Caroline had enough of these games, she knew that Norville would just have to leave. She grabbed one of the heavy trash cans and tossed it at Sam knocking the rat out cold.

  “Give me that leaf blower!” cried Caroline.

  Caroline was taking back her property from Norville, Norville knew he better get to work. Sam laid unconscious, the homeless pigeon ended up thanking Norville.

  “Thank you sir, thank you for helping me” said the pigeon.

  “No time to chat, gotta run!” cried Norville.

  Norville looked at his watch – he only had ten minutes to spare! He was so caught up in fighting the rats he didn’t know how much time had passed.

  “Great, not again!” cried Norville.

  Norville did his best heading across the alleyway towards the office. The office was just literally around the corner and time was just ticking away. A few rhino security guards were checking in the various animals into the building. Norville had to go through.

  “Alright, move” said one of the security guards.

  Norville realized he forgot his badge at home since he was in such a rush. He had to wait in line like everyone else. He did his best trying to be patient, but then he noticed some of the rat construction workers were nearby. They were not very happy about Sam being knocked out by Caroline. Though they were searching for Norville.

  “Hey, isn’t that the bat that tried to fight Sam?” asked one of the rats.

  “I believe so” replied the other rat.

  “I know an insider who’s a janitor there, he’ll fix that bat for us” laughed the first rat.

  The local janitor – Archie knew Sam since they formerly had a job together as coworkers. Archie ends up reading a text message.

  “There’s a bat who caused Sam some trouble” said the text message.

  Archie glares at Norville who’s the only bat in line. Norville unaware of his surroundings ends up moving forward after each animal checks themselves in with the rhino security team. Finally it’s Norville’s turn, Norville pours his cellphone, wallet and other important items out on the tray to get passed through security. But Archie who knows how to hack into the system decides to tamper with the security device.

  “Let’s see if he likes being late to work” laughed Archie.

  Archie used a shady hacking app to mess with the rhinos’ security system who thought Norville was a false positive.

  “Well that’s odd, come this way with us sir” said the security guard.

  “But I might be fired by my boss” said Norville.

  “We all have those days sir” said the security guard.

  Norville had no choice but to cooperate, before the security guards realized it, both of the slipped and fell on their backs. Archie formerly used cleaning supplies around that area. The rhinos did their best trying to pick themselves up, but before Norville realized he was being confronted by Archie.

  “You made a bad mistake by going after my friend Sam like that” said Archie.

  Norville swallowed, he knew he would be surely late – the only way to get to the office now was the stairs and the office was on the fifth floor.

  “Great, only five minutes left, I can do this” thought Norville.

  Norville knew he would have to get past Archie first if he wanted to get to work without being fired.
