Chapter 2: The burden we bare

After Phenton had vanished, the room became silent. Byron was lying on the floor, and Senzo slumped against the wall, both unconscious. Mustering the little strength Agami had left, he tried to pick himself up. As soon as he exerted pressure on his right arm, pain surged through it, causing him to fall back to the floor.

Tenmei reappears from Agami’s right arm and flies towards him, “Blast, it seems you pushed yourself too far! One moment.” Tenmei then becomes brighter and shines a light on Agami, making his body feel lighter. Trying to stand up again, the pain is still present, but it’s more tolerable.

“We do not have time to waste, we need to leave as we do not know who is on their way here!” Tenmei says with urgency, flying out of the room.

Before he can follow suit as he stumbles through the mess, he glances back at the two unconscious bodies, “Are-...Are they dead?” He asks, unable to maintain much focus.

“They will be fine, but I cannot promise we will be if we remain. Now let us go.” Tenmei responds.

Agami rushes out as best he can and looks around, finding the street to still be silent as when he arrived. Following Tenmei, his mind keeps returning to Phenton's screams. Taking a turn into an alley, he continues limping through, but with each step he takes, different parts of the fight flash through his mind. Unable to handle it anymore, he stops.

Tenmei looks back and sees the injured man standing, not in a hurry as he is. Worriedly, he asks, “Agami, what are you doing? We need to get out of here, now!”

“No.” Answers Agami, struggling to maintain his composure, both physically and emotionally. “I can’t follow you if you don’t tell me what’s going on!” He pauses again, struggling to contain his frustration, “I just woke up from the dead because you saved me. I owe you that, but did we really need to kill that man? He was doing something horrible, but I don’t think death was necessary. I-...I can’t follow you if it means more senseless killings…” After he speaks, Tenmei remains silent, acknowledging the poor man's feelings towards the matter.

Figuring out how to explain the issue to him while moving away wasn’t going to work. As long as he remained in the dark, they would remain at an impasse. After a few moments, Tenmei finally speaks, “Phenton, the spirit we encountered earlier…was meant to be dead decades ago. But because of a mistake I made and a friend's passing…” He pauses as he briefly remembers his life before continuing, “...he was able to escape death, and now it is the responsibility of my descendants to take care of it.”

  “Descendants?” Agami asks confusedly.

“Yes, but may we please hold off on this conversation for now? I will tell you more later, but we need to distance ourselves from that house.” Tenmei asks, trying to be gentle, albeit barely containing his urgency.

Having to put his issues aside for now, Agami nods and follows Tenmei. As they rush through the streets, they try their best to stick to the alleys and shadows. If they were to be stopped now, it would be difficult to explain the blood to anyone. They eventually come across an abandoned house with no sign of life inside. Having no other option, they enter and carefully make their way to the second floor.

“Alright, this will make a good enough spot to rest for the night.” Tenmei says, trying to be positive about the situation.

Again remains silent and just stares at the ground. Still thinking about the events that transpired. Tenmei slowly floats towards him. He observes the man's face and sees that he is struggling to understand what has happened. After a brief pause, Tenmei begins speaking, “During my youth, I used to have a friend named Agami. He was a little strange when we first met, speaking to nothing and always being dragged off by the clergymen for some work. We used to play and have fights, but often laughed. It was even through him that I met my late wife, Popura. When I lost my father, it was then that I learnt about his ability to control souls, regardless of whether they were alive or dead. It was his duty to send them off to the next world and make sure they did not linger. With this responsibility, he also needed to make sure that the spirit's energy was dispersed back to the universe. At the time of learning, we had a falling out, and I blamed him for not saving my father, misunderstanding his responsibilities. Eventually, I apologised and we returned to normal. Unfortunately, it doesn't end there.” He pauses, steeling himself for the rest of his tale.

Agami stares at the flame, listening intently, then asks, “Is he responsible for why you're here?”

“In a sense, he was.” Pausing for a moment to reflect, he continues, “Eventually, a group of people learnt of his ability and kidnapped him. Phenton was amongst the conspirators. They learnt of a ritual from a malicious man named Aster Delmin, which would allow one's soul to remain after death, and instead of releasing power, they may control the flow of it. Learning of this, I hastily made my way to the site of the ritual, immediately killing them without much of a second thought, but only after the bloodshed, I realised that I had completed the ritual for them. As the last step was to die, and each of their deaths took a part of Agami with them.”

