CHAPTER - 152 [The New Grade And Reassurances

  CHAPTER - 152

Rafael popped open a rare bottle, ignoring all protocol, drinking in long gulps and shouting with joy like a fan after a decisive goal.

Eldrin, with his arm around Director Vittorio, laughed contentedly, while the other professors nodded among themselves, aware they had just witnessed a turning point.

  The arena was a battlefield.

The inner stands were damaged, the floor marred by cracks and magical strikes.

But nothing the academy's magic couldn't repair in a day.

Those scars were now symbols of something greater: the moment a new SS had been born before their eyes.

Dav, with an affectionate smile, looked at Selene as he adjusted her in his arms.

"They're applauding you, Selene. You were phenomenal.

Congratulations on your new rank, I suppose.

You're no longer just an S+.

  You're much more now."

Selene smiled faintly, her lips curved, and she fell asleep in his embrace like an exhausted but happy child.

Dav sat down on the ground, cradling her gently.

His breathing was calm, his fingers intertwined in her unruly locks, stroking her head as if to ensure she was real.

Myrrhya was carefully lifted from the ground and placed on Dav's lap.

Her large, worried eyes immediately settled on her mother.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

"How did you manage to connect so quickly?"

Dav asked, curious but with a gentle tone.

  Myrrhya hesitated.

"Is Mom okay? Anyway... I couldn't say.

She asked me for more strength. She wanted a barrier.

She thought it strongly and... our souls connected."

Dav nodded slowly, his gaze still fixed on Selene.

  "She's fine.

This isn't the maximum, right Myrrhya?"

  She nodded again, more confidently.

"I need the whole crystal to be at my maximum."

  Dav's smile widened.

"You'll be stronger very soon, Sele."

The sun, now low, began to illuminate the stands and walls with an intense orange, as if the entire arena were slowly burning in a sacred light.

Dav remained there, in silence, playing with Selene's hair, disheveled but beautiful, letting time pass unhurriedly.

He occasionally caressed her face, checking for injuries, ensuring every part of her body was intact after that titanic exertion.

After about two hours, Selene stirred in his arms, slowly opened her eyes, and looked at him.

  "Our warrior has awakened,"

said Dav with an ironic tone, touching her nose.

"Let's hope she doesn't lose her mind and kill us all."

  Selene barely laughed, blushing.

"Thanks for the training. And for Myrrhya."

The little girl watched them, then said with innocent certainty:

  "Mom, you love Dad."

Selene turned pale. Cold sweat ran down her temple. She stared into space.

"M-Myry! Where did you learn these things?!"

Myrrhya, confident yet confused, didn't understand the reaction.

  "Dad, do you love Mom?"

Dav smiled softly, looking at the little one.

  "Why? Shouldn't I?"

Selene turned as red as a pepper, burying her face in Dav's shoulder and clutching his shirt as if she could hide within him.

"You're too young for these things! I'll explain it to you later!"

she shouted, her voice muffled by Dav's chest.

But her heart was pounding, and deep down, she was happy.

That phrase had struck her, yes. But it had also saved her.

  Dav stroked her head again.

"Mom is strong thanks to you protecting her, Myrrhya."

"Was Myrrhya good? Right? I'm a good sword!"

exclaimed the little girl with joy.

  They all laughed together.

Sitting there, under a sky slowly shifting from red to purple, with the arena emptying and the wind carrying away the last shouts, it seemed time had stopped.

Selene turned slightly, looked at Dav, her hair tousled by the wind and loose, her bangs falling over her forehead.

She clung to that moment, wishing it would last forever.

  It was just a hug.

Myrrhya watched it all, noticing how her mother was happy in her father's arms, whom she initially thought was a monster with a monstrous aura.
