Chapter 9: A Humiliation
"Ji Yang Ge." The girl walked towards Wen Ji Yang under everyone's gaze, "Mom said you would come, didn't expect you really arrived."
Wen Jinyang's face was filled with doting affection as he pinched her nose: "You didn't say you'd be coming today."
The mayor's wife, Ding Yu, walked over with a smile: "Originally the foundation had something to do, but she insisted on coming to join in the fun, so I brought her along."
"Jinyang ge, does this skirt look good on me......" Qinger pulled at her own hem and asked him with a tilted head.
"You look great." Wen Jinyang was never stingy with his praise, "Just now I saw you and thought, is this an angel who got lost and descended to this place?"
Qing listened to this and was even more delighted. From time to time, someone came in to greet them, and Qing continued to hold his hand, accompanying her as she chatted with people from all walks of life in the business world.
Ding Yu let go of his daughter's hand, the male waiter at the wine party brought over a cocktail, she took one and suddenly her eyes flashed, seeing a figure.
She looked at her daughter and Wen Jiyang again, seemingly unaware of her. She then walked towards that secluded corner.
Mu Wan saw Ding Yu and seemed to see herself, she quickly turned around and walked towards the corridor leading to the bathroom. Her footsteps were disordered as she directly headed to the bathroom.
“Mù Wǎn……” As soon as she entered the restroom, Ding Yu followed closely behind her, calling out her name. However, she didn't let her guard down and instead glared at him coldly while checking if there was anyone else in the restroom. Fortunately, since the banquet was about to start, no one was using the restroom.
Mu Wan turned her back to her, took a deep breath, and clenched her fists.
"When are you coming back?" Ting Yu stared at her and said after making sure no one was in the bathroom.
Mu Wan still had her back to her, not making a sound.
Ding Yu's tone softened as he placed his hand on her shoulder: "You're willing to listen to me and come back, Mom is really delighted."
Mu Wan coldly smiled and turned her head to look at her: "Madam Qin, your daughter is outside."
Ding Yu's expression was slightly stiff, but he said: "You and Qingqing haven't met yet, let's arrange a time to meet up and everyone can see each other. Your Uncle Qin also wants to meet you."
"It's unnecessary," Mu Wan said coldly, "Mayor Qin is a busy and important person, how would he have time to see someone as insignificant as me."
Ding Yu also got used to her sharp tone and changed the subject: "How did you end up here?"
Mu Wan finally came back to her senses. She was Wen Jinyang's partner, but now she was here. "I followed the boss together?"
"Boss? Which boss?" The people who came to the opening party were all extraordinary, which shows that Mu Wan's work is not bad. Her job in the UK was very good, it was her insistence that made her daughter return home.
"Is this important?" Mu Wan's mind flashed with the intimate appearance of Qing Jing and Wen Jiyang, "I have to go back."
"Wanwan, where are you living now?" Ding Yu held his daughter's hand, "Why didn't you call me?"
"Madam Qin, didn't you also not call me?" Mu Wan asked with a smile. "You'd better leave! If someone finds out that you're here talking to me for so long, it might be beneath your dignity."
Ding Yu's face turned pale as she listened to Mu Wan's words, and she knew her daughter was blaming her. She said, "Then I'll go first, I'll wait for your call."
Mu Wan didn't respond, nor did she look at her, until the sound of the door closing was heard. Only then did she take a deep breath and stand in front of the washbasin, looking at herself in the mirror. She took off her glasses, washed her face with cold water, and the more she tried to clear her mind, the more scenes of her mother and Mu Qing appearing together floated into her brain.
That scene stimulated her, the sweet smile was right in front of her eyes, and she gave herself a slap in the face, reminding herself that she had long been abandoned as a useless person.
