Search for Inspiration

Having finished his usual chores, Elias sank gently onto the sofa. Immediately, Ruby, Silvana, and Odis settled beside him. Taking out the invitation he had opened earlier in the hallway, Elias began to study it more closely. It contained a proposal to participate in a competition to create an advertising poster for the "Comet Sport" athletic footwear company.

?Elias knew this company well, as in his youth, he had been a devoted fan of the "Black Hawks" American football team, whose players often wore this brand. He had always desperately wanted those sneakers, which were considered a point of pride among all fans and a symbol of belonging, but he could never afford them, as even the cheapest pair cost around 450 dollars. Now, after being unemployed for two years, buying them seemed completely unthinkable. The envelope contained a photograph of the new line of sneakers that was to be the subject of his advertising poster.

?He stared thoughtfully at the photograph, realizing that he hadn't picked up a graphite pencil in a long time. Slowly, with a sense of doubt and some hesitation, he shifted his gaze from the sneakers to the device lying nearby. Abruptly, as if overcoming an internal barrier, he activated the virtual Fairy.

?"How can I help you?" she asked softly.

?"I can't find the right idea," Elias admitted. "What can you suggest to me regarding the creation of the advertisement?"

?"Elias, I cannot give you an idea," the Fairy replied. "My power lies in removing obstacles from your paths, not in paving them for you. True inspiration must come from within yourself. But believe me—you will create this poster."

?Elias absentmindedly took the TV remote and turned it on, as he always did in such moments. An ivory program was airing on the screen, showing ancient sailing ships conquering the vast reaches of the ocean. Elias watched, captivated, and an idea formed in his head: "What if I create a sneaker in the shape of Columbus's ship—a vessel that discovers new horizons?" But then he immediately thought, "No, that's cliché."

?He switched the channel, and starships from some science fiction movie flashed across the screen. He thought of a starship-sneaker conquering distant galaxies. But immediately, the thought echoed in his mind: "No, that theme has been overused for a long time, too."

?Elias mechanically switched the channel again, and the room was instantly filled with the roar of engines. Racing cars, like beasts of prey, tore across the screen in fierce competition. In that very second, a spark ignited in his mind. He stood up abruptly and walked into the small room where he and Elizabeth used to work on their sketches. He opened his pencil case and approached the easel, where a clean sheet of paper was already fixed. The spark in his head turned into a clear idea: "Comet Sport" sneakers wouldn't just be sitting on a shelf; they would be racing like sports cars, breaking away from a crowd of monotonous, boring competitors at breakneck speed.

?His hand instinctively reached for a pencil, and he began to draw the first lines on the fresh paper. He drew the "Comet Sport" sneakers, but their outlines already hinted at the predatory shapes of racing cars. The sharp, bold lines on the paper conveyed incredible speed and the passion for victory. In the background, he drew a winding race track along which these car-sneakers streaked toward the finish line, leaving the mass of rivals far behind.