“You… murdered them?” Agami asks in shock.

“I did, yes.” Tenmei responds somberly, “I was young and rash, sometimes letting my anger get the best of me. But once I came down, I felt a little anger towards myself for getting lost in it. After coming to terms with what I had done, I could not find them after, but heard they had travelled all over the world, gaining influence and power, whilst I was powerless to stop them. That is, until I learnt of the technique of ‘Vanquishing’.”

“Vanquishing?” Repeats Agami, his interest piqued by the name.

“Yes. My brother explained that only our family is capable of such a feat, and to do so, we need to take all the power we have and pass it onto my inheritors. I nominated myself, and trained for decades for it, gaining experience and power in many ways. Upon my grandchildren's birth, I passed my power unto them, each in the shape of a different armament. You possess the right armament, one of the strongest, as it contains my soul.”

“Wait, if you passed it onto your grandchildren, does that mean you're my grandfather?” Agami asks, rising from his exhausted state.

“All of the evidence points to it.” Tenmei responds, “And given that you are named after Agami, it is safe to say you are Imino and Sora's child.”

Agami's troubles are immediately blown away at the realisation that he had a family out there. “Wait, Imino and Sora? Are Johnathan and Cecilia not my real parents?” He thinks to himself, slowly smiling. With the possibility of him meeting his actual parents, he struggles to hold in his excitement. “Do you know where they are or if they are still alive?” He quickly asks, interrupting Tenmei's story.

“Unfortunately, I neither know their whereabouts nor if they are still alive. I am sorry.” He replies, knowing that this may discourage him. Hearing this, Agami leans back and lets out a sigh.

After a brief pause, Tenmei resumes his story, “To continue where I left off, I passed on each of my abilities to my grandchildren, except for two. I gave your mother the left armament whilst the legs were handed off to a family friend.”

After a few moments, Agami asks, “When I was being resurrected, you mentioned something about the inheritance and it worsening. You didn’t finish back there.”

“Oh, yes, I had nearly forgotten about that. The inheritance is the relationship between the living and those who were in collaboration with Aster. The more they share their power with their followers or associates, the easier it is for their souls to remain here. Eventually, they will have enough power to have full control over the world, controlling humanity as they see fit and taking power out of those still living. To prevent it, we need to vanquish all of them before their power grows further.” Tenmei responds, the somber tone in his voice transforming into one of determination.

“So, your goal is to wipe them out?” Agami asks blankly.

“No, we are merely sending them back to where they were meant to go. Fortunately, you came across Phenton first. He was one of the weakest among them. It seems he was weakened due to a recent falling out, so I knew that was the best chance we had, hence why I pushed you.” Tenmei pauses, letting Agami truly absorb his words.

“How many more of them are there, and how much time do we have left?” Agami responds, feeling a slight pressure fall upon his shoulders.

“Seven. There are seven conspirators out there. Well, six with Phenton out of the picture. There is, unfortunately, no clear timeframe, but I know that the sooner we take each one out, the better our chances are of preventing it from fully enveloping the world.”

Agami remains silent, his mind stirring with all the information that has been shared with him. After thinking, he says, “So should we find the others on our own or try to find my family first?”

“Neither. You need to get stronger before you can think of journeying further. If you struggled against a weakened Phenton, there is no telling how strong the others would be. Remember, the only reason we could defeat him was because he lacked followers and had the least combat experience out of the seven.”

“But how do we get stronger?”

“For starters, we are going to need to fully awaken your arm.” Tenmei says as he floats closer to his arm. “I am not sure what happened, but from birth, the arm should have been in an active state.”

“Wait. Now that you mention it, why are you only appearing before me now?” Agami intersects, realising a critical piece of information was missing.

“I am afraid I do not know either, but as we go along, the answers shall appear.” Tenmei replies, a sound of uncertainty in his voice. “To activate this hand, I'm going to need to take some of Phenton's power to jump-start it.”

There is an unexpected moment of silence, Agami watches Tenmei expectedly whilst Tenmei floats there silently. His patience running out, Agami breaks the silence, “Are-... are you activating it?”

“Not yet.” Tenmei responds, “With the current state of your body and mind, as well as the uncertainty of the procedure, there are too many variables for me that I feel it is too risky right now to activate it.”

“I see…” He responds, looking up at the night sky through the crack in the ceiling, “I wonder what they are like.” He says to himself.

