CHAPTER - 149 [Pact and Surprises]

  CHAPTER - 149

Narrator: Selene focused again and found herself once more in that dark place.

Looking around, clenching her hands, she spoke out loud:

"Hey, I'm back... I hope you had a peaceful discussion, though I doubt it..."

  But there was silence.

No sign of the sword, nor of those red and blue eyes that stared at her.

  Selene sat down.

She waited for several minutes, then she heard it.

"Why... why didn't you tell me he was a monster...?

I would have never invited him here!"

Suddenly, the little girl appeared behind her, crying.

It was the same one, with black hair and big eyes, the same color as those that had stared at her.

  She was crying, fists clenched.

Selene stood up and approached her.

She handed her a handkerchief she always kept in her pocket, being allergic to dust.

"Take this. I hope it helps you."

With a worried, almost motherly look, she wiped her tears.

  "Believe me, he's not bad.

He was just worried about me, I think.

  He's... really kind."

The girl looked up at Selene and, in a feeble voice, thanked her:

  "Thanks for the handkerchief."

Selene looked her more closely in the eyes and then added:

"You're really beautiful. Your eyes... are amazing.

It's pleasant to look at them on your face.

You'd have a line of boys out here."

Selene smiled gently, and with an affectionate tone she said:

"Would you like to talk a bit?"

The girl nodded, and they sat on the ground, facing each other.

"Not that I have much to say... I was just born.

I have nothing, I know nothing. As you can see... there's only darkness around here."

  Selene tilted her head slightly.

  "Do you have a name?"

"No. You should give me one, if you want to be my master."

  Selene began to think.

  "Let me think about it.

Tell me if you like these names, otherwise we'll come up with others, okay?"

  The girl nodded.

  "Syl? Nocth? Virelya?"

The little girl shook her head.

  Selene then thought harder.

Then, with a spark in her eyes, she said:

  "Myrrhya.

  Do you like that?"

  The sword smiled.

  "I really like it."

  Selene smiled in turn.

"Then... what about a title too?

Myrrhya, the Blade of the Two Skies.

  Sounds good, right?"

  Myrrhya looked at her, confused.

  "Why that title?"

  Selene explained:

"The sky of hell... and the blue sky of heaven.

  I think it's beautiful."

Myrrhya was stunned, mouth open. Then she repeated it, proudly:

"Myrrhya... the Blade of the Two Skies."

And then, with a firm and solemn voice:

"I, Myrrhya, the Blade of the Two Skies, swear to follow and be faithful to my only master, Selene, until death do us part."

  Selene hugged her.

  "Then call me mom.

I don't want to be your master. You're my child now."

Myrrhya smiled and hugged her tightly.

Selene looked around, still immersed in that black abyss, and said with resolve:

"I'll show you this world, so you won't have to live in this place full of darkness anymore."

At that moment, the contract began, and their minds joined.

On Selene's arm appeared a seal with the letter M, and on Myrrhya's, an S.

  "I have to go now.

But I’ll come visit again. Promise, Myry."

  Selene woke up.

She felt the mark on her arm, rolled up her sleeve, and showed it to Dav.

Then she gripped the sword and said:

"Now you're part of our family, Myrrhya."

  Selene smiled.

Dav looked at the sword and, in a joking tone, said:

"I hope you'll protect her, or else I’ll come pay you a visit, brat."

  The sword reacted:

  "Go away!"

Selene and Dav froze: they heard Myrrhya's voice coming from the sword.

"How is it possible that we can hear you, Myry?!

  I don’t understand... But Dav!?"

  Myrrhya laughed.

"Because he melted the crystal in his fire, in his hand, mixing it with his aura

and his mana... with his blood."

Selene and Dav couldn't believe it. A talking sword.

It felt like a movie or a video game.

  Myrrhya continued:

"Dad, didn’t you notice your hand?

Your calluses cracked open, and the blood flowed with the crystal.

Look at the red streaks on the blade."

Dav looked at his hand: the calluses were split open, crusted with blood.

Selene, on the other hand, blushed, embarrassed.

"Dad?! I’m the mom! So she's our daughter?!"

Dav held the sword and asked:

"Myry... is there a chance you could materialize as a person, since you can speak, you have my blood and...?"

Myrrhya was silent for a moment. Selene stared at him, serious.

  Then she replied:

  "Yes. It’s possible.

But I’ve just been born. I don’t have enough strength.

You’ll have to infuse all the crystal you haven’t used yet.

Only then can I materialize there with you."

Selene, surprised, came closer to the sword and said with excited voice:

"This means that... you'll really be our daughter, if you can take a human form?!"

  Myrrhya laughed and replied:

  "Exactly, Mom."
