Chapter 36 - Light and Flame

The night sky came and went in its usual giving way to day. Song birds replaced chirping crickets in welcoming the returning heat slowly started to dry the grass on a cloudless morning

Up on a hill, runes formed in the air and slowly formed a circle and a green light was cast onto the field. A leg stepped out, covered in black leggings that clung tightly, leaving little to the imagination despite covering their leg fully. From their waist, a blue and silver cloth was wrapped tightly and went along the side of the leggings. Silver hair fell freely until it came to an end where it was held together by a hair ring.

Walking through the still sleepy village, she didn't draw much attention due to the morning emptiness, but the eyes that were open this morning couldn't help but watch her every step.

With a destination in mind, she didn't let anything get in her way. Not even the slight of the Rainbow Tree could slow her pace, it wasn't long until she approached the village's edge and arrived on the outside of the Starfall home.

Three rapid knocks echoed against the wooden door.

Waiting for only a moment, the door cracked open.

"Good morning, I wasn't expecting to have company this early." Lumara with a morning smile, welcomed and watched as another smile joined her.

  —-

  "Flare Storm!"

A cry echoed in an open field, from the middle of four massive, twenty-foot-tall boulders that rose to the sky, surrounding a wide sandpit.

Waves of blue flame washed over the most northern stone, almost making walls of fire that flew over the grass. The stone was left with deep burn marks that covered their surface.

While the morning was calm, low rapid panting wouldn't let silence take over.

Sweat fell from her chin and the flame around her arms went out. Starting at the burns she left on the stone, Lucina fought her growing fatigue.

"Ok... let's... give it... another go."

Each word was a gasping breath. Trying to stay standing, another attempt was made.

"With flames as numerous as stars in the—

She didn't get far, a sharp pain through her head. A pain ten times worse than the injuries inflicted by the Banshee Owl.

Eden's Dawn left from her hands and she grasped her head. Trying to apply some kind of pressure to ease the pain, Lucina's voice wouldn't work.

'Why does my head feel like it's splitting in two!?'

It was having a nail driving into her head by a hammer.

  'It hurts, this hurts!'

A hammer that wouldn't stop pounding even after the nail was buried.

'Why does this hurt so much!?'

Unable to even scream out, only pain filled groans could escape. Until her legs gave out and she fell onto the sandy ground beneath her, everything went dark.

  —

Slowly azure blue eyes opened up to bright, foggy, sun hidden sky. Looking to her sides before sitting up. Lucina herself in the same spot.

"What happened?" Her hand rose to try and block out the light. "It feels like I've been staring at the sun for hours."

Looking around a thick fog covered the land, everywhere except the inside of the sandpit. The stone pillars acting like some kind of barrier preventing it from enveloping them.

"When did this fog roll in? What time is—

  "Hiya!"

A sudden battle cry cut her off.

Turning to the cry, a confused look came over her, watched a small elven girl no older than seven, maybe eight, dressed in blue with long golden blond hair that ran down her back. Swinging a wooden toy sword wildly in the air with no rhyme or reason.

"Hey kid, do you know when this fog rolled in?"

There was no answer, she just kept swinging.

Coughing into her hand, trying to get their attention. Lucina called out again. "Hey, do you know what time it is?"

  Still there was no answer.

"Hey, I am talking to you kid! Would it kill you to answer me!?"

The swing stopped and the girl seemed to look down.

"Hey... I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell at—

This time the girl turned to face her and a smile formed. Dripping the sword, the girl took off running at her .

  "Hey—

Lucina went silent at the girl.

Her face, that happy go lucky smile, and her bright azure blue eyes

  "Why do you—

She couldn't finish as the small child ran through her... literally ran through her, like she wasn't there or if girl was some strange phantom.

'Ok what is this? Was that me?'

Falling to her knees, Lucina wrapped her arms around hera sudden chill wave washed over her.

'Why did that girl look like—

"You're late! You told me you'd before the sun got high!"

Lucina ignored the girl's voice and tried to get up. "Ok that was—

"I'm sorry Lu." That voice made her freeze. "I hope you didn't wait long."

  "No... it can't be."

Like a grinding stone, Lucina slowly turned her head around. Only to find a human woman who was a few years older than she was now, dressed in the colors of autumn that were hidden by a white cloak. Long reddish brown hair ran down her back.

  "Sorrina?"

Watching this woman ran her hand over this small of herself, it was hard to get up.