Hours later, a ray of sunshine sneaks into the house and shines on the Agami’s sleeping face. He grunts, only wanting a few more hours of sleep.

“Okay, we have rested long enough. Let us go.” Tenmei says in an attempt to wake him up. Unfortunately, Agami remains asleep, just turning his head away, “You can not be serious.” The flame whispers to itself, “I am warning you. If you do not wake up, I will drag you across the town.”

He still slumbers, slightly adjusting his so that the beam of light is no longer on him.

“Have it your way.” The flame says before entering Agami’s arm. His arm begins moving until Agami slumps and falls to the floor, finally breaking his slumber.

“Whu-...What’s happening?” He asks confusedly, rubbing his eyes and subsequently the drool around his mouth.

“Good, you are up.” The spirit says, sounding slightly proud of itself, “Come, we need to find a place far from Phanasma where I can transfer Phentons' power to your arm without attracting attention.”

Still waking up and slowly walking down the dilapidated stairs, “Why can’t we do it here?” he says, yawning and stretching as he finishes the sentence.

“Phenton and his men's words have been bothering me since our encounter. He mentioned a boisterous clown and a cult reducing their numbers. If I am not mistaken, that man sounds scarily close to Baltro Vick.” Tenmei answers with a hint of worry in his voice.

  “Baltro Vick?”

“Yes. Another one of the conspirators. When I was alive, I remember how he was always trying to get people to follow him. Gaining suspiciously loyal followers, although the group he had at the time was quite small.” Tenmei replies.

“Is he the one behind the cult?”

“Most likely. Knowing him, he is gathering devotees and is planning to be revered as a god. I fear how strong he has gotten over the past decades.”

“You think he is that far gone?” Agami asks, his curiosity about the man growing.

“Indeed. When I attempted to rescue Agami, I had to wipe out his followers. Even if I had spared him, I worried for my family as his followers were extreme and obsessed with his so-called ‘ascension’.” He continues with a slight, begrudging tone.

“Okay, I see why you think it is him, but why do we still need to do the awakening out of town?”

“Whenever the right armament exudes a large amount of power, it sends a unique energy signal easily sensed by spirits and those looking for energy signatures. If we did it here, it would be the same as letting our enemies know where we are. And to add on, if Baltro shared his power with his followers, and they are nearby, he can use them as a portal and find us instantly.”

After listening to the flame, Agami suddenly understands why Tenmei was impatient and urging them to get as far as possible. It wasn’t for selfish reasons but rather for their safety. “Guess he wasn't a bad guy after all,” he thinks to himself.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

“Whuh-... you were still suspicious of me?” Tenmei responds in surprise, Agami forgetting that they can communicate telepathically.

“Ah, shoot. Forgot you could hear me. My bad, but it's better to be safe than sorry.” He nervously chuckles.

The two travel for what feels like hours, entering deep into the forest outside of the city. Upon reaching an empty field, they finally stopped.

“Okay, this should be far enough.” Tenmei says.

Agami looks back towards the path they came from. “We went pretty far. Are you sure this much distance was necessary?” He says worriedly as he walks towards Tenmei.

“I do. We cannot be too safe, especially with what is at stake. Okay, this should be a good spot for the ritual.” He then flies around quickly, checking the surroundings for any potential pursuers before continuing, “Back to the ritual. To activate the arm, I'll need you to shout ‘Transformation, hooooo’ at the top of your voice and strike a pose.”

Suddenly caught off-guard, he asks, “Are-are you serious?”

“Deadly.” Tenmei responds, without a hint of levity in his voice. “Why is there something stopping you from performing the ritual?”

“No, no, there isn't, it's just that it seems…you know…a little embarrassing?” He nervously says, blushing slightly.

“Agami. The world is at stake, and many will suffer if we do not perform this ritual. Answer me, what is more important, your pride or the world?”

“Stupid world.” He curses under his breath as he takes a step back. He took a deep breath and quickly checked that no one besides him and Tenmei were present. Verifying they were alone, he then shouts “TRANSFORM!” and does a set of gestures, embarrassing enough to make any grown man laugh. After the poses, he then gives the final shout, completing the ritual. Breathing and sweating, he is somehow filled with a weird sense of pride.

After a brief pause, nothing happens. “Ummm, Tenmei. Should something happen, or did I not do it correctly?” He says worriedly.

