Chapter 9

The group walking further in it seemed to be a natural ecosystem within the dungeon. Birds, Insects could be heard in the canopies of the trees. Rodents, squirrels, chipmunks, and other small creatures were carrying on like their survival depended on the amount of food they could store. Deer, boar, and wolf tracks could be seen. How big the room was it couldn't be seen, but knowing that a dungeon usually didn't have to take up much space once it figured out how to compress space in a pocket it could be as big as a whole planet. This space would have to be carefully mapped.

“A person could spend weeks exploring a space like this,” Salena whispered in aww, “This dungeon is constantly surprising me.”

“Scott, can you climb the trees and look around to see which way we should look first.” Ethan suggested.

“Good Idea” Several of the members squawked.

A rabbit ran towards a hidden hole towards the side of the room. He was the scout that notified the dungeon fairy just in case a group made it into the secret room and no one was paying attention.

It thumped hard inside the core room. Jumped up and down to get the attention of the fairy. This took several minutes. The Bunny, exhausted, laid down chest heaving. Her masters were going to kill her.

Drake finally took notice. “Hey, we've got visitors in the special room.”

“Oh, Oh my! I can't believe I forgot about our first visitors! We need to watch them!” Ceselee exclaimed excitedly. Squealing ”They found my very special room. I hope they like it. It's my egg. My brain child. My present to those who find it. ”

Scott took to the trees. They were numerous. Yet, there was something peculiar about them. They seemed to be connected in a highway of branches. Once he was high enough he found an opening that looked like a door. Curious, he went inside. It seemed to be a house built directly inside the tree, everything was fulfilled by the trees, there were bathing rooms, bedrooms, and a room for waste, a central room for gathering a food prep area with what looked like a cooking area and storage. There was also a staircase that spiraled down the tree with more rooms held within. Areas of glowing moss lit up the areas in a blue light. He followed it all the way to the ground. He ran back to the group.

“ I've found something really interesting. It's a village in the trees. I don't know how to use it all but I believe it's really special. I think we're going to need an intellectual to look over it all.” Scott informed everyone.” This is going to attract the elves, and the king. I can't believe there is a luxury like this inside the dungeon and on the first floor. There is enough food, water, and shelter for a city people. While I was in the canopy I also saw a garden of herbs, fruiting trees, and nuts, plots of land for other gardens, pens of livestock pigs, and wild chickens. I think this dungeon wants us to bring things to plant, for use, and to explore but I don't know why. We must leave and report this immediately.”

"Not to fast friend. You've forgotten our mission we need to make it to the core room if we can, talk to the core if possible, and see how this dungeon progresses. Then we need to grade it based of resources, difficulties, puzzles, hidden rooms, traps, and design." Ivy managed to interject. "This will all go into our report. No need to leave early."

"Ivy is right. We need to get going. Doesn't look like anything dangerous is in here so back the way we came this room needs a company to survey." Ethan called back to the door that look so elaborate on this side." This time we don't stop till we get to the core."

  Some time later.

"That was way to easy for us." Steve said. " The biggest threat was the Wolf king and his pack and the wild boars in that weird root room. Still though I dont see where the core room is. We are going the correct way right."

"It's as if the core is hiding from us or from threats in general." Jacob replied scratching the back of his head.

"At least the rewards are perfect for the level. Coppers, silvers, and a gold in the last room , plus the corpses of our kills giving us meat, skins, organs, combined with the plants, mushrooms, trees, and vines that can be used for food and medicine. A chest at the pinnacle of the level not much in it but it did have iron ore, and crafting materials.”Hester commented. ”This dungeon has made itself a sustainable magical ecology with that hidden room it should never run out of mana for the next level. Bet that's why we haven't found the core room. It's on the next level and since that level isn't finished yet it's not opened up.”

"Hehehe" Ceselee was laughing," You were right Drake we put ourselves in the perfect spot. It's even better hidden than the hidden room and it is connected to everything in the dungeon. We are at the top of the dungeon above it all. The only way to find us is to find our staircase or use the rabbit warrens and people are too small for those."

"Didn't I tell you." Drake flicked his wings. " They will find us eventually but it may take them time. Time we have to build us a set of rooms so dangerous they have skulls around the doors and warnings to keep out."

"I was able to copy arrows, knives, a shield and a sword. They're going to be rewards on the next level." Ceselee's words expressed her happiness. "I have to start making new animal experiments. It's ridiculously hard though to get it right so the animal doesn't just keel over dead."
