CHAPTER 7: Nysia

There is a border between the Kingdom of Nyx and the Kingdom of Elysia.

is the name of this borderland.

Nysia stretches from the far south all the way into the northern reaches. It effectively divides the land into eastern and western territories.

At the very center of Nysia, there is a tree.

The has many branches and it is so unimaginably tall that no one has ever seen the top of the tree.

The tree-top reached the sky, touching the clouds.

Half of its leaves are white, while the other half are black.

At the lowest part of the tree, there is a door.

This has unknown-intricate patterns covering the whole of it.

Rumors say that this particular door wasn't always there.

  …

Seven days before the first came to an end.

A soldier from Nyx, was passing through the border of Nysia. After reaching the tree area he saw a soldier standing before the lowest part of it, looking upwards with an expressionless face, wearing the military armor of Elysia.

The soldier from Nyx just glanced over for a moment and was about to exit the area when he jolted and looked back at the soldier from Elysia.

As if noticing the gaze, the Elysian soldier turned his head to the Nyxian soldier. He raised his right hand and waved at him, while wearing a smile on his face.

However, the Nyxian soldier’s pupils dilated and a cold shiver ran through this very being as he saw–

A person in white-armor turning his head towards him.

A face strikingly similar to himself, but it had no eyes, its eye sockets were like an endless abyss of darkness.

  Then.

The figure in white liftedright hand and waved at him, as two drops of dripped down its pale white face.

It also had a smile on its face.

  But

Soon the smile turned into a wide grin.

  And

At the next second, the Nyxian soldier's heart started racing as he broke into cold sweat-gulping hard, when he found the figure before him, grinning from

To him, it appeared like a was calling at him.

This scene caused the Nyxian soldier to faint.

He was rescued two days later by some other soldiers from his squad.

Two more days later, a similar case to this one took place at the tree part.

However this time, it was an Elysian soldier who came across a horrifying figure, who wore black Nyxian armor and had a devilish smile blooming in its face.

He was also rescued two days later after the incident.

The first had come to an end.

On this day, the royal family of Nyx and Elysia just arrived near the tree.

They were just about to discuss some final terms when among the group of following soldiers a cry of surprise caught the attention of both side’s leaders.

They sent their men to look at the issue.

After receiving the details, they themselves went to investigate the lowest part of the tree and found a mysterious door with unknown-intricate patterns covering the whole of it.

  …

  At present.

  Nysia.

A tall and slender, black robed woman arrived in the area nearing the tree.

The woman had just crossed the eastern part of Nysia and entered the borderland.

Reaching to this particular point of her ,the figure took a pause, her eyebrows perked up as she lifted her chin upwards and with curiosity shining in her eyes, tried to see the top of the enormous tree before her. She saw the sky-reaching tree-top was touching the clouds.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

‘I wonder how it would feel to reach the top and look at this land from there…’

She thought as a hopeful smile covered her face.

‘I said I would be leaving Nyx in about two days.I don't know why… but my intuition told me to leave today. I've crossed quite a distance from the capital. And it's already Maybe, I should take a rest here and wait for the night to pass…’

Lowering her head she looked at the area, which almost touched the tree from the ground.

  Then.

  She walked in that direction.

  And

Found herself standing before a door.

She had heard about the before. But never saw any image.

Naqeera was born at the royal palace of Nyx. Since her birth, she has never left the kingdom of Nyx for the past twenty two years of her life.

Today is one the most important days of her life. Because, on this day she started a new journey in her life as she left the

Although she has many important and unique knowledge about all the other kingdoms, she was always curious to know more of them.

According to her judgement, this falls in that latter category of knowledge.

She took a deep breath and went closer to the for a clearer look.

After spending a few minutes silently observing the , she went under a long tree branch and sat down, her back against the

She let out a light sigh and closed her eyes.

  A few moments passed.

Then she opened her eyes abruptly and standing up, quickly reached the

Standing in front of the door, her eyes widened as she swallowed hard and removed some dust upon the unknown patterns with a part of her robe.

  “T-this pattern…!”

She exclaimed as she fell to her knees.

  …

  Five minutes ago.

  Atop the tree.

Inside a towering circular hall, ten meters tall and stretching to a hundred meters radius.

A light sound escaped from the tip of a knife as if slicing through a piece of meat.

The sound of chewing echoed through the entirety of the hall.

A fork and a knife dropped upon a plate of ceramic.

An old man in later years wearing a grey-robe filled with unique patterns, clicked his tongue in displeasure and said,

“What a waste! At first, that issue with supply and now this, a tasteless dish! Just what is going on?!”

Slamming his left fist on the three-meter long, luxurious looking wooden table, he continued with a frown,

“Maybe I have become too soft, due to my old age. That's why they are lacking in service! Humph! Just you wait till this old man c—”

Stopping midway, suddenly his eyebrows perked up as he shifted his head towards the ceramic plate.

From an outsider's point of view, it might seem like the man was looking at the plate before him.