The flame floats towards him, laughing, “My apologies, I could not resist.” He pauses again to continue laughing, “I just saw you were tense and thought this may help. I was going to stop you sooner, but at one point, you looked like you were getting into it. ”

“Are you kidding me! That was humiliating.” The embarrassed man shouted. After a couple of moments, he collected himself and spoke again, “I'd be more angry at you, but fortunately, I struck some good poses.”

After Tenmei calms down and apologises for misleading him, he says, “Okay, now that we've had our fun, let me activate it for real this time.”

The air surrounding them suddenly becomes still. Tenmei's flames slowly calm down, leaving only a floating sphere in the air. Agami's hand begins trembling, and a sudden surge of pain passes through his arm as a blue light begins emitting from it. Screaming, he cannot stand any longer and falls to his knees. As the pain flows through his arms, he watches the scales from his right hand begin stretching across his arm, only stopping at his shoulder. After the growth, the pain subsides.

Regaining his composure, he stands again and studies his arm, noting it feels slightly heavier and more rigid. As he looks at it, Tenmei's flames return, and he says, “We are finally done.” Floating curiously toward Agami, he asks, “How is it?”

“It's okay, a little hard to move, but nothing I can’t handle.”

Tenmei then quickly flies around the arm, as if looking for something, “Strange, I thought there would be boosters. A moment.” After speaking, he immediately enters Agami's arm. After a moment, a vent-like protrusion opened from his forearm.

“What the-” Agami exclaims in surprise.

“Do not fear, that is a booster. If you exert energy through it, energy will stream through it, giving you propulsion. Observe.” Before Agami could understand what Tenmei explained, a sudden burst of energy shot through the vent, violently pushing his arm in the direction opposite the vent.

“PLEASE STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING!” Agami shouts as he struggles to fight against the pull of his arm. After a moment, the energy streaming from his arm begins decreasing, becoming smaller until it fully disappears. “Thank you.” He says, relieved, catching his breath.

Tenmei reappears from his arm, saying, “Okay, it should do for now. Unfortunately, it is going to take you some time to use your arm to its full potential. So while you are still learning, I think it is best if I take control of your arm until then.”

“Makes sense, but before we go back.” He lifts his arm to get a better look at it, focusing on the area where the vent was. “Do you think you could maybe teach me how to use my arm or how to at least do that thing you did just now?”

“Well, of course. We did not venture this far just to merely activate your arm. We are here to practice as well.”

  “Practice?” He repeats confusedly.

“Yes. I thought about your fight from earlier, and while you do have some decent brawling ability, you lack battle sense, and learning more about your arm will give you an edge in battle.”

Tenmei pauses before floating back slightly. “With the activation of your arm, I have awakened one of its latent abilities. That burst of energy you saw earlier is meant to help you deliver more powerful punches, but it forces you to use a tremendous amount of energy just to maintain the flow. While this may give you power, it makes it easier to miss your target. Furthermore, if you use too much energy, you will run out and be extremely fragile, so please do not be reckless.”

Upon hearing that, Agami feels a slight pressure and nods, unsure of what to say.

“Good, it seems you are following. So first things first, to open the vent, just practise flexing your wrist, and eventually you should be able to open the vent on your own. Then the next step is to focus your energy on the vents. For now, you will just burn through it, but instead, you should try focusing on letting it shoot lightly and maintaining it. And you should get better from there. Got it?” He pauses again and waits for Agami to nod. After receiving confirmation he was following, and continues, “Good, then let’s begin with training. Using those steps, let us practise activating the stream for now.”

The pair begins training, with Tenmei overseeing Agami’s progression. For the first hour, Agami struggles to open and keep the vent on his arm open, as his arm reflexively stops flexing when he loses focus, inevitably closing the vent and diminishing his progress. Upon eventually reaching a level where he could hold it steady, he began practising focusing his energy. Heeding Tenmei’s words, he focuses, but upon immediately gathering the energy, a big stream bursts through the vent, throwing him off his feet. Fortunately, the stream disappears shortly after, but at the cost of exhausting what little energy Agami had.

“Ah, it seems I forgot that you never really used your soul power.” Tenmei nervously chuckles.

“Soul…” Agami pauses, gasping for air before continuing, “...Power?”

