Neri, the Old Angel

  They go inside.

Neri (4lp) sits comfortably in a cushioned seat. His house is small, but tastefully decorated. A calm green on the walls, and a roaring fire in the hearth.

The four pile in, taking up a lot more room than Neri's used to. He seems much taller than the rest, regarding them each with the look of a distinguished man in a room full of barbarians.

Neri: Allow me to guess why you're here?

  Robert: Feel free, Neri.

Neri: You want me to die, or be brought to the mercy of our realm.

  Del: That's pretty much it.

Neri: Goodness, what's happened to you?

Del: Their new friend killed me. Dylan brought me back.

Neri appears to have not understood him.

  Neri: You... can die?

  Del: Appears so, yeah.

Neri taps his fingers on his end table.

  Neri: I wasn't aware.

  Neri looks deeply concerned.

Neri: No matter. I'll do the same as you. Find more Rogues to bring in.

Dylan: Wait, wait, we never offered that to you.

Neri: I doubt you were offered this, yourself. This sounds like one of your unapproved "plans".

Dylan: My plans are perfect. The only times they go wrong is when absolutely anyone else is involved,

Neri: You're saying, you could only do well in a bubble? In a vacuum?

Dylan: What's so wrong with that?

  Neri: A great deal.

Blade: If he's willing to offer his help, I say we take it.

Dylan: Easy for you to say! You've never met this man, you haven't had to deal with him!

Neri: Neither have you. You've only dealt with me through Robert.

Dylan: I know, and listen to him! Him and his superiority complex, with his "I've killed more than anyone in my generation" and his "I'm the reason for most of the souls making it here.". So what? Anyone can do what you did when you’ve known the boss as long as you have...

Neri: Why do you think I've known him for so long?

  Dylan: 'Cause you're an ass-kisser!

  Neri raises an eyebrow.

Neri: I'm respected in my field. That is all. I mean no offense, Dylan, but I think you would have benefited more by simply working your way through the ranks.

Dylan: I'm too impatient for that.

Neri: Which has been the catalyst for all these events, correct?

  Dylan shrugs angrily.

Dylan: Yeah, of course "correct". Course-correct. Ships. Sorry, I'm a little distracted.

Neri: Verily. I suggest you allow me to come along. Your numbers are a tad thin. Wouldn't you say?

Blade: Please do it, guys. Robert, what do you think?

Robert: We should let Neri come.

Dylan: No! No! Anything but that!

Robert: Is there anything you do besides disagree with everything we say?

Dylan: No! I've never done anything like that!

Del interrupts, waving his bloody arms.

Del: That's enough! That's enough! Quit it!

Del fumes, breathes heavily, and takes stock of the situation.

Del: I can't believe I have to be the voice of reason. Let's make this simple; some of the people down here need to die. Some don't. We'll deal with them as we find them, since it's hard enough to track them down without help from the humans.

Blade: Are you sure you need help from us?

Del: Absolutely. You and your technology. It's perfect for keeping tabs on everybody. I never would've thought you people allowed your freedom to just be sold away like this...

Blade: We don't have much choice. It's either this, or living in the woods.

Del: If I were human, without my abilities, I'd live in the woods.

Dylan: Now you're getting off subject.

Del: Fine. We'll follow Neri's lead. He obviously seems to know about what we've got to do.

Robert: He didn't say that exactly-

Neri: Actually, I do have a few ideas...