"Why were you late? You told me you'd be on time, you even pinky swore."

Lucina watched the pair smiled. With a quiet voice, just above a whisper she spoke.

"Sorry I had to... to deal with Yodei." Sorrina finished, with a wide smirk and continued with an apologetic tone. "Ya know that kid was trying to pick a fight with someone and I couldn't just let him do that."

"And that's why you're the best. You don't let anyone act up."

A smile appeared on her and in a swift moment the small Lucina was snatched off the ground. "Then why do I let you get away with the mischief you cause?"

Lucina could only watch the scene unfold, laughing smiles almost seemed like a painting that caught the soul.

"I remember this day, I finally managed to convince my parents to let Sorrina take me to see Kicon." A small laugh escaped.

But the small moment everything grew darker and heavier, a change that went ignored by the reflections. In that moment she tried to get up, she couldn't. As if something was pulling against her and her eyes trailed downward,

Horror filled her eyes and she started to thrash.

She was sinking into the sand.

Crying out, she looked to the two in front of her ignored the situation. The sand slowly rose above her stomach. Clawing at the ground, trying to pull herself free, her hands move through it like water. Amidst her struggle a glint caught her eye. The two talked, Lucina watched an object, a flying sword, came flying in from the fog

  "—

Her hand grabbed her throat the moment her voice wouldn't come out.

Sinking faster into the sand, forced to watch as the sword flew faster. Desperately trying to claw her way out, Lucina tired to call out one more time

  'Sorr...

  —-

  ... ina!!"

Shooting up like a stiff board, her eyes shot wide open.

  "AAHH!!"

Only to clasp her hands over them in an attempt to shield them from a sensory overdose that came from the blinding sun.

'When did it get so bright!'

Trying to block out the light, the splitting headache returned and her hands shifted from her eyes to the side of her head.

"My head..." A quiet whimper escaped.

In that moment, the sudden soft grasp on her shoulders barely went noticed as she was gently pulled down. But rather being met with the soft sand below, there was something else, something softer.

  "Poor dear."

Lucina didn't get a chance to answer; the moment her eyes slightly opened the sun created a silhouette and a pair of pointed ears. Before she could focus and let her eyes adjust, they were covered and was sent back to looking at a dark void.

  'Is that a hand?'

It was dark for a moment, a soft voice led to a soft golden light washed over her eyes and slowly, the headache that pained her faded.

'This feels nice, even my eyes don't hurt anymore.'

Slowly the hand that covered her eyes moved, slowly reintroducing her to the light. Azure stared up to find hazel green eyes and long silver hair smiling back at her. "How have you been?"

"Lady Morgen!? What are you doing here?"

A frown formed in the half-elf.

Out of sheer surprise, Lucina tried to get up once again in an attempt to roll out from underneath the half-elf. But the attempt was halted when a hand was placed on her chest, keeping her down.

Before Lucina could question any further or make another attempt to get up, a light flick of pain tapped her forehead. "I thought I told you not to be so formal with me?"

Turning from side to side, Lucina's face grew flush, realizing where she was and why her resting spot was soft.

  'I'm in her lap.'

Her face quickly rose to match the shade of a tomato.

"What time is it?" Lucina tried to avoid meeting Morgen's gaze but every time she turned her head, she found herself stuck between Morgen's thighs

"I'd say it's almost noon. I didn't know you were a heavy sleeper. Now care to share what caused this?" Lucina followed Morgen's gesture to her bandaged shoulder.

"Oh... that... I got hurt in the nearby dungeon."

"I see." Morgen kept one hand on Lucina's forehead and moved her other to cover the bandages, allowing the glow from her hand to concentrate on that point.

The moment Morgen took her hands off, Lucina sat up. Her gaze and hand shifted to her shoulder. Unwrapping the now loose bandage, underneath the bindings, there was no sign of the injury, not even a faded scar or bruise. Nothing. Not even a faded marking.

  "Thanks Morgen."

  "Don't mention it."

It was quiet for a moment. However Lucina was the one to break it.

  "So why are you here?"

"Straight to the point I see, but I'm sure I could ask you the same thing." A smile grew when she flashed her ring finger. "If you must know, my father needed a few documents delivered to Lyn. So, I took it upon myself to help. Plus, gave me a reason to get out and see how Red was doing."

Her ears twitched the moment he was brought up. "How is he, is he doing alright? What about his arms and his chest, have those injuries healed yet? And what about Roy, how's he doing?"