“Yes. To use my armaments, you will need to exhaust the soul energy that the armament produces naturally. In a nutshell, soul power is energy that is taken from a being's existence, and instead of releasing it back to the universe, the armaments take and convert it to soul power.” Tenmei chuckles after explaining it, saying, “I even came up with the name soul power. Original is it not?”

“So… it’s eating away at me?” Agami responds, slightly recovering his stamina.

“No, it is merely taking the energy you would have released through living and converting it into soul power.”

“But wait, why does my using all my soul…energy wipe me out?” He asks as he stands slowly.

“When you run out, the armament will try to take the energy you are currently using and will forcefully convert it, regardless of whether it is in use or not. Unfortunately, your body is not ready for constant generation and use, so for now, you will have to rely on storing it.” He responds.

Suddenly, the trees in the forest violently shake. Seeing this, Agami takes a defensive stance in the direction of the sound, ready to take action. Tenmei moves towards it and freezes, saying, “Strange, I can sense some life force from the forest, but their drastically decreasing. Wait. I-…I can sense life surrounding us.”

“What! Are we surrounded by the enemy?” Agami says in shock, frantically looking around, prepared for a fight.

“Blast. They crept up slowly so I would not notice them. Agami, the failure to notice them is mine. Please prepare to fight, I will aid as best I can.” Tenmei shouts before flying towards his arm. But before he re-enters the arm, he freezes. “Wait a minute.”

“What, what, what?” Agami frantically asks, barely containing his panic.

A loud crack is heard from the forest, and the trees stop shaking.

“I do not sense any other life around us. It is faint now.” Tenmei coolly responds.

“You mean, they left us alone?” Agami’s posture slightly lightens as he speaks.

“No. I did not sense it moving away… A moment.” Tenmei then flies and disappears into the forest, but quickly flies back, shouting, “WE NEED TO RUN NOW!”

Preparing to dash without hesitation, he then hears a gun click and a gruff voice saying, “No need to run, I have this entire area trapped.”

A man then emerges from the forest, wearing an orange and red cloak that envelops most of his body. He has a silver beard and unkempt hair, donning an old and battered cowboy hat. His eyes are cold and show no emotion; with every step, the sound of holstered guns becomes apparent. This man is a seasoned killer. Upon closer inspection, Agami realises that his cloak is covered in blood and takes a slight step back.

“I-...I can’t win this?” he nervously thinks to himself, doing what little he can to prepare himself.

“Agami, do not tense up. With my help, we should be able to handle him.” Tenmei says before disappearing into the armament.

He takes out a cigarette and lights it, before continuing, “Give me your best, or else you won’t live long.” He says, pulling on his cigarette.

For an unknown reason, although the man’s eyes were not on him, Agami felt as if he was being watched closely by him. The wind grows silent as the two maintain their distance from one another. Agami, unable to attack, only seeing death if he thought about attacking

“Agami, do not underestimate this man. In the forest, he killed a large group of people. I am unsu-”

“I’m out of patience.” The man says, suddenly disappearing after a sonic crack sound.

Agami is thrown towards the trees, and before he could crash, he suddenly feels a kick from his right side, violently changing his direction. Agami crashed into the floor, leaving a trail of dirt behind him.

“At least you can take a beating. I was afraid I’d have gone a bit too strong. But enough dallying, get serious.” He says, taking another pull from his cigarette as he walks towards Agami.

Struggling to make sense of what is happening, Agami tries to stand but is severely injured.

“AGAMI, GET UP! HE IS GETTING CLOSER! WE NEED TO USE THE ARMAMENT NOW!” Tenmei shouts, frantically trying to salvage the situation.

As the man approaches, he pulls out a revolver.

Agami focuses on his arm, trying to remember what he practised moments ago. “Damn it. I don’t have enough energy.” He thinks to himself.

“Agami. Wait for my signal. When he is within range, I will activate the thrust and aim it. I need you to grab him and make sure he does not disappear.” Tenmei says, hiding the slight panic in his voice.

“Okay.” He thinks, barely able to maintain his focus.

The man then reaches them and points his revolver towards Agami’s temple.

“NOW!” Tenmei yells, unleashing a glorious burst of energy from the vent.

Agami grabs the man by his right arm, using all his energy not to let go. But before the punch could reach the stranger, the man pulled the trigger.

  The gun clicked.

