Chapter 21 Alakazam
From somewhere across the room there came the steady rhythm of a heartbeat that wasn’t my own. A loud Growl broke the silence, followed by a slow scraping as something was dragged against the cold, hard steel floor.
A loud thud echoed off the walls as something slammed into the ground.
A voice came from the intercom system. “Begin.”
My eyes snapped open. Through the thin slit of my helmet, I could see the faint outline of a Nidoking standing across from me.
He threw his head back and roared.
A shiver ran down my spine as my pulse quickened.
He lowered his head and in three thunderous steps Nidoking had closed the distance.
Psychic energy rippled around my hand as I coaxed my power to come forward.
With a wave of my hand, I wrapped him in a cocoon of energy and pushed back.
Nidoking’s momentum slowed but didn’t stop. “He’s strong, I need more…”
Raising my other hand, adding even more energy.
Nidoking tumbled backwards as the pressure more than doubled, almost instantly he sprang back to his feet.
Steadying myself I brought my hands together forming a sphere of energy between them.
Nidoking spun, his tail whipped around. From point blank I unleashed a Psybeam into its tail, causing Nidoking to spin counterclockwise.
He used that kinetic energy to aim his horn directly for my chest. I pictured myself behind him and willed my energy into a hastily formed teleport.
In a flash of light, I was standing behind Nidoking. Instantly I channeled energy to my palm creating a small sphere. In a fit of rage Nidoking slammed its feet into the ground.
Suddenly everything began to shake, knocking me off balance and breaking my concentration. The Sphere of energy fizzled away into nothingness.
Blinding pain came from below. Falling to the floor I closed my eyes.
“Pain has no place on this battlefield.” Quickly I began to block the pain receptors by covering them in a thin layer of energy, I glanced down at my leg.
Stones had torn through the steel directly under me.
My right leg was bent at an angle it was never designed to be at. Most concerning of all was the chunk of bone that was sticking out of my shin.
Wrapping myself in energy I floated up off the ground. Looking up, Nidoking was already charging me again. Gathering my energy, I launched another Psybeam at him.
The blast of energy slammed into Nidoking’s chest sending him flying across the room and crashing into the viewing window that was recessed into the wall.
Instantly, a whisper of something vaguely familiar touched the edge of my consciousness.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Slowly Nidoking rose to his feet. Smoke rose from a small crater in his chest plate.
My gaze was drawn to the window, squinting I could just make out a hairline crack in the mirrored glass.
Nidoking slammed his foot into the ground, pulling my attention back to the battle.
A boulder the size of a car ripped through the floor and hovered in front of him for a single heartbeat before launching directly at me.
Quickly I brought energy to both of my hands, violet energy swirled around me like a poorly contained vortex.
I pressed both hands forward, my arms shaking as a wall of psychic energy rippled forward.
Tink
Glancing down, a purple glow radiated from small cracks that had appeared in the armor around my forearms.
The boulder crumbled to dust as the wave of energy hit it. The blast continued on, smashing into Nidoking, slamming him into the viewing window that sent cracks radiating outward in every direction.

Kolt covered his face as the six-inch-thick reinforced glass cracked under the pressure.
From the control station in front of him alarms began to wail.
“Containment breached!”
“I can damn well see that, screw the room. How much energy was that?” Astrid coldly commanded.
“Energy output measured at peak of 19.2 megajoules, however the armor systems are reporting failures from both arms.”
Astrid let out a whistle. “See what the last few months of constant training have yielded.”
A smile flashed across Kolt’s face. He looked out at the testing chamber, Alakazam was staring straight at him. “Can he see us?
“No, it’s a two-way mirror.” One of the technicians replied.
“Ma’am his brainwaves just spiked.”
Then Alakazam let out a scream and fell forward.
His Alakazam lay on the floor, behind him stood a Weavile, blood dripping from its claw.
Astrid turned to Kolt. “I never said this was one on one.”

I lowered my arms as Nidoking slid to the floor. Suddenly a sense of familiarity hit me.
“What is this feeling….”
I looked towards the viewing window. Something was different.
I closed my eyes and focused on the cracks in the glass. I could feel something…
My eyes shot open.
“KOLT!”
Without warning, a searing pain tore through me as something ripped through the flesh on my back.
Turning as I hit the ground unleashing a psychic blast at the figure behind me.
The blast passed harmlessly through it. I grit my teeth and pushed up off the ground.
“Damn Dark types, that explains why I never sensed it coming.”
The Weavile before me laughed as it raised one claw to its face and licked the blood from it.
Energy coursed through me as a green light encased my body. The gash across my back itching like crazy as it rapidly closed. With a sigh of relief, I levitated myself back up, glancing down at my still broken leg. “Recover can’t do anything to that until I set the bone.”
Weavile lunged as a dark black energy wrapped around its claws.
Raising one hand I created a Reflect directly in front of me.
Weavile crashed into the Reflect, its claws sending a shower of sparks across the room.
“If I can’t use my energy to harm him directly…”
Wrapping energy around the rocks from Nidoking’s earlier attacks. I launched them at Weavile.
He jumped to the right. “The little bastard is quick on his feet.”
I shot another volley of rocks. Weavile dipped under the first rock, and jumped to the right narrowly avoiding the second.
“Almost there…”
Weavile charged, the air around him turned murky. Rippling like water, but blacker than the night sky itself.
With a clap Weavile brought his paws together. The dark aura surrounding him rocketed towards me.
With a surge of energy, I teleported across the room appearing off to Weavile’s right. My back brushing up against the large rocks from Nidoking’s earlier Earthquake.
Weavile turned and charged.
A purple glow encased both of my arms as I brought them to my sides.
Wrapping energy around the steel plates on the floor, with a strain of effort I yanked two sections free on either side of Weavile.
Bending the steel upwards, they pinned Weavile between them.
I pulled one hand back, maintaining control and keeping Weavile in place with the other.
Screams filled the chamber as Weavile clawed at the steel franticly trying to get free.
With my now free hand I poured energy into the rocks behind me, ripping a massive chunk free. Tendrils of purple energy enveloped my left arm as I sent it flying towards Weavile.
Weavile squirmed, the steel digging into its sides. Blood ran down its side as it screamed trying to free itself.
The stone hit like a cannon flattening Weavile beneath it.
As silence spread through the room, I looked down at the floor, slowly a puddle of blood ran out from beneath the stone.
I turned and made my way towards the window.
Hovering in front of it I placed one hand on the window.
“Hello, old friend.”
