Ch.10 Our New Home

“Wh- where am I?” I ask bewildered as I wake up. “Don’t worry we’re back home” Grace says while stroking her fingers through my hair. “Arghh” I cry out in pain as I try to stand. “Don’t move!” Grace shouts at me in worry. “Arghh, what happened to me?” I ask starting to feel pain in my legs again. “That wolf tore up your legs” she says to me quietly. “How long?” I ask, “What?” she asks, “How long was I out?” I ask her while fearing what she might say. “A day” she says to me in a worried tone of voice. “Where are Olivia and Lucy?” I ask worried. She points behind me silently, and I turn and see them watching over me with worried looks on their faces. “Are you girls ok?” I ask in a concerned tone of the voice. They nod. “Good” I say while letting out a sigh of relief. “Status” I say while fearing the worst.

“Shit” I curse under my breath. “Well at least it’s not permanent” I say as I imagine other, worse outcomes. “I need to do something, but what?” I ask myself while deep in thought.

  Ding!

“The Hell?” I say in a confused tone. “System Update?” I say to myself disbelievingly. “Do you girls see this?” I ask them. They all nod. “I guess we should wait here a couple hours then” I say before pulling Grace down and kissing her strongly. “Good night” I say pulling my blanket over us and closing my eyes to go back to sleep.

  Three Hours Later

  (cue the music! :D)

After studying the list and thinking for a while I decide what class and sub-class to choose. “Choose First Class “Martial Artist” Choose First Sub-Class “Slaver” I say aloud, my heart steeling as I voice my Choices.

Looking down at Grace, I see her deep in thought. Seeming to have made up her mind she sits up. “Choose First Class “Illusionist” Choose First Sub-Class “Spearman” she says, her body visibly untensing itself as she sighs in relief. “It’s a lot of new information isn’t it?” I say to her as more of an answer than a question as I reach up and start rubbing her shoulders. “Ohhh, yeah thanks” she says leaning back into my arms.

“System Lottery” I say as I continue to rub Grace’s shoulders.

“Point Exchange” I say staring at the bright, flashing, blue screen before me.

`“Exchange” I say aloud while thinking of the items I wanted to trade in.

“Weapon Lottery times three” I say hopefully.

“Shit Fire!” I swear loudly as I look at the results of the lottery. “Armor Lottery times two” I say angrily.

“Well… It’s better than nothing I guess” I say to myself while being confused as to whether this was a good or a bad result. “Status Lottery times one, Skill Lottery times two” I say quietly while hoping for the best and fearing the worst.

“Thank God” I say while exhaling the breath I had been holding in. “Race Lottery times two” I say deciding we didn’t need potions as of now.

“The Hell, Fallen Angel?” I say to myself confused. “Fallen Angel” I say to myself.

“What’s that?” asks Grace. “This” I say, holding up the book “Is a race change book”, “And this” I say, holding up the armor “Is your new armor”, “And this” I say, holding up the dagger “Is utterly and totally useless”

“hihi” she giggles at me. “What’s so funny?” I ask glaring at her which only makes her laugh harder. “Nothing” she says trying and failing to conceal a grin. I make a “Humph” noise and glare at her which makes her laugh harder. “Fine, be like that then” I say as I start to stare at the book. “Wait what are you doi-” Grace says before a light flashes and I pass out.

  30 Minutes Later

“Hey come on Daemon wake up already!” I hear a faint, worried voice cry out as I awake. “Wh- What” I say groggily before a screen pops up in front of me.

“Daemon, Daemon can you hear me!” I hear Grace shout as I look away from the screens. “I- I’m sorry what?” I ask her. “Why did you do that?” she asks exasperatedly. “What do you mean?” I ask her. “Why did you change into that?” she almost shouts at me. “Why not?” I say in a questioning manner. “Wh- Why no-, huh why not?” she says to herself questioningly.

Turning my attention away from her I look back at the class screen for more details.

