Chapter 38: I Am the King of Goblins!

  “Everybody back off!”

Gob Bene suddenly let out a roar.

All the goblins immediately scattered and retreated.

Graceful figures lurked in the distant tree branches, drawing their longbows in the shadows.

  Bowstrings hummed with tension.

  Arrows whistled through the air.

A storm of arrows rained down on the Goblin Slayer.

But each one clanged harmlessly off her thick iron armor.

Tian stared in disbelief from afar. “No wonder she wears armor that heavy. It probably shrugs off ranged attacks—even magic, right?”

The arrows had no effect. The elves stopped shooting.

Firing more would just be a waste, and in the chaos, they might accidentally hit their own goblins.

  “Come on. Entertain me.”

The Goblin Slayer sneered, staring straight at Gob Bene.

She clearly didn’t take the Variant seriously.

Seeing this, those barely clinging to life suddenly felt a spark of hope.

Grul immediately begged, “Ma’am! Please get me down—I’m dying! I have high-grade recovery potions!”

A high-grade potion might still save him, but if he stayed impaled any longer, not even a god could help.

But the Goblin Slayer simply swung her greatsword.

She sliced him clean in half, bone spike and all.

He hit the ground with a thud.

The others froze in terror. She actually killed him?

Whose side was this psycho even on?

“Blabbering like that just makes it worse. Better to die quickly and spare yourself the pain.”

The Goblin Slayer said it casually, as if swatting a fly.

Killing a human meant nothing to her; it was no different from swatting a fly.

She wasn’t some saint who only killed goblins—if someone annoyed her, human or not, they died just the same.

Gob Bene’s face twisted in rage. The bone spikes covering his body began to mutate wildly.

The spikes on his back grew longer, his chest armor thickened, and fangs jutted out, almost covering his eyes.

His fingernails turned into long, razor-sharp claws. Bone spikes thickened around his wrists, forming natural armor.

Even his forehead grew a crown of bone horns.

A blood-red aura seeped from his eyes.

  He had gone berserk.

“Like a raging little bull, huh?”

  The Goblin Slayer said calmly.

Gob Bene charged forward like a raging bull.

His claws left bloody trails in the air, as if cutting through it.

He crashed into her with a heavy slam.

The Goblin Slayer swung her greatsword and struck him like a baseball, sending him crashing into a massive boulder. The rock cracked under the impact.

But in the next instant, Gob Bene was already back in front of her.

His bone claws raked her heavy armor, sparks screeching from the impact.

After all his frantic clawing, he left only shallow scratches, barely five millimeters deep.

He couldn't break through at all.

Tian watched from a distance. Even his elemental crossbow wouldn’t help.

Wind, fire, water, poison—none of it could break through.

The armor was too thick and heavy—even wind magic couldn’t make a dent.

Lightning might work, but it was autumn—there hadn’t been a single thunderstorm in a month.

Growing bored with the berserk Gob Bene, the Goblin Slayer grabbed his bone horns with both hands and—

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

With a snap, she broke them off.

She broke them off and jammed them straight into his eye sockets.

Writhing in agony, Gob Bene spun around and tried to flee.

She grabbed him by the tail.

  “Die.”

The Goblin Slayer raised her greatsword high, ready to split him in half.

Seeing this, the other goblins rushed in.

But it was too late. Without Gob Kuang’s raw power or Gob Tian’s ambushes, the regular Greater Goblins were just elite minions at best.

  “CRACK!”

With one swing, she chopped off all the bone spikes on his back and shoulders.

The sword embedded only partway into his shoulder—without the bone armor, he would have been bisected.

Tian wasn’t idle. He gathered a massive amount of earth energy and fired charged shots.

Globs of sticky mud slammed onto the Goblin Slayer’s feet and legs, slowing her down.

Tian muttered to himself, “Should we retreat? But this woman is full of mysteries… and she might be the perfect breeding tool.”

The mystery: why did her daggers make Gob Kuang and Gob Tian lose control so fast?

  Lower-tier goblins just died instantly.

  Plus those slightly pointed ears.

After thinking it over, Tian changed tactics.

Surround her and wear her down. If melee, ranged attacks, and dirty tricks didn’t work, then wear her out by attrition.

Tian appeared, riding Little Huan the bipedal wyvern, and barked orders:

“Everyone fall back! Form a circle! If she advances, we retreat. If she retreats, we advance! Anyone with rocks—throw them! Ranged units—keep firing!”

The Goblin Slayer looked up in surprise. “A goblin who can tame dragons? I knew this place wouldn’t disappoint me.”

Tian kept pinning her with earth element.

The other goblins began harassing her, keeping their distance and launching hit-and-run attacks.

Huge boulders rained down relentlessly, smashing into her and forcing her to stagger. She gritted her teeth to keep herself upright.

The Goblin Slayer let out a mocking laugh. “Is that all you’ve got? Try not to disappoint me.”

“Hmph. We’re not finished—cut down the trees!”

At Tian’s command, the goblins chopped down logs nearly ten meters long.