The stream suddenly stopped, and Agami suddenly let go, falling over from sudden exhaustion. Before landing, the man catches him and says, “Dammit, this kid is far from ready.” He sighs and gently places him on the floor. “Looks like he pushed himself too far.” He then looks at his right hand and looks closer at Agami’s face. “Yep, looks like he got Imino’s eyes and the scumbags hair. Hmmm, and that attitude, too.”

After a couple of hours, Agami’s eyes open. He looks around and finds that he is no longer in the forest, but is in a hotel room, resting on a bed.

“Tenmei?” He says, standing up from the bed and looking for him. He grabs his coat, which is hanging on the chair. As he puts it on, he looks around the room. He sees a large window overlooking the city, and in the distance, he can see the tip of the Sand De Royale hotel. “Still in Phanasma.” He thinks to himself. Moving toward the windows and looking down onto the street, he finds that the room he is currently in is high above ground level. “Not getting down from here alive.” He whispers to himself, entertaining the idea of plummeting down.

Remembering what happened earlier, he thinks, “Need to defend myself.” He looks at his hand. Considering that Tenmei is not around and he still doesn't have control over his arm, he will need something to make himself more formidable. He searches around the room for any weapon he can use to defend himself, but finds nothing. In a desperate attempt, he grabs a lamp and slowly approaches the door, putting his ear up to it and listening. He hears chatter and laughter. Focusing more, he can hear two kids arguing and a couple of adults talking. The man who took them downs voice could also be heard.

“Shoot.” He says to himself, flashing back to their last encounter. A head-on encounter will only be a waste. “Looks like the window is my only choice.” He drops the lamp and quickly rushes to the window. Looking down, an idea suddenly springs forth in his mind. He checks the condition of his body and sees that it's fully rested, albeit slightly hungry and thirsty. He opens the window and climbs atop its window sill. “Okay. Just need to get the timing right.” He anxiously says to himself, trying to put off his nerves. He quickly flexes the vents on his arms and slightly focuses his energy, trying not to waste it. “Tenmei, wherever you are, I could really use some help right now.” He thinks to himself, hoping Tenmei suddenly reappears to save him.

Pushing past his fears, he leaps off the windowsill, trying to maintain an upright position and aim the vent downwards. As he falls, he feels the wind violently rush past him and is deafened by it, his focus solely on the ground as it approaches. He dared not think about failure.

“NOW!” He shouts to himself, letting out a powerful burst that manages to bring his descent to a stop, before disappearing again. Although he was successful at preventing certain doom, he unfortunately misjudged the timing, still leaving a notable fall that very few can get away from unscathed. With an ungraceful crash, he hits the floor on his side, grunting, “Aghhh.“ Holding his left arm. He quickly looks up and sees a grown man with groceries standing over him. “Take a picture, it will last…” He is interrupted by a surge of pain in his left arm before continuing, “-Agh, longer.”

The man lets out a deep sigh and looks at one of the hotel staff who was worriedly looking on, “Hey, hold this for me, would ya?” The man said, handing his groceries to them. He kneels down and quickly looks at Agami’s arm. “Yep, dislocated. This is gonna suck but it’ll be over quick.”

  “What?” Agami responds confusedly.

The man then held two fingers out and said, “Watch the bunny.” Before Agami could understand what he meant, he suddenly heard a pop followed by a tremendous amount of pain surging from his left arm.

  “AGHHHHHH- YOU-”

“Insanely awesome and skilled father, that is correct.” The man interrupts, smiling and congratulating himself. He stands and walks to the bewildered hotel staffman, who is still watching in confusion, to retrieve the groceries he had handed him.

“Father?” Agami responded, the pain being suddenly put off by the man’s words. Upon trying to remember the names Tenmei gave him earlier, Tenmei himself suddenly appears.

“There you are! I was worried-...” The flame then pauses and looks up, “Did you-...Did you jump from the room window?” Worry in his voice.

“Yeaaaah…sorry about that, had to make some decisions.” Agami chuckles nervously.

After a brief pause, Tenmei takes a deep breath, trying not to let his anger over a dangerous risk overtake him. “I am just glad you survived, although be careful next time!”

Returning, he gives Agami’s leg a light kick, saying, “Come on, Imino is probably freaking out that her son just woke up and his first thought was to jump out a window.” Standing up confusedly, the man hands him a bag to carry and begins walking off.

Agami looks towards Tenmei, both worried and confused. “Follow him, it will be fine.” his grandfather said calmly, putting his grandson's worries to rest for the time being.