In reality though, the man was looking at something far beyond that, his gaze fell upon a black figure.

The woman in black, just now seemed to have faced some great shock as she suddenly knelt on the ground with a look of disbelief clear on her face.

‘…It's the first time I'm seeing someone who actually recognized this pattern. I wonder who she is…and what she knows about it.’

The man thought as he stood up and randomly swiped his left hand in a direction when a showcase appeared before him.

  Then.

He picked up a jar, inside which, there was a pair of soaked in medicinal liquid.

  And

He grabbed those eyes pushing them into his empty eyelids.

Yes. Up until now, this old man didn't have any eyeballs inside his eye sockets.

‘I have to take a closer look at her and try to figure out if she has any ulterior motives behind this encounter with that door.’

The old man thought and closed his eyes.

A golden light flashed inside the hall as the figure vanished from there.

  Above the three-meter long table,

There was a ceramic plate with beautiful designs covering some of its areas.

On the plate, there was a dish.

It was covered in red gravy.

The bean-shaped dish had a tiny piece of it missing, as if someone just ate a bite but left the rest of the dish untouched.

  But

Five minutes ago, when the bean-shaped red dish was yet to be touched by the tip of a knife, it resembled a

  The kidney of a

  …

  At present.

  Beneath the tree.

Naqeera closed her eyes and tried to adjust her breathing when she felt a gaze being cast upon her from somewhere above, but couldn't pinpoint the location.

‘Hmm? Did someone else arrive while I was still in shock?’

Frowning, she stood up, straightened the robes, and started to scout the surrounding area.

Crushing some dried leaves,a sound of footsteps came to a pause.

Naqeera turned around to see, who just approached her from behind.

  An old voice spoke,

“Little girl, no need to be alarmed. I'm sorry for startling you. I was crossing the area, when I heard a ringing bell, indicating

So I thought about taking a break from my journey. Would you mind my company in this half-deserted area?”

Naqeera saw a grey-robed old man in his latter years of life. Listening to the words he spoke, as well as his elderly appearance, she decided to accept the arrival of this person, and she nodded slightly, hinting a sign of approval.

Then the old man thanked the woman in black before him. Perking up his white brows, he said,

“Thank you! Thank you! It's rare to see someone with goodwill among the younger generation these days. Since you gave this old man some face, how about I compensate for the I caused earlier?”

Naqeera unknowingly felt at ease, as if she was speaking with her grandfather, she silently nodded in response to that compensation offer in a daze.

After seeing the look on her face, the old man’s eyes squinted and his lips curved up into a wide grin-reaching as he offered his compensation,

“Then I shall look into your future and you about the I see!"

  …

  Aetherwood, Aethelgard.

  Under the Redwood tree.

A young man pressed his back against the tree while letting out a loud sigh.

His eyes were dim, as though they've been through quite a hurdle just recently.

It's only been a few moments, when he just finished having a heavy conversation with

He drooped his shoulders while tousling his hair with left hand.

Pursing his lips, he closed his eyes.

Right now, he has a LOT to process in his head.

  He has things to memorize.

Things to come at terms with.

  Things to recover and discover.

Many pieces of thing are waiting to be put together by his hands.

He has people to deal with as well as people to make with.

Some things, he has to while some other, he has to

Suddenly he laughed at himself and adding a hint of irony to the voice he started to speak to himself,

“Only a few hours ago I was having a headache about my identity. I didn't know what to do with my life and these powers that I I didn't know that I had people to care about. And there are people who actually care about me…”

After reaching this part of his speech he stopped, as tears of sorrow started streaming across his face.

  Eyes-swollen, nose-reddened, he cried.

He cried for about half an hour.

Tears of grief and sadness soaked his body all over.

A few moments of silence followed.

Then he continued his unfinished from before–

“And now, only after a few short hours, I'm having a headache about myidentity. I know that there are things that need to be done, places which require my arrival, people who need to be dealt with. And most important of all, power, which I

Gritting his teeth, he took a deep breath, his bloodshot eyes looked at the ground before him, making his left hand into a tight-fist, he smashed the ground beneath it.

A booming sound surrounded the territory as the base of the Redwood tree shook violently.

  And

A staircase slowly appeared before him, rising up from a pile of dust.

  Then.

He stood up, as his eyes started to emit a golden light, he started to walk down the stairs.

  …

  The Kingdom of Elysia.

  Royal Palace.

Inside a room, at the very top of the palace.

A woman in white was sitting near a ten-feet long white mirror.

Her sharp-nose bore a hint of red.

Her eye areas were a bit swollen.

Her long, silky snow-white hair was disheveled.

As if she just barely managed to calm down after a stream of tears found its way from her eyes which had encircling golden pupils, into nothingness.

  Suddenly, the white figure trembled.

Then she immediately stood up and went near a window of the luxurious looking room.

This window was at the western part of the room.

The woman's strange set of eyes started to emit a golden light as she gazed deep into a particular area.

This particular area was actually a part of a borderline between two kingdoms.

is the name of that borderland.