“Choose class Unholy Bladesman, Choose Sub-Class Unholy Crafter” I say having made my decisions.

Finally done reading the messages I feel a strange weight pulling on my back. Turning my head sideways I see a mass of black feathers with red streaks throughout folded against my back. Feeling a strange sensation on my back I turn and see Olivia stroking my wings, “Sorry master” Olivia says in my mind, a blush lighting up her face. “It’s Fine Olivia” I say while grinning at her. “Hey Grace” I say looking over at her, “Grace” I say again shaking her shoulder and causing her to jump. “You ok?” I ask her concerned. “What” she says, her eyes snapping back into focus. “Are you ok?” I say to her. “Yeah I was just thinking” she says.

Grinning at the level up, I slide my hands down to the back of my leg and prepare myself. “Healing Hands” I chant out.

-10 Mp. +1Hp. You are no longer crippled!

Standing up I test my new balance while slightly leaning forwards to compensate for the weight of my new wings. Straightening up, I take a few tentative steps and start walking in circles.

  A Few Hours Later

Having mastered the art of moving in this new body I start to look at my equipment.

“Well Shit!” I curse realizing that neither my armor nor my soft armor will fit and that the bow grip was too small. “Well time to get to work I guess” I say pulling out a piece of goblin leather and sewing it onto the grip that’s already there. “Ok I need to go make some things are you coming with me?” I say as I turn and look at the girls. Grace and Olivia shake their heads, and Lucy walks up to me. “Let’s go then Lucy” I say storing the items back into my inventory and walking towards the door.

  A Few Minutes Later

“That should be the last of them” I say as Lucy drags the last corpse into the pile, and I activate “Wings of Fire”

“This should do” I say while scanning the throne room with my eyes and giving a satisfied nod. Walking out of the door, with Lucy following me I walk into the Botany lab and pick up one of the tables carrying it back to my new workshop, before repeating the process with the rest of the tables. Walking into the Chemistry Lab I take my hatchet out of my belt loop and start hacking at the bottom of one of the “islands”, and, having removed it, pick it up, and bring it to the throne room. Going into the storage room I start picking up boxes and moving them out of the room. Opening all the boxes I catalogue all the items.

Opening up the box of extension cords, I walk out into the hall and connect a line of them together and string them into my workshop. Plugging in the hotplates and getting out the gas for the Bunsen burners, I start getting out all of my materials. First I get out all of the corpses and set them out on two different tables. Next I take out one of Olivia’s extra daggers and start dissecting them.

Ignoring the messages I store the meat and alchemy ingredients in my inventory. Picking up some of the bones I drop them into the pots of boiling water that are over the Bunsen burners. Taking the Direwolf hides off the table I scrape all of the fur and flesh off of them leaving nothing but black leather behind. Taking out the extra shields I had taken from Grace I use my axe to smash all of the rotting wood and leather off of two of the metal shield bosses. Picking up my plate armor I lay a Direwolf hide over it and cut the edges off of it. Walking over to one of the pots that I had put the bones in earlier I scoop out some of the sticky white liquid that had formed over the top of the water and start to spread it over the hide. Having finished coating the hide in the glue I put another hide on top of it and repeat the process several times. Picking up the Shadow Direwolf leather I set it over the shield bosses and cut out two circles, before setting the shield bosses over the last hide I had stacked and coating this one in glue. Fitting the Hide over the bosses I use the screws and one of the screwdrivers to drill holes in the corners of the leather plate and remove the screws from the armor. Repeating the process again minus the shield bosses and the Shadow Direwolf leather I make a second plate. Picking up the pieces of hide that I had cut off I cut them into strips. Taking one of the strips I push it through a hole in one of the top corners gluing it down, and repeating the process in one of the other corners. Slipping the armor over my head and slotting my wings around the sides of the armor I tie two more strips of leather into the bottom corners completing the armor.

I nod in satisfaction as I call Lucy over and pull out the rest of the leather. Picking Lucy up and setting her on the table I measure her front paws and then set her back down on the floor.

