There was something truly wrong.
Something that was gnawing at Drone telling him that things weren’t going the way they were supposed to. He couldn’t quite pin why.
After all it was so very obvious that Ellio was always meant to be the connection between the gods and this world. She after all was the most beautiful thing in existence.
The kindest.
The most perfect.
Ellio didn’t have the capability of being dark or wrong because she was chosen.
She was perfect.
And even before today when he’d be swearing himself as her guard Drone knew for sure. Knew that he was placed in this world to protect her.
He was meant to destroy all those who threatened her so that she might maintain her brightness.
Drone knelt before the Scribes of Old in their masked images holding no names, no histories of their own. Their entire purposes to share the God’s words.
They didn’t name him a guard.
He’d always been. It was his destiny since the day he was born.
Drone scoffed. The Scribes didn’t have even close to any power to decide fate though that had once been a theorized to be meant to have a hand in fate. But all the scribes ever had the power to do was document and foretell.
Even if they wanted to tell a false telling they’d be quickly executed when it didn’t resonate in the library of truths.
The place that only the most loyal were allowed to fully enter, though Drone would be allowed to occupy a near by reading room where he would be presented with any and all foretelling’s that would help him with his purpose.
The Scribe before him who had stood a distance away as he was named a Guard and assigned to protect the Saintess of Light hesitated to step forward when they were prompted.
“Scribe.” The Elder prompted again.
The Scribe stumbled forward scooping up the ink and stood before him the masked face covering expression but he could feel the stare. Could see the tremble.
The Scribe then quickly drew the emblem on his fore head before grabbing the log and running out of the room.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
As if they were scared of him.
Why would anyone under the God’s command be scared of him?
He was loyal to the word.
He was loyal to Ellio.
There wasn’t anything that would change that.
Drone looked at the Elder who called out.
A more steady masked Scribe entered the room. They silently bowed then walked to a door motioning Drone forward.
Drone stood bowed to the Elder before following.
The room he was led to was magically well lit. He’d heard other’s stories about how either there was nothing in the room so they had to sit for hours with nothing to do or they got one or two vague prophecies they might be of use in.
Never though did he hear of there being Eight Scrolls. Not even short scrolls either, they went on forever.
Drone sat and opened the first.
What will come if the Magistrate continues to try to take the roll of Gods.
The monster Zephyr was found in an ocean of blood that only continued to grow—
What?
Drone sat forward and read through the scroll more intently.
He thought of Zephyr about the Darkness he and Ellio were sure of. Drone laughed under his breath. They were right.
Drone frowned when he read.
The day the Saintess offered kindness to a monster.
He read of Ellio trying to understand, trying to invite Zephyr to be good. All while he silently watched her.
And that was when Zephyr started stalking Ellio. And that was when Drone began in the dead of night fighting Zephyr.
Which made all the sense in the world to Drone but this meeting happened much after their school experience.
Drone stopped that school and just read the first lines of the scrolls.
What happens when great magics are hoarded and bloodlines are forgotten.
Akitsu’s mind was one that continued to grow unstable until which point it was broken. This might not have been an issue but she had great power unidentified and untrained.
When those with the magic of command are not closely monitored.
Vespula was a revered magic student loved by all that met her. She was able to collect power, people and magic in order to become the leader of one of the largest operations against the Ruling state and the temples. All while staying under anyone’s radar.
When Families power is left unchecked for far too long.
Atrax was a powerful member of the Doific Clan who made it his life’s mission to destroy his family for just reasons but was eventually corrupted by power the same way.
When those without magic are allowed to intermingle with those who do.
May was the stepdaughter of the head of Magical affairs. After she killed her stepfather she was seized by the Doific Clan.
When the Enforcer’s fall short in their duties and Vigilante justice runs rampant.
Pincer was from a long line of Guards from the temple who eventually broke away and started studying unsanctioned combative magics claiming that those who were meant to protect weren’t because of their strict Temple ideals.
That one in particular cut deeply into Drone. How dare a Guard bloodline betray their own. Pincer. He tried to think through if he knew someone name Pincer.
He opened the second to last scrolled and read.
When obsession is mistaken for worship.
Dron-
Drone shoved the scroll away staring at it.
He sat there unable to breath for a few ticks of the clock. Then he lifted the last scroll.
When savage worship is allowed to infiltrate the sacred lands.
The Deacon of Death was allowed to enter the sacred lands after a deal was brokered—
Drone rolled his eyes.
And went back to the first scroll ready to read through everything he’d need to know to defeat Ellio’s enemies.
Zephyr, Akitsu… Where was Elytra?
