The interior of this house was small, there were 3 main entryways and a staircase leading to the upper floor.
Where would I be able to find Yu Haeun?
And before the illusionist? They can easily trick me into areas far from where she could be.
I should assess the situation carefully, and think of it like a turn-based or detective game.
Each step matters, and each fatal error I make could cause Yu Haeun’s downfall.
Where do most people hide?
Closets.. Under beds.. in a compartment?
The most logical area to search should be upstairs.
I treaded cautiously up the stairs.
Hang on.
Can’t I just use my ability?
A bloodied paper and pen manifested in my hands.
I— I didn’t think of this.
Does the ability just choose for me..?
“What am I supposed to do with this..?”
I mumbled, confused with the objects given to me that trickled throughout my hands.
A glowing, radiating golden aura swaddled me and my mind cleared up.
I was suddenly overcome with excruciating agony, my mind burst with heaps of knowledge seeping out of each crevice. I fell onto my knees, gripping onto my head.
I uncontrollably shook, my mind was swarmed. I was transcending the realm of ‘human’, I couldn’t stop my tears from flowing out. I was profusely sweating, gasping for even the most minimal air.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
I’m going to die.
I clutched at my neck, grasping onto the wall of the house for extra support.
I don’t want to die.
Not yet!

The pain ceased immediately, and the grip on my thought alleviated. I was now in a state of ‘Enlightenment’.
I could understand, I was aware of all intellectual movement. All other senses fogged up as my mind cleared immensely. The inners of the house were shifting, corresponding to the illusionist’s will.
I now knew what was real or fake.
The pen autonomously moved on its own, scribbling the name “Yu Haeun” on the Scribe’s Palette. Her name illuminated a golden hue, contrasting the colour of red from the book.
<“YU HAEUN” must be thinking of you to discover her current location>
What?
Well, now what..?
Should I start shouting her name until she starts thinking of me? When will that be? I’ve only met her a few hours ago, why would she possibly be ever thinking about me?
“Yu Haeun!”
I yelled repeatedly out of desperation until my voice went hoarse and dry.
I can’t have her die yet,
She’s useful.
<“YU HAEUN” has been located>
A golden trail twisted throughout the hallways, navigating towards the bedroom at the final room.
I quickly followed behind the glow, hoping to find Yu Haeun at the end of it.
The panting seeping out of my mouth resonated inside my head.
This way, that way, this way!
I thumped against the wall.
A dead end?
That can’t be possible.. the golden trail goes through the wall..?
I intricately searched the surrounding area for a button, or a contraception that could push the wall aside.
Suddenly, I stepped through a wall, not the one intended, but I still managed to slip through it. I landed face first into a room that definitely wasn’t here before.
This must have been caused by the Illusionist.
Drip.
I touched my nose and looked back at my hand. Blood was leaking out of my nose in large amounts. I frantically scrambled to wipe off the blood, staining my cheeks in blood.
Once getting up, I quickly dusted off my clothes. In the midst of cleaning, I noticed that under a desk, a yellow star glimmered brightly in the dark.
That must be the only way to open the wall.
I stumbled towards the star, feeling under the desk for a button or a lever. Slamming my hand, I managed to hit the button.
Crrrkkkk…
The ground shook violently, as something heavy pulled itself across the floor.
I returned back to the hallway where the obstacle had moved itself into the gap in the left-side of the wall.
<5 minutes remaining: Ibis’ Final Wisdom>
A chill ran down my spine and my forehead was covered in sweat. This feeling could be compared to hypothermia. There’s bound to be consequences if I use this skill for too long.. maybe I’ll be killed over and again.
I laughed at my own pity.
But there’s no time left to lament over my suffering, I needed to find Yu Haeun.
I quickly ran down the hall, tracing the golden trail until it went inside a room.
Specifically a bedroom.
“Yu-nim?”
I said, a bit worried.
“Myo-nim?”
A voice called out and I instantly felt relieved.
My feet gave up and I immediately melted into the floor, collapsing onto my knees.
“When did one of your eyes turn golden?”
What is she talking about—?
Hang on. Golden?
That must be caused by using
I told her I didn’t have an ability as well..
“Must be from the Illusionist. I had a hard time trying to find you after all.”
—
Objective: Find “Yu Haeun” before the Illusionist does
Reward: 500 coins
Time: 1 hour
I glanced over to the display window and sighed of relief.
“Makes somewhat sense.. your eye isn’t golden anymore.”
She said, covering her mouth.
“Yeah..”
I wearily said, my voice becoming dry.
A violent urge to cough gripped at my throat, instinctively I threw up my insides.
Blood splattered against the floor, and leaked from the corners of my mouth.
I only used the ability for a few minutes, why—?
