Chapter 13:- Family Breakfast

  Chapter 13: Family Breakfast

  Back in London

  Morgue

Two men stood silently, observing the dead bodies of Saja gang members laid out before them. The corpses had been recovered from an old warehouse.

  > “This looks like an assassination, not a case of them killing each other,” one of the men said.

“What do you think, Elder? Do you believe it was done by one of us?”

The older man shook his head slowly.

  > “No. I don’t think so. We don’t have anyone as sophisticated as this.”

  > “Then what do you think?” the younger one pressed.

“Is there a rival group? Or some new organization at work here?

And more importantly… why would someone of this caliber take such a shitty job?”

  The Elder frowned.

  > “Language, young one.”

  > “My apologies, Elder.”

The old man remained silent for a moment, his eyes narrowing as realization dawned.

  > “Now I remember where I’ve seen this way of killing before.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

It’s been more than fifteen years… That person should not be alive.”

A worried expression spread across his face.

  > “Who are you talking about, Elder?”

  “Do I know him?”

  > “Yes,” the Elder replied gravely.

“We all know him. His name is preserved in our record books.

You know him as the man who brought the greatest shame upon our sacred organization.”

  The young man stiffened.

  > “That can’t be right, Elder.

  Aren’t you mistaken?

The records say he died fifteen years ago.”

  > “They do,” the Elder said slowly.

“But the kill was never confirmed. He was a man of immense caliber.

He and his people were our greatest adversaries.”

  He clenched his fists.

  > “I don’t know why he is back after so long… but if my guess is correct, we are in serious trouble.

He alone is enough to wipe us all out.”

  > “What?! How can that be true?” the young one exclaimed.

  The Elder sighed deeply.

  > “Oh, young one… you were not present during his reign.

  We were powerless against him.

That man is no human—he is unkillable.”

  He turned abruptly.

  > “We must go. Immediately.

Inform all Leaders and Branches of his arrival.”

As they rushed out of the morgue, fear was clearly visible on the old man’s face—even in the darkness.

By the time this conversation ended, the man they spoke of had already reached his destination.

He had just entered the city.

  ---

After entering Devhara and doing some sightseeing with his family—

  > “We can’t go directly to Charlie’s place,” D said.

“Your mom and I need to pick up another family member first.”

  > “Hey Dad, why can’t we go?” Val asked.

  > “Because if she sees me, she’ll kill me… or at least try to,” D replied calmly.

  > “Aren’t you two best friends or something?” Vince asked.

  > “Yes, we are,” D said.

  “But things didn’t end well.

Fifteen years ago, I left without saying goodbye. I mean, I left a video message, but that clearly wasn’t enough.”

  He shook his head.

  > “Anyway, let’s not dwell on the past. We need to move forward.

But before we split up, let’s grab something to eat.”

  > “Where are we going, honey?” Aleina asked.

  > “We’re going to meet an old friend,” D smiled.

“Love… do you remember the first place we ever went out together?”

  Aleina smiled softly.

  > “How could I forget?

  Billy’s Diner.”

  > “Yep. Let’s go.”

The diner was filled with memories—pleasant ones.

From the outside, it looked rundown, but it held immense importance, not only in their personal lives but also in their work… and much more.

  > “Narrator, why the fuck do you have to spoil every chapter?” D snapped.

  > “What?” the Narrator replied.

“I’m not spoiling anything. I’m just building hype for the readers.”

  > “Yeah, right,” D muttered.

  > “You don’t know anything about narration, man. Just shut up,” the Narrator taunted.

  > “What the fuck did you just say to me?” D growled.

  > “See you guys in the next chapter!” the Narrator yelled, running away.

? This entire exchange happens telepathically. Since D possesses the highest level of psychic powers, he accidentally picked up the Narrator’s voice—and they’ve been bickering ever since. ?