There was an earnest eagerness in her voice, her eyes shifted from surprise worry in less than a heartbeat.

A smile formed on the half-elf. Standing up, she started to pat Lucina's head. "Roy's doing fine, he's become a little more active in the mornings, but he's about the same."

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"And what about Red?" She questioned with baited breath.

  "Red's...

  "He's?"

"He's doing just fine and recovery has been smooth." A calming sigh escaped Lucina. "Apparently he was rather docile for the first two and half, sitting in bed sleeping and studying Hellia's lessons, but after a while he became restless."

  Lucina's calmness turned to mystery.

"A few days ago, Lyn caught them both in the backyard basically playing Firebolt dodgeball." Even if Lucina couldn't see her own face, Morgen smiled at her reaction. "Apparently the moment Lyn found this, she smacked them both upside the head and dragged them both back to bed."

A smile grew at that outcome. "Serves that idiot right, he should focus on recovering."

"Now enough about Red for the moment, how about you tell me why you were out here all night? Looks like Red isn't the only one pushing their limits."

Lucina watched Morgen's curious gaze shifted from her to the burn marked bolder pillars, missing Morgen's hand shift behind her.

"Not bad, I saw your work effort, impressive. Mind showing me a little display?" When she spoke, a vial filled with a dark blue liquid was tossed Lucina's way.

'Is this an elixir?' Popping off the cork, Lucina emptied the vial. "Thanks."

A smile was Morgen's response. Lucina got up and made her way to the center.

A deep breath came from her as the blue flames started small.

With flames as numerous as stars in the night sky...

'Construct on this. You're good on power thanks to the elixir Morgen gave you. I just need to focus on giving everything I have!'

Two flames grew, two more quickly followed making four and the same happened again brining the total to six.

As she continued, Morgen just watched the spell continued.

  'I won't mess up!'

"Each flame gives light to a star that will reduce those obstacles to ash."

  "Flare Storm!"

Thrusting her hands forward, the flames at her side raced forward. Warming the sand as the flames raced across. The moment the first one blasted the boulder pillar, the others followed quickly after the other.

The second blast led to the third.

  Then the fourth.

  The fifth.

  Finally the sixth.

Each blast of fire left its mark on the rock. Its surface was charred black and bright molten red spots covering. The boulders started to slowly melt.

Keeping her eyes on the boulder, Lucina readied herself to perform once again.

"Nicely done." Only for Morgen's light applause and praise to turn her attention away.

Turning to the older elf, a smile grew.

"However, you seem to be missing the main appeal of Flare Storm as a spell." While Morgen kept her smile, Lucina slowly felt hers fade. "Tell me, has anyone ever told you the different ways you can categorize magic?"

Lucina took a moment to think before she spoke. "I remember Miss. Lyndis asked a bunch of kids something like that, but what she talked about was the difference between single word magic and chants. Something about speed vs power..."

"That's correct, in fact it was the same advice she passed onto me when I was learning." Morgen spoke, she got up, stretched her back and moved from side to side trying to limber up. In the process, pushing and moving her chest from side to side. "So let's see if I can't pass down some of the advice Lyn gave me."

Watching her chest move, it took a moment for Lucina to register what Morgen said.

Shaking her head, changing her gaze to meet Morgen's. "Wait, Lyn's advice? Miss Lyndis taught you?"

A coy smirk grew as she walked in opposition to Lucina. "What, did you think you were Lyn's only disciple?"

  "I... well... hmm..."

"Don't worry about it, now." The half elf turned to face the elf. "As you know, chanted spells tend to fall into a few different subcategories. There's healing, support, continuous and blast, or Lyn likes to call it, "I want blank gone." spells"

"The 'I want blank gone spells', doesn't that seem a little childish?" The two couldn't help but chuckle.

"Lyn sure had a way with words." Morgen put some distance between them as she spoke and when she turned back to face Lucina, while her expression remained calm, it now had a serious tone to it. "Now I think the best way I can demonstrate what I want to teach you is for you to come at me."

  "Wait, you want me to—

"Yes, exactly what you think. Sometimes the best way to learn is to act."

Still here was hesitation from Lucina, even with her blade pointed at Morgen. "Are you sure? I can let you cast your spell if it helps."

She couldn't help but laugh before wiping a tear from her eye. "I appreciate the offer but there's no need. I'll give you the first move."

Lucina lowered her blade and raised a free hand it caught flame.

  "Firebolt!"

