B5 | Chapter 1

  Alexia

And that makes another day without running into any piranhas. This is really becoming a nice little streak of no piranha days.

When I came back into the Tier 5 dungeon, I was certain I was going to run into some piranhas at some point within the strongest ‘planet’ of the dungeon. It just felt inevitable. Like it was bound to happen.

What with the dungeon’s obsession with piranhas and all.

But nope. I haven’t run into a single piranha yet.

Just all these incredibly annoying scorpions.

And the scorpions in question still don’t want to die easily. Leaving me struggling with killing them.

The scorpions can’t really catch me either though, since I can just teleport all over the place. So it ends up being just as much of a stalemate as it was the last time I was here.

But I do manage to kill some from time to time. And each kill here means a lot of EXP for me, raising my level a good chunk.

Of course, that means I gradually grow stronger and stronger as I spend entire weeks fighting around the ‘planet’. Which is just a bunch of rubble surrounding some sort of wormhole with gravity all messed up here. All with numerous other wormholes scattered throughout the place.

And this time I can fight in peace without trillions of people stalking me through the livestream. So yay for that.

Despite how annoying these scorpions are to kill, I actually manage to enjoy myself as I fight through them all.

Until some of the scorpions manage to knock me into a wormhole and I find myself appearing within some sort of large dark place. A place I can only vaguely sense the edges of without actually being able to see.

Which shouldn’t be possible with my eyes that can see clearly even without any light whatsoever.

  My eyes narrow.

And I’m not alone in here either.

There’s several monsters moving around. Just floating in the air.

I keep an eye on the monsters using my energy sensing capabilities – seeing as I can’t actually see them – before one of them suddenly begins to rush towards me. Making me blast at it with a quantum bolt.

  Stolen novel; please report.

Only for said monster to completely tank the quantum bolt without even slowing down before tackling me and sending me flying into the edge of the space here.

I cough out a mouthful of glitchy purplish red blood as pain wracks my body. But it doesn’t last long before I use Quantum Reversal to reverse any and all of the damage. Then I teleport away right when another one of the monsters is about to attack me, leaving it to slam into the wall instead.

  Well this isn’t good.

I can’t see them, they can just shrug off my quantum bolts, and they’re strong and fast enough to send me flying without letting me respond very quickly.

From what I can tell based on the size of their energy signatures, the monsters aren’t all that big. Bigger than me, sure, but only a couple meters in diameter overall. With the form of some sort of ball.

Please tell me they’re not piranhas. Because they kinda feel like they’re shaped like fish. And I want this no-piranha streak to last longer.

Since quantum bolts don’t work, I go ahead and try something else. Specifically more powerful quantum magic attacks through my skills. But none of my other offensive skills work either.

So I move over towards anti-magic bullets. And those actually surprisingly work.

Rather well, in fact, as they blast a hole through the darkness. Almost like they’re dispelling the darkness itself.

Which, in turn, allows me to clearly see the monsters charging at me now that the darkness is gone between us.

They’re actually not piranhas. In fact, they’re not fish at all. Nor are they actually the shape I thought they were.

The monsters are actually octopuses. Or octopi? Is that the right term?

Either way, they’re octopuses that have their tentacles wrapped around their bodies almost like they’re hugging themselves. Except that right after light begins to hit them, they finally spread out their tentacles in some sort of frenzy. Almost like they’re frightened of the light or something.

I don’t really care much about their fear though as I continue peppering them with anti-magic bullets.

Bullets that pass straight through their tentacles with ease before poking holes in their main bodies.

Huh. These things really are weak against the anti-magic bullets.

Which is weird considering what these bullets are made out of. What with them pretty much just being condensed energy that’s meant to shatter spell circles from a distance.

Well, at the end of the day, it works. So it’s best not to question it.

I’ve heard programmers from before the Reset say something like that for programming too. Half the time a program works they have no idea why but don’t want to touch it further because they may make it not work again by accident.

Although I kind of doubt these anti-magic bullets will just suddenly stop working out of nowhere.

Anyways, I continue peppering the monsters with them all around me before they eventually die off completely. But not without me managing to identify one of them, of course.

During which process I manage to find that they’re actually higher level than the scorpions outside of this place. Standing at a grand level 2100.

Hmm. Yeah, these things aren’t actually that hard to kill when I’m using anti-magic bullets.

Who would’ve thought that I’d be able to kill a bunch of monsters with these bullets alone?

A faint smile creeps onto my face as I continue killing off the rest of the octopuses – I decided on this term because why not – until I finally finish off all of the monsters. At which point I turn my attention to the tiny wormhole I ended up revealing while shooting everywhere.

Okay, time to check where this goes.

Hopefully a place with more of these monsters. Because they give good EXP.
