The Cross Crusaders

“Yo!” smiled the bee-like-armored Tophbee. “Just heroes tryna do what’s right, guys!”

“Woo! Those evil Super Apes from Colossus Industries WERE HARD to kill, bluds!” smiled the green-spandexed Inchworm.

“Chris, Jed, c’mon guys. They likely had intelligence,” said Beatle, kind of embarrassed. He sighs, cringing upon looking at the bodies of those Apes they killed.

“Hello, Beatle Saint King! We would like to ask you if you really are the Saint King and interview you bout the Bible,” said a reporter, but Anna segues in.

“Hi,. I am Anna Anastasia. My card! Beatle has no time for your questions, but if you do want to speak with him, he will invite you for some tea and cookies at his family home in 64 Lopez Jaena Palace in Baguio City. He will provide you with services of psychological, physical, and mental healing and will CONSIDER allowing a livestream with you. Thank you, no further questions.”

They walked away as the paparazzi flickered lights all over them.

“Thank you,” said Miguel. “I was getting all stressed from that.“

  Anna giggled.

Aurora, who is behind the others, has her eye twitch.

That evening, Miguel switches the news off.

“This just in, the Neo Katipunan, a new revolutionary communist group, has formed against the Morningstar Industries’ so-called tyrannical rule-...” The TV was shut off as Miguel entered HDMI2.

Miguel smiles, happily talking to Anna about his passions at their home. “Yeah! And I just LOVE I think you would REALLY ENJOY Superman, dude!”

“I doubt that,” she smiled awkwardly, laughing nervously while twirling her hair.

He leans closer to her face. “Lez watch it ANYWAY!!!” he smiled./

“Um…” Anna remembers and sees flashes of the Goat, a being dancing in the pale moonlight to strike a deal in a 50s Diner… “Okay.”

After the film, Anna smiles and cheers for Superman, clapping out loud, while upstairs, Aurora just covers her ears with her pillow.

“Sh… My sweetie is tryna sleep,” smiled Miguel.

  Anna frowns. “Right. Her. Sorry.”

Miguel smiles and drinks some milk.

Anna sighs. “I like this better than Transformers One, in all honesty.”

“Same! Ruru doesn’t think so, though. Thought you hated Superhero movies,” he teased.

“Eh! Well! More like didn’t have time to watch ‘em.”

He accidentally presses the button on his iPod.

Hey Jude is played by the Beatles.

“This is Aurora’s favorite song…” he smiled, remembering one evening where they danced together and sang Hey Jude all night that evening of passion. “I first met her and we both loved that song… Sang it all night…”

“How about our song…” said Anna.

“What? We don’t have a song. You hated my songs…” smiled Miguel.

Anna smiles, reaching for his iPod and plays a song.

  “Yesterday” by the Beatles.

Miguel laughs awkwardly. “I forgot you cared that much.”

“You broke my heart, Miguel. You said… You said… I never cared about you. You invalidated how much I felt for you. I thought I felt you deserved to get hurt, but I hurt seeing you that way.”

  “I’m sorry…”

“I wanted to dance with you that night… in Prom… in our last year in College. Instead, I had sex with Tyrone. Lost my virginity then and there.”

Miguel offers his hand, and they dance. “Just this once. An apology from a friend.”

Together, they danced slowly, and slowly, and Anna kissed him, but Miguel pulled away, some spit left on his lip string on hers. He wipes it off, a bit flustered.

  “Dude… I can’t be with you. No…”

Miguel grabs the star pillow and walks into the kitchen. “Please leave.”

Anna sighs as Miguel walks into the kitchen, slamming the door.

She looks at the staircase and sees Aurora, angrily fuming, glaring down at her.