The blue flame raced towards an unmoving Morgen, growing closer and closer until it was reflected in her hazel green eyes.

Only for it to veer off to the side before even coming close to her person. Morgen didn't even acknowledge the burnt ground to her left.

"Lucina, I appreciate your intentions, but..." Lucina felt Morgen's gaze become sharper than a blade the moment it targeted her. "If you don't take me seriously, you'll end up with more than just a minor headache."

That simple warning disguised with in advice made her tense up.

"I'll give you another shot, but you better not waste it." Morgen remained motionless with a simple smile.

Retaking her guard, she looked Morgen over.

Her stance was relaxed, interlocking her fingers and pushing her palms forward, cracking her fingers as she stretched.

With each motion Morgen made, Lucina watched, trying to make a plan. 'I remember her fight with Raiden, he let her get her chant off before the fight happened.'

Her eyes shifted away to her blade. 'Trying to prevent her from getting her chant off will be my best way to win. So...'

"With flames as numerous as stars in the night sky, I call on thee to light the path to victory. No matter what odds stand in my way, these flames shall light the way forward. Each flame gives light to a start that will reduce those obstacles to ash."

Six flames formed around her. 'I'll do what I can to overwhelm her and not give her the chance to get the spell off!'

  "Flare Storm!"

With the swipe of her hand, the fireballs raced to their target.

However as they threw though the air, Morgen remained unmoved.

For a moment the two front flames descended and collided with the ground, causing a screen of smoke and fire to cloud her view.

Morgen didn't even flinch, even the following flames that flew through the smoke did nothing. She just moved to the side watching them fly by, their passing glow did little but bath her in blue light and warm her skin.

The flames weren't the only things to appear from the black. Rushing in at her black was Eden's Dawn, Lucina thrusted the blade forward.

In contrast to the nervous, hesitant look Lucina held just a moment ago, now she was focused.

Avoiding that thrust, Lucina tracked her and quickly acted with a horizontal slash. Like a fly Morgen evaded again, but Lucina was persistent.

'If I can just keep up the pressure I have a chance.'

With each strike, Lucina chased the retreating, Morgen. Slashing at her in every direction, even faking a piercing thrust for a downward thrust that was followed with an upward slashed, Morgen evaded still.

Every strike that became faster was met with a calm, retreating step. It was like almost Morgen knew what angle of attack Lucina took before it entered her mind.

'Why can't I close the distance?' A blue blazed hand hit forward in frustration to try and make progress. 'Let's see you dodge this.'

  "Firebolt"

A bolt of flame raced to close the gap that Morgen made with a leap. Smirking, she extended her own hand and a white light started to glow.

  "Shine."

An orb of light shot from her hand.

The spells blinked before crashing, colliding in a brilliant display of blue and gold.

"Not bad Lucina, not bad at all." Her sudden change caused Lucina to halt for a moment. "However, from this point on, I'm not playing defense."

Her hand rose, Lucina readied her guard, watching it be bathed in the same light just a moment ago.

  "Shine."

Azure eyes grew wide they were filled by a white light and before her mind knew what to do, her body acted on its own. Moving to her right, the flash of light blinded her when it flew by.

Looking back, she only saw a burn mark on the ground.

  'Was that—

  "With near-unlimited light from above..."

The sound of chanting snapped her away from her thoughts. Morgen's confident smirk forced Lucina to act.

'I can't let her finish that chant or I lose!'

Rushing in with a barrage of well-aimed burning slashes. Even calling out Firebolts did little to stop her, sampling evading them as she spoke.

"I claim thee to be the steel that forges my arms."

  'Oh crap.'

The further Morgen went into the chant; Lucina halted her distance use of Firebolt and rushed in. Swinging Eden's Dawn to try and stop her...

"For the creation of a blade..."

But it did little, the half-elf just evaded each stroke she slowly continued with ease.

'I can't let her get that off! So I'll do it first!'

Slamming her feet to a stop, Lucina started to chant too.

"With flames as numerous as stars in the night sky, I call on thee to light the path to victory."

"...is no easy feat, but with light..."

"No matter what odds stand in my way, these flames shall light the way forward."

Bright, golden light started to form in Morgen's hands, four blue flames formed around Lucina. Her words were quick and panicked consorted to Morgen's more calm and precise tone.

  "Flare Storm!"

  ...my armory is indefinite."

All for flames around her blasted from her side, racing across the ground, they came within mere inches of her.

  "Heaven's Armory."

