Through The Sand
After the dust settled, the red-hooded girl and I remained alone in the pit. Did she take down the other two?
She must be quieter than both of them.
Fattaralla and Quen-alla created the storm of sand once again. It blocked the view.
My ears perked slightly. Was she moving?
It was far too quiet to tell clearly. She was light on her feet, unlike the other members.
I tensed up, lowering myself slightly to watch out for her incoming attack.
She moved quietly — like Ma. I took a step closer, watching for the slightest movement.
There.
I spotted her amidst the haze, inching closer.
It seemed like she also noticed me. Did she also have sharp sight like Ma?
I took a step closer, and she inched closer to me from the other side. She could see me. I could tell.
As soon as we were both in each other’s line of sight, I lunged forward — only to be kicked in the stomach by her.
Thud.
I fell down, feeling my back hit the ground hard.
Ow—
The air left my lungs.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
She was quick on her feet, but I didn’t give up either. I stood up quickly and grabbed her raised right hand. Her fingers were still clenched around the sand. I forced her arm upward.
She grabbed my wrist with her free hand. I tried to pry her fingers loose but to no avail. She twisted her arm out of my grip and almost broke free. In return, I tightened my hold.
Her eyes narrowed and her head tilted slightly. I felt my strength slipping away.
She was strong.
Far stronger than anyone I had known and met.
Slowly but surely, she freed her wrist from my grip. My sharp claws brushed against the fabric of her suit, yet they didn’t cut through it. Was it also made of tettara?
What was I thinking? Why would her clothes be made of tettara?
I pushed her away. Her feet slid against the sand. I reached down, grabbing a handful of sand as I had her off balance for now.
I was more than sure I was going to win.
I glanced towards Agile. My pupils dilated with her close proximity. She stood right in front of me.
Her hand lightly brushed against my forehead, marking me.
How?
How was she this quick?
There was some credibility to these Guardians of the Unirex.
Her brown eyes pierced me through the mask.