Picking up a hammer, a dagger, and box of nails, I use the dagger like a chisel with the hammer to cut off the flat part of the nails, before repeating the process several more times. Using Lucy’s measurements I pullout two pieces of hobgoblin leather and make them into cups, then sewing them together and coating the stiches with leftover glue. While waiting for the glue to dry I take out four goblin knee caps and cut them into round discs which I then slide into the bottom of the cups, and below the cups. Taking out the nails I had cut down earlier I hammer them through the bone and leather and then glue the bone to the bottom of the leather. I then cut several circles out of the shaved and unshaved Direwolf hide and use them to pad the “shoes”, I then take out several sets of Direwolf claws and some hobgoblin bones which I then cut down to the same size as the Direwolf claws but with a knob sticking out on the back of it and file the bones till they’re sharp and pointy. Taking the claw shaped bones I punch them through the front of the leather and glue them into place. Having finished this one I repeat the process three more times.

Picking up the finished product, I call Lucy over and slot them over her feet. “Thank you Master” She says in my head while licking my face. While rubbing her head I reach over and pick up all of my materials and store them into my inventory.

As I look through my inventory I think up a plan for all of my items. First I go and retrieve everything from the supply room. Next I remove everything from the boxes and start writing new labels on them.

Next I take the clothes lines and hang them from nails that I hammered into the walls. After that I cut all of my plants in half and pin all of them onto the first two lines. Then I salt all of my hides and hang up them to dry. After that I separate all of my alchemy ingredients and bones and store them into their proper boxes. After that I put all of the cleaning chemicals into a box with my chemicals and put it, along with my alchemy ingredients into my inventory. As I pick up all of the goblin byproducts and get ready to throw them away, but then I look at Lucy. “Do you eat goblin?” I ask her with raised eyebrows. “Woof” she barks out nodding her head after thinking for a moment. Taking the goblin meat I put it in the food box with the Direwolf meat and throw away the rest of the products. Picking up the gloves, masks, and the goggles I put them in the box labeled safety equipment, and stack them on top of the box of bones against the wall. Taking the pulverizing sets, needles, multi-tool, daggers, pencils, matches, and the toolbox I set them down in the box labeled tools and move it against the wall. I take the duct tape, thread, pvc, plywood, ands notebooks out of my inventory and drop them into the crafting materials box, before setting it next to the other boxes. I pick up the beakers and set them down in two rows on one of the tables. Pulling two of the bags out of my inventory I fill one with all of the extra weapons and one with the extra armor.

“Come on Lucy let’s go get the girls” I say to her while turning towards the door. “Come on Grace, come on Olivia let’s go” I say while picking everything up off of the floor. “Where are we going?” Grace asks me. “The throne room” I say, grabbing her hand as I walk by her. “Why?” she asks me as I pull her out the door. “Just trust me” I say walking down the hall pulling her along. “Voila” I say showing her the room, “Now all it needs is beds” I say grinning at her. “Let me have all of our extra stuff” I say looking at them. Opening their inventories they dump all of their extra items in a pile on the ground.

Picking up the weapons I put them into one of the bags and set it next to the wall. Next I put the food and drinks into their respective boxes and throw them into my inventory. Taking the potions I throw them into my inventory, and then put the beanie in with the armor, while taking out the metamorphosis armor and the soft armor. “Here Grace” I say pulling out the metamorphosis armor, “Thanks Daemon” she says leaning up and kissing me. “Olivia take this” I say handing her my old soft armor. “Thank you Master” she says while blushing. I walk over to the platform where the throne is and rip it out of the floor. Moving the throne I set it down at the head of one of the tables. Walking back up to the platform I layer the sleeping bags on top of it to make a thick layer of cushions. Walking back over to the pile I pick up the paper and put it in the crafting materials bin. Turning around and looking at the girls I ask “What do you think of our new home?”
