Chapter 18

“War Chief,” bellowed a harsh voice as Vul’Goth rested in his large, carpet covered yurt.

He was in the middle of testing out his new arm and hand that grew back thanks to the orc shamans. He was delicately feeling the wrap around scar on his arm as he was slowly making a fist and moving each finger individually. His new tusk was slowly growing back as well. His new arm was a lighter shade of green in comparison to the rest of his dark green complexion. Vul’Goth sighed as he looked at himself from a hanging mirror from the center post.

Vul’Goth grunted in response as Gorag walked in taking off his helmet. Gorag was a massive orc in harsh and clawed up armor. He had a custom helmet that covered his entire face with a custom opening for his large tusks to protrude out making him look like metal worg with an underbite. His buzzed, mohawk stopped just at the nape of his thick neck. Despite his harsh and barbaric appearance, he had kind blue eyes like Vul’Goth.

  Vul’Goth asked, “News?”

  “War Chief… He has awakened.”

  “You don’t mean?”

“Yes… HE is back. One of the warriors came back a few months ago in the north east. He is with General Othgar and is… Broken from what I was just told… Also the humans have prepared a new task force to venture out to the Frozen mountains again. They have just left,” explained Gorag uneasily.

Vul’Goth stood up from his large bed as he gently put a tunic shirt on. He tied his long hair back as his face hardened into a sharp focus. He said, “I’ll go see what he found… Muster up your best warriors and take some of the Grave Guards with you. Come back to me and tell me how many you bring. It’ll be a longer journey to make in comparison to the humans.”

“He is too powerful! Our weapons won’t kill him unless…”

  “The humans know?”

  “Yes boss, but…”

“Then they understand the threat as well. Count on them to do the job too. I won’t expect to hear anything back soon. Ensure that HE is dead even if the humans kill him before you do… Take the messaging stone and two shamans. Brother… I’m counting on you,” Vul’Goth said placing a hand on Gorag’s shoulder pauldron.

Gorag looked down for a moment and then back at Vul’Goth with grim understanding. A soft smile crept across Gorag's face.

Vul’Goth Continued, “Take your time getting your party ready. I will fight King Albert’s forces by attacking again in a fortnight. Should free up the enemy forces in the north… Also, Ven’Goth should be in the East moving his army northward to help you get to where you’re needed. I’ll let him know of your coming through.”

Vul’Goth sighed tiredly. He looked at the ground for a moment contemplating all scenarios of what was to come. His mind raged on like a boiling pool of lava ready to burst out of a volcano. He wanted the pressure to stop, but knew that it never will because he was the War Chief and the user of Earth Breaker. His left eye glowed a slight red for a second only to go back to blue. The unnatural voice of Earth Breaker was growling in his mind like an angry dog.

He rose back up and said, “But you’ll need to cross part of the wastelands to reach him for resupply. May encounter some Elvan resistance due to how the Forest of the Kings cuts into the northern territories. Do what you must… For the horde!”

“For the horde,” Gorag said as he quickly walked out of the tent beating his chest plate.

Vul’Goth murmured to himself, “Be safe, brother. Be safe.”

He sat down and stared at Earth Breaker resting on his leather chair next to his bed. A sense of fury loomed over the mace. He looked to the floor knowing what it wanted.

“Alby… I hope the new wielder of the light is powerful enough. I may see you soon… I hope you’re still waiting. I hope the new champion is just as good as you were… I hope.”

The unnatural voice was calling him. Earth Breaker shined briefly. The voice said, "Continue. More blood. Feed."

Vul'Goth sighed knowing that the voice from Earth Breaker was never going to stop. He thought back on Albert and him when the departed from the desert. He thought about if he had the strength to tell Albert that he would not attack the humans ever again once he became War Chief. He wanted to tell Albert that he wanted his people and Albert's to be united and live in peace. He wanted to tell Albert how he was going to use Earth Breaker for good. Instead, Vul'Goth said nothing when he saw Albert walk away at the crossroads. He placed his large hands over his face and began to cry.

"Why did you have to die? I was the coward! I should've died not you!"