Several goblins hefted the trunks and slammed them into her again and again.

The damage was minimal, but the constant battering quickly wore down her stamina.

This continued for over an hour—logs smashing, boulders crashing, and earth magic weighing her down, making every movement sluggish.

At last, the Goblin Slayer began to pant heavily.

But the goblins were exhausted too and needed a moment to catch their breath.

Tian smirked. “Let’s see how long you last. Underestimate goblins, and you’ll die for it!”

At that moment, the Goblin Slayer flipped up the visor on her helmet.

Tian frowned, confused about what she was doing.

She picked up Grul’s corpse from the ground, cut off chunks of flesh, and stuffed them into her mouth.

After chewing, she licked her lips clean of blood and meat.

Then she lowered the visor again.

While the goblins caught their breath, she suddenly exploded with energy—like she’d just chugged a stamina potion.

She charged straight into the crowd of goblins.

The Goblin Slayer said coldly, “Rest? Why rest, when you can just recover your energy directly?”

In the blink of an eye, she was among them, greatsword flashing—each swing claimed a goblin. Some died instantly; others writhed in agony from her mysterious power before collapsing.

The goblins who had the upper hand moments before were now scattering in panic.

Even Gob Bene didn’t dare approach.

But from a distance, the Goblin Slayer drew a small dagger from her waist and hurled it at Gob Bene.

Gob Bene was ready this time—he’d seen what happened to Gob Kuang.

He whipped his broken tail to block.

The dagger sliced through the air.

  He blocked the first one.

  But not the second.

Instantly, veins bulged around the tiny dagger wound.

Pain overwhelmed Gob Bene, as if something were devouring him from the inside.

He rolled on the ground, screaming as his bone armor cracked and fell off piece by piece.

Tian cursed inwardly. “Damn, I underestimated her. What is this woman? Eating meat to recover? That’s supposed to be our goblin trick!”

Right now, running was the smart move.

Gob Kuang, Gob Bene—lose them if you have to.

He already had over a hundred breeding tools and a hidden cave.

He could breed more goblins quickly.

“To me, they’re all just expendable anyway.”

Just as Tian was about to grab Eveleya and bolt, the Goblin Slayer spoke.

“I can spare their lives. All I want is to see for myself—what kind of goblin could become this strong? It’s been so long… seven years? No, ten years since I’ve seen a goblin this clever and powerful.”

Tactics, covert manipulation, dragon taming, controlling elves, breeding so many high-tier variants—

This kind of existence was exceptional, even among goblin kings.

There were things even goblin kings couldn’t pull off.

Tian snorted. “That nonsense might work on Gob Kuang. You think I’ll believe you?”

  At those words,

The Goblin Slayer simply dropped her greatsword.

  “Clang!”

And that wasn’t all—she began removing her armor, starting with her helmet.

Golden, slightly wavy hair cascaded down. A stunningly beautiful face appeared.

She asked softly, “Is this enough?”

When the goblins in the distance saw her face, they all froze.

  She was too beautiful.

The kind of beauty that could set your whole body on fire.

But she was a rose with thorns—just look, don’t touch.

Even the skewered victims and Sisuel were stunned. “A woman? The Goblin Slayer… is a woman?”

Tian was completely thrown off. What on earth was this woman trying to do?

She threw away her sword, took off her helmet, tossed it aside.

Right now, Tian was 100% sure he could take her down. A precise poison element shot to the head would do it.

But—she said she’d spare Gob Bene and the others. That meant there was still a chance to save them.

He signaled Little Huan to land slowly.

  Time to talk.

The Goblin Slayer’s breathing suddenly grew hot and rapid. Her beautiful face flushed red.

She looked like she was on the verge of climax again. “Haa… haa… what kind of goblin… are you exactly?”

Finally, Tian stepped down from the wyvern, standing about ten meters away.

  “What?!”

When she clearly saw Tian’s appearance, the Goblin Slayer’s face changed instantly.

From ecstatic excitement to pure shock and confusion. “No way… you’re just a low-tier little goblin?”

“As you wished. Happy now? Hurry up and save that one over there—and the other goblins.”

  Tian said coldly.

But the Goblin Slayer tilted her head, completely unable to process it. “How can this be? Impossible… impossible…”

She looked kind of cute like that.

But time was running out. Gob Bene was foaming at the mouth, writhing. “You messing with me?”

Tian’s eyes filled with killing intent. Might as well just attack now.

  Opportunistic strikes don’t come often.

With no choice, the Goblin Slayer pulled out a small vial filled with bright red blood.

She walked to Gob Bene and dripped one drop into his mouth.

Soon he stopped thrashing—just lay there gasping, unable to move.

Then she went to Gob Kuang and Gob Tian, dripping a drop into each.

Tian frowned, suspicious. “You some kind of witch? What kind of disgusting sorcery is this?”

  It looked exactly like witchcraft.

“Witchcraft? Hmph. Who uses that garbage.”

The Goblin Slayer stopped, turned to face Tian, and said word by word,

“I… am the King of Goblins.”