Her eyes started to shine and three blades of light pierced the ground, stabbing through the flames before they even reached her.

Before the fourth flame could reach her, a blade of light formed in Morgen's hand, and in a single motion, she slashed the blue flame in two.

The only thing the blue flame accomplished was enhancing Morgen's appearance.

  "Ho... how?"

'How was she able to get that spell off even with me pressuring her?"

"Not bad Lucina, but it's my turn." Raising her hand, Lucina watched Morgen point her index finger at her and just before she snapped her middle finger and thumb together. A simple warning was sent. "You better pay close attention."

Grabbing a newly formed blades of light. Morgen pointed one of their tips at Lucina and rushed in.

Golden light clashed with burning sacred wood, in a single strike the blade of light clashed against Eden's Dawn, shattering.

Even at the sight of her blade being broken, Lucina watched Morgen maintain her calm smile.

  'Now's my chance!'

"With flames as numerous stars in the night sky, I call on thee to light the path to victory. No—

A golden light appeared out of the corner of her eye and a light dagger formed, before she knew what happened, it came flying.

The chant came to a sudden end, swatting the projectile away with Eden's Dawn.

But before she could act another took shape behind her and the same thing happened, but this time when one was shattered two more took its place.

Two became four, four became eight, eight became sixteen, and they all kept flying at Lucina. Getting shattered only to have more take their place.

Each dagger waited to take its turn before it flew at Lucina, but the wait was only just enough for her to react.

'How can she make so many?

'It's like an unending wave. Just wave after wave of daggers.' Her eyes shot over the place, marking each dagger and strike them. With each motion, she caught a glimpse of Morgen. Just smiling with glowing eyes.

However, Lucina couldn't let her gaze linger for long as the blades just kept coming. With each swing the blade became heavier as her arms tired, but still she just kept on defending. Slowly the daggers numbers started to dwindle until they stopped coming.

"Ok... now... back to... Morgen?" Looking forward, with tired breath, the half-elf was gone from her sight. "Where did she–

Fear filled her azure pools, tuning around to find Morgen standing behind her. A golden light blade in each of the half-elf's hands. Before Lucina knew it, the wooden blade blocked the strike form the light blade.

  "Good, you're quick to react."

Lucina gave a defiant growl, pushing back with Eden's Dawn. Her efforts were answered with Morgen attempting to slam her second onto hers. Leaping to the side, avoiding Morgen's following attack.

  "Firebolt!"

A bolt of blue flame, crashed into the ground and surrounded Morgen in a veil of smoke.

"Not bad, not bad at all." Morgen spoke as Lucina vanished from her line of sight.

"I can see how you're able to pressure like you did, but..." Lucina appeared behind the half-elf, her blade engulfed in fire as she tried to slash at Morgen.

Moving her arm with ease, the golden blade in her left hand blocked the strike with ease. With the slight turn of her head, green eyes locked with blue. "...you still have room to improve if you want to reach me."

'I knew she was strong from watching that fight, but this feels insane. I need to get her off me... I'll give Flare Storm another shot.' Trying to maintain her ground, she started to chant

  "With flames as numerous as—

She was interrupted by a single sword strike, even blocking it with Eden; Lucina failed to stop the swift kick to her chest. Rolling across the sand, when she came to the stop and her eyes looked to the sky, Lucina was faced with four short golden swords hovering from above.

  'That's not good.'

Kicking herself up, she ran out of their path the moment they fell, watching them stab the ground, she tried once again.

  "With flames as—

The glow of a blade forming behind her. Shining from behind, the blade came flying at her.

  "Firebolt!"

  Flame intercepted light.

Instincts took over and Lucina turned back, only to find Morgen within striking distance. Looking up at Morgen as she brought her twin blades down, barely had the time to block them both.

  "Good reaction time."

Lucina could only groan as he tried to force Morgen back. Eden's Dawn caught flame and in a quick motion, Lucina sliced through both golden blades.

Her hands changed their grip and in the same motion lunged forward aiming the following strike at Morgen.

A clang rang out as the strike was halted. Frustration was born in her azure blue eyes at the sight of a spear made of light rose from the ground, stopping her.

Lucina could only watch stunned as she tried to force her way through. "What the...

"What? Did you think all I could do was swords? It's called Heaven's Armory, not Heaven's Sword." While she spoke, her hand rose, her palm to Lucina.

But she was quick to answer.

  "Fire—

  "Shine."

Just not quick enough as a blast of light sent Lucina back.

