Chapter 25 The War Breaks Out

The Hot Sand Consortium is a rather prominent goblin organization in the vicinity, standing in stark contrast to those vagabond goblin bands.

Despite being goblins, these individuals are flush with wealth.

They have mastered alchemy and magic potion - making, extracting every possible resource from the sand.

The once yellowish - brown sand, after their intensive processing, has all transformed into black - charcoal - like residue.

Resembling certain types of foul - smelling sewage, such sand is inhospitable even to the hardiest sand cockroaches.

Nevertheless, it's undeniable that these goblins possess some rather remarkable skills.

They are consummate experts at draining their customers' pockets of the last gold coin.

Should they encounter a customer lacking in strength, that customer promptly becomes their merchandise.

Moreover, since many tribes and cities possess goblin - tech products, the neighboring races are caught in a love - hate relationship with them.

If it hadn't been for the fact that these goblins had thoroughly enraged the dwarves of Giant Sand City this time, and with the presence of Gorgin's Dragon's Lair Tribe, the dwarves of Giant Sand City would never have been willing to deplete their resources to take them on.

During the journey, the dwarves from Giant Sand City led the way, the gnolls memorized the route, and the ogres simply followed suit.

It took a full ten days just to reach the territory of the Hot Sand Consortium.

However, by the fifth day, if not for the kodo beast carrying an ample supply of dried meat and Gorgin bringing along the clear - water tank, the ogres would have starved to death long before reaching their destination.

The clear - water tank provided only about half a ton of water daily, barely sufficient to meet the ogres' basic hydration needs.

But the ogres couldn't have cared less; they weren't about to die of thirst.

In this harsh land, as long as it wasn't a matter of life - and - death, it was considered a minor issue.

When the ground began to exhibit charred gravel, Gorgin knew that the battle was on the horizon.

Goblin excavators had already started to appear in the area.

These ruggedly designed excavators roared thunderously as they loaded sand onto transport vehicles, which then ferried the sand to smelting furnaces for processing.

Subsequently, the residue was hauled back and dumped.

The steam tank let out a deafening bellow, and its absurdly thick cannon barrel boomed, firing a shell at a perceptible speed.

Just as Gorgin had expected, the shot was wide of the mark, but it jolted all the goblin excavators. And thus, the battle commenced.

The goblin excavators were not merely tools; they were also weapons of war.

Although these excavators appeared puny compared to the steam tank, they were more than a match for the dwarves.

"Chief of the Dragon's Lair Tribe!"

Witnessing those goblins charging forward, the dwarf leader swiveled around to look at the ogres at the rear of the formation.

"Nu, lead the others and let those green - skinned imps taste the brutality of the ogres!" Gorgin waved his hand behind him.

"Waaaaahg!!!" Nu roared, brandishing his weapon and spearheading the charge towards the goblin excavators.

All the ogres, save for Gorgin's mother, charged forward with fierce howls.

The goblins operating the excavators were dumbfounded.

"Damn it! How could there be ogres here?!"

"Those short, stubby dwarves, how on earth could they have tamed the ogres?"

  "Run!!"

  "No... no... Mom!!!"

The goblin excavators stood at a mere three meters in height.

They were imposing in the eyes of the goblins, who were shorter than the dwarves, but in the presence of the ogres, they were nothing more than over - sized playthings.

The instant Nu's big bone hammer clashed with the bucket of the goblin excavator, searing flames erupted, surging directly towards the goblin in the rear cab.

The goblin had no time to react and was nearly incinerated on the spot. Nu's second hammer blow then pulverized the cab.

Nu hoisted his big bone hammer high and roared: "Krummashaaar!!!"

The battles of the other ogres, though not as swift as Nu's, were equally effective.

They rapidly caught up with the goblin excavators and eliminated the goblins.

The goblins had been so overconfident that all their cabs were open - air and entirely unprotected.

Some ogres even snatched a goblin on the spot and stuffed it into their mouths. The scene was shockingly bloody.

The dwarves had foreseen the overwhelming might of the ogres' attack.

However, they were truly astounded by the big bone hammer that unleashed searing flames.

"This... this... Could this be another ogre mage?" The dwarf leader, perched on the steam tank, stared in disbelief at Nu as he returned, carrying the big bone hammer.

Nu shot the dwarf a quizzical look and then retreated behind Gorgin.

He used the tattered cloth that covered his private parts to meticulously wipe the green blood off the big bone hammer, as if it were a precious artifact.

The dwarf leader was once again perplexed. With that level of intelligence... it didn't seem likely...

The other ogres once more cast envious glances at Nu. Nu's smug expression was impossible to conceal, even with his single large eye.

"This..." The dwarf leader turned his inquisitive gaze towards Gorgin, who was seated on the back of the kodo beast.

Gorgin waved his hands vigorously: "It's just a little trick of our tribe. It's not worth mentioning, not worth mentioning. Hehehahaha!!"

The dwarf didn't understand, but he thought it was truly astonishing.

That object clearly resembled an ordinary big bone club, devoid of any enchantments, yet it could unleash flames in the hands of an ordinary ogre.

It was simply mind - boggling.

After eliminating some of the goblin excavators, the Hot Sand Consortium quickly retaliated.

They had no choice, as the dwarf airship had already begun to descend in altitude to bombard the city of the Hot Sand Consortium below.

However, for safety's sake, the airship didn't lower its altitude too drastically.

The goblins' skyrockets were quite powerful, and if they punctured the airship, it would be a disastrous outcome.

The battle between the dwarves of Giant Sand City and the goblins of the Hot Sand Consortium had officially erupted.

Under the protection of the steam tank, a hundred dwarves demonstrated to the goblins of the Hot Sand Consortium what a textbook infantry - tank coordination looked like.

Even Gorgin, who was notoriously picky, had to concede that these dwarves were indeed the elite forces of Giant Sand City.

The main combatant of the Hot Sand Consortium was a colossal goblin mining excavator, standing a full seven meters tall.

On the left was a massive digging bucket, and on the right was a high - speed rotating chainsaw.

The third - in - command of the Hot Sand Consortium sat in the cab, seemingly invincible.

The goblin mining excavator even withstood a direct hit from a steam - tank shell, its body merely swaying slightly.

"Chief of the Dragon's Lair Tribe, please honor our agreement and lend us a hand." The dwarf leader's expression was grave.

Gorgin leaped down from the back of the kodo beast, gripping a big bone hammer.

  "Ogres always keep their word!"

  "Take down those goblins!"

  "Waaagh!!"

Gorgin grinned malevolently and charged towards the goblin mining excavator.

A scarlet glow enveloped him, causing his body to seem to expand slightly.

"Mom, you go and help take down the other goblins. I've got my eyes on this one!"

Gorgin licked his lips, his face contorted with a bloodthirsty expression.

Among all the ogres in the Dragon's Lair Tribe, one could say that Gorgin was young and devious, but no one could claim that he was weak.

This was the unanimous opinion of all the ogres, including his mother, Horne.
