72 Extermination

The torrential rain spatters against Carter's body as he rubs his empty eye sockets. Fuck! How does this kid's bullets hurt me!? He almost got me. His sharp fingertips dig into concrete as if it was butter, with one flex of his finger, his eyes pulse, almost out his sockets. This can't slide! Metal drags upon the ground. The sound stops as in the reflection of the glass, Slim raises an axe. Carter's wires pop out, but they simply droop to the ground. Slim drives the axe's head into Carter's chest. Carter's fingers twitch, Slim sniffs the air and zooms away from his razor-sharp claws. Slim tuts, "And here I thought you could just enthrall all of them with just a look." He growls, "You did this to me. Fix it or you die here." Slim laughs, "I outsmarted every demon in hell. Every Nephilim. There is no going back from here!" Carter zooms in and Slim barely jumps out of the way. "Then there will be no favorites, Slim. That cute trick earlier won't work again. I see Amber, she dies." Slim shakes his head with a smile, "That's all I needed to hear." Carter zooms in, but Slim already zooms to the side of him, cleaves Carter's arm clean off. Carter's eyes wander to a small backpack, a metal hose going straight into Slim's wound he made from his last encounter. Carter quickly slices the hose and a white substance pours from it. Slim bolts down the street and Carter gains on him. "So that's your power!" He suddenly stops and turns. A needle injects into his stomach as he swings the axe. The axe cleaves through the side of Carter's skull, the force pushes his whole body to the ground. He grins while Slim can't see his face.

Slim tears out the axe as Carter grabs the street, struggling to drag himself away. "I feared you for years, Dantalion. It feels so good to finally watch you squirm on the ground." Dantalion growls, "We'll never be strong enough to defeat him." Slim rolls his eyes as he continues, "Never saw an angel destroy countless worlds for no reason!" Slim sighs, "It was all to save what's left of my family." Dantalion chuckles as Slim rolls him over with the axe, "You didn't save anyone. Don't you get it?! We're all dead!" Slim tuts, "Everything here was normal until we settled here. An angel defeated you." Dantalion growls, "Your brothers-" Slim leans on the axe and smiles wide, "I wasn't talking about them." Dantalion's eyes widen as Slim injects himself once more, "You were all that's left. Just you three." Slim smirks and raises the axe, "Not anymore!" So that's how Jack's bullets hurt. He swings down the axe and it tears right through carter's neck.

Slim rests the axe onto his shoulder and starts walking away. "We all really did get weaker." A loud series of cracks force Slim to stop and face Carter's body, only to find him standing and staring down at the ground, showing no signs of fatigue or weakness as he once did. An overwhelming amount of energy emanates from him. Slim clenches the axe tightly in both hands, "What the hell?" Carter moves his fingers up and down as crimson blades violently crack in and out of his skin. Slim gulps at the sight of his emotionless face. Slim backs away slowly, "That's not you anymore, huh?" Slim turns the valve and bolts away. Flashes of what he's done on Earth invade his mind. "How are we going to kill that!?"

Carter stares to the sea and grabs at his ears, "Shut up and close your eyes!"

In a coffee shop, a girl smiles and hands the soldier his coffee, "Have a nice-" His resting smile turns to a blank stare into her eyes as his coffee pours out the vent. He drops the coffee cup and proceeds to cover his ears and shuts his eyes. People in their seats follow suit. "What in the-" They all say in unison, "Shut up." A chill goes down her spine.

The angry and starving crowd watches in confusion as soldiers fall into a trance before them.

Carter growls and walks into one of the few command posts and attempts to shut the door, but half the door splits off. Kaylin looks up at him as Carter mutters to himself. "What happened to you?" He turns and stares into Kaylin's eyes, "Shut up!" He looks around the empty corners of the room, then mutters, "Call everyone, I want everyone covering the beaches. No one gets out alive today."

The soldiers raise their guns to the crowd and the crowd runs. Carter roars and grabs at his ears as they open fire.

A group of commanders stop playing cards and stand up. They march lifelessly and pick up their phones. A soldier stomps a woman's fiery head in. He takes a breath and turns as his commanding officer shouts. Women load up belts of ammunition with UGA posters on the wall. Soldiers load into jeeps as ordinary men sit around a stolen military radio and load up their guns. Cornelius rubs his cane across from Amber as Bullet glares back at his old man. "Bullet, delay and distract the east. I'm taking the middle. Amber, take the west." Amber shakes her head, "I can't distract a whole direction." He glares at them, "We've done impossible things with less. If you're not dirt, you'll make it work."

Slim runs into the abandoned factory as Verank hacks away with a laugh. "Verank!" He turns and cheers, "You're back!" Slim huffs and heaves while Verank smiles wide, "Sharpen your cleaver." He cheers loud and makes incoherent, yet happy noises. Why the beaches? Ugh- it doesn't matter. Slim logs into his computer, rewatching Jack before Rose broke his goggles, the odd split-second green camera glitches. It has to be you, Jack Delora. He unplugs the computer and drags the axe off the desk. "Let's go!"