'How is she this strong? Is this continuous magic? Can I even compete with this level of power?'

Morgan's calm steps pulled her out of her head, watching her twirled the spear like a long baton made of might light she approached.

"I'd pay attention if I were you."

The moment she said that dozens of smaller daggers of lights formed all over; above, below and eye level, floating around her. Morgen didn't need to say a single word or even extend her hand as dozens of light daggers went flying at Lucina.

Slashing at them, Eden's Dawn deflected and shattered each blade that was sent her way.

'I can't keep this up forever.' Watching Morgen just stand there, unmoving with a smile as new daggers were formed and launched. 'I just an opening to get Flare Storm off!'

After beating back wave after wave, they started to slowly lessen. 'Now's my chance!'

Her moves came to a halt.

"With flames as numerous as stars in the night sky, I call on thee—

Her words came to a stop when her burning blade blocked a thrust from a golden spear.

"Having a hard time with your chant?" Morgen taunted.

Lucina couldn't respond, her chant was interrupted yet again and now all she could do was push back.

Morgen remained calm, a playful smirk grew on her. Before Lucina could figure it out, the spear's tip split in two, creating a two-prong pitchfork.

  'How? She did do that?'

The moment she tried to pull back, Morgen twisted her weapon, knocking the wooden blade out of Lucina's hands and into the air.

Her eyes followed the lost blade spin freely in the sky and with her attention divided, Morgen slammed the butt end of her construct into the blond elf and sent her flying back.

Gripping her stomach, Lucina rolled to her side. 'Why did that hurt so much?'

Slowly she got up just in time to watch as Morgen caught her sword in her hand. The spear disappeared and taking a few swings with Lucina's blade. "This sword really is well made, I can see why you're confident with it."

Staring into her glowing hazel green eyes, with a defiant glare, Lucina's hand caught flame.

  "Fire–

Morgen pointed her finger around Lucina in twirling motion, causing her to stop and look up. Around her were three layers of circling golden swords, the first and third rotated to the right and the second layer went to the left.

  ...bolt."

Her hand fell to the side. "I give up."

Morgan's smile remained and with a snap of her fingers, all the blades disappeared along with the glow in her eyes. "I'll say you did well for your first time with me, but seeing you like that reminds me of the days when Lyn would teach me. I ended up in that same situation."

A tired groan escaped Lucina as she sat up. "I guess I should have seen this coming, you've been trained by Lyn for longer and that spell of yours was so strong."

"It's just something that comes with age I guess." Her smile remained.

"Heck the only time I was even able to finish Flare Storm was because you let me."

"That may be true, but it's also a fault on your end."

"A fault on my end? But you were pressuring me." This time Lucina sent a glare at Morgen.

"I didn't mean to offend, but what I'm trying to say is, you're not using that spell to its full potential, you're using it more like Firebolt, but with a chant."

That made her glare stop and intrigue grew.

"Lyn gave me some similar advice in the past, back then, I would only make one maybe two swords at a time and Lyn helped me get over that hill. It was helpful that Flare Storm and Heaven's Armory are similar."

  "They're similar?"

"To some degree, yes. They are both continuous, so once the chant is complete and you have your concentration strong, you should be able to constantly summon, in my case weapons made of light and yours fire, until that focus is broken"

The half-elf's hands rose; her words were calm and steady as the light returned to her eyes.

"Now watch this." Drawing Lucina's attention, four swords appeared next to the surrounding stone pillars.

  "Ok, so what's supposed to—

Without saying a word all four swords grew to the size of the boulders.

"That is what I wanted to show you. When it comes to continuous magic so long as you can keep it under control, you can make flames larger than those boulders or...

  "Ow!"

Lucina shot up from the ground when a sudden, small, sharp pain pricked her. Her hand moved to cover and start rubbing her butt, watching a sewing needle made of light in front of her.

...smaller than a fly." A light giggle came from her azure blue eyes looked ready to shoot beams at the royal.

"So will you let me get the chant off so I can practice that or are you going to just stand there and show off?" Lucina gave Morgen a deadpanned look.

"I don't know, that all depends on if you can keep up little blue." Morgen returned that deadpan with a playful smirk. "But let's go back to your house first, I'm sure your parents would like to see you and I could go for some lunch."

  "Right, but Morgen."

  "Yes."

"Can I have my sword back?"

Looking to her hand only to find that she still had a hold on Eden's Dawn, Morgen offered the blade back with a smile.
