Ch. 8 - Assimilate

After two days of constant fighting, I finally won the battle. Littered around me are countless corpses of those roaches. I sat down on top of the highest hill of corpses. Fatigue is evident on me. I lost my right arm as well as my two wings. My left foot is missing its half while my right leg is halfway eaten. My left horn is broken down to the base while my right horn snapped in two. I really need to absorb essences now to get back to my peak condition.

Throughout the fight I was able to perfect my dual bone-sword technique. I also learned to use void energies allowing me to teleport as well as disappear like the Dark Templars. I was also able to mind control a creature to fight for me. I also learned to swap location with a target which helped me in very tough situations. I held one of the corpse with my left hand and began to absorb the corpse as well as its essences. My wound regenerate at a visible rate but it was not enough to regenerate lost limbs. I pick up another corpse and did the process again and again until I regenerated everything. I went to Abathur's corpse and absorbed his essence.

Suddenly, my vision went blank. I looked through Abathur's memory and essences he collected. This never happened when I absorbed those roaches. My best guess is because they only hunted within this location and never travelled far. After a few minutes, I regained my vision and Abathur's memory was then assimilated to me. All his knowledge and wisdom including how to manipulate genes to create Zerg units was also transferred to me. I then picked up his corpse and and a large roach corpse. I check that it would seem insufficient to use this corpse. I think It would be best to use a spider or something similar. I then gathered all the corpses and gathered them in one place. After an hour of gathering the corpses, I went to the east. If Abathur's memory serves me right, there is a spider-like specie that fits my need to create a new Zerg unit or upgrade an existing one as well as a hidden hive nearest to my location. I plan to control a drone and create a base from there. Three hours after he left, an inconspicuous pod shot up to the sky from the former Evolution Chamber.

After a few hours of walking, I encountered the hidden hive. Seeing that the defenses are quite thin and scattered due to almost no attacks from the natives here, I slipped in easily. I tried to find a lone drone but they travel in groups of three. The least one I saw travelled in pairs. I went nearer to the Hive when I suddenly felt the urge to stop. I didn't dare move a muscle since I still felt something was off. A few minutes later a hidden Nydus worm emerged from the ground 10 feet away from me. A Queen then emerged from the Nydus Worm.

"Strange, I just felt something was moving toward this direction." The Queen exclaimed.

"It must be just some random wind pressure my Queen. It is common in this place specially the volcanic belt." spoke a Lurker which emerge just a few meters to the left of me.

"It felt wrong..." the Queen then stared at my location. I immediately used Mind Control on the Queen. I then psionically send a command to let it pass as a random wind pressure."Al'gorash, I think you are right. I'm probably just too sensitive. Please try to scout the western side, check if there are no natives entering the place."

"Yes my Queen." the Lurker named Al'gorash then burrowed back and felt the him move to the western side.

After ensuring that the Lurker is now gone and no other Zerg units are near aside from the Queen. I then command her to let me enter the Hive. We both went inside the Hive and went to a room that no one can enter without her permission. I then asked the Queen to lower her head so that I can use Assimilate on her so I can copy her memory. A few minutes afterwards, I released my hand from her head and looked through her memory.

"So it seems I am on a planet that is found near the edge of the universe too far from the Terran Colonies as well as Char and its subsytems. Zerus and its subsystem is also a bit too far to the northwest. Auir and its subsystems is directly north of me also at the other edge. I have no information where Shakuras or its subsystems could be from my general location but I guess its also far from here." I then turned to the Queen "Tell every Zerg in your colony to gather infront of the Hive."

"Yes my Lord." the Queen replied.

I guess its time for me to control this colony and fulfill the Duty that was bestowed to me.
