Chapter 1: Kamil

“Commander! The battlefield has been cleaned.” Clad in heavy armor made of various precious metals, the General reported.

“Good, how is the situation on Planet Turf?” The Commander asked.

At the mention of Planet Turf, a pained expression appeared on the General's face. But he quickly got hold of himself and reported.

“Commander, after you slayed the Time Beast, the situation has stabilised, and in a year we would be able to reclaim it from the Chaos forces.”

“Search for surviving natives and tend to soldiers' injuries.”

“Yes, Commander!” Getting the orders, the General left.

Finally alone, Kamil looked at the Time orb in his hand with a complex expression.

It's been twenty years since he lost both his wife and daughter. Since then his every waking moment was spent wishing to see them one last time.

But reality was cruel as they died on the Ancient World; even the most powerful Mages on Earth had no way to bring them back.

Just as he was busy wasting away his life, the Chaos invasion reached Earth and he was forced to fight on the front lines.

There he poured all his anger and helplessness into slaughtering Chaos beings.

Before long, he rose through the ranks and became a low-level Commander.

After climbing the ranks, he used his connection and power to search for materials for an S-Rank Gift [Restart], which could allow him to regress back in time.

In the past ten years or so, he had gathered everything, and only the Time Orb was missing.

“Zara,” holding the Time Orb, images of his beloved wife kept flashing before his eyes.

With determination, Kamil got all the materials from his storage ring and placed them alongside the Time Orb and chanted.

“I sacrifice these offerings for the Heavenly might to descend and grant me [Restart].”

After Kamil finished speaking, all the materials before him disappeared and the invisible Heavenly Aura descended upon him.

“No wonder many people fail.” Feeling the enormous pressure on his shoulders, Kamil finally realised why the majority of people fail to acquire S-rank Gifts.

As the Heavenly Pressure continued to increase, Kamil hurriedly grabbed a Life Fruit from his storage ring and ate it.

As an Emperor-grade magic fruit, the Life Fruit contains an enormous amount of vitality capable of turning entire deserts into oases.

“Damn it!” Moments passed and Kamil's body collapsed under the Heavenly Pressure. His muscles began to tear apart and the pain kept increasing.

Thankfully, the Life Fruit began doing its wonders. All the damage to his body was repaired in an instant.

But before long, Kamil's body was once again crushed under the Heavenly Pressure. However, as the damage to his body increased, the Life Fruit's energy started patching up the body.

Thus, a cycle was formed, where Kamil's body would be torn apart under the Heavenly Pressure and then repaired by the Life Fruit.

Before long, 10 minutes passed and Kamil passed the trial.

[Congratulations on obtaining S-rank Gift [Restart].]

“I can go back now.” With moist eyes, Kamil looked at his newest Gift and retrieved a small dagger from his storage ring.

“Yara, don't worry, papa is coming for you.” Without any hesitation, Kamil stabbed the dagger into his heart and killed himself.

  [Ancient Calendar: 1 Jan 0001]

“Did I really travel back in time?” Kamil felt a sense of déjà vu as he looked around the small room.

“Is this some sort of sick joke? I have a meeting to attend tomorrow.”

“Oh my God, I got kidnapped.”

“Dear God, what is going on? That man can't be right, right?”

  “Come outside, everyone come outside.”

Panic spread throughout the whole housing complex the moment the introduction video of the Ascension Program ended.

“I really did come back to this day.”

Stepping out of the room, Kamil knew he was back on the first day of the Ascension Program.

The Ascension Program was started by His Majesty to strengthen the Verse.

The Saint in the introduction clearly explained everything, but humans had a hard time comprehending the existence of alien life and such a supernatural event.

Thus, currently all humans aside from a very small minority were all in a panic.

“I should hurry up before anyone else gets to it.” Not willing to waste a single second, Kamil hurriedly left the housing complex.

Ever since he got news about the Time Beast, Kamil has collected every useful information he could find about the treasure chests around the village where he spawned.

Getting on the road, Kamil saw many people getting out of their housing complexes and wandering around in confusion.

Ignoring everyone around him, Kamil headed toward the village's exit.

A quarter of an hour later, he left the village and headed into the mountain range.

“How am I supposed to get down?” Looking at the sharp cliff, Kamil began looking for a way to get down.

However, he didn't find a single way to get down.

“If he didn't die, why would I!” Taking a leap of faith, Kamil carefully dropped down the cliff.

“It was such a bad idea.” Seeing the distance to the ground, he regretted his decision and began mobilizing whatever Ki he had.

As Kamil had braced himself for the worst, he landed on a stone platform.

“No wonder this Silver Chest wasn't found for a whole month.” Getting up, Kamil saw the Silver-rank treasure chest sitting before his eyes.

Excitedly, he approached the small treasure chest and opened it.

“So, the rewards really are random.”

Seeing a [Skill Book] inside the treasure chest confirmed one of the theories that humans had after the Ascension Program.

Because according to the information he gathered, when the lucky guy opened the chest a month later, he found a Blood Potion.

A rare Rank 5 potion capable of granting people an Innate talent.

“I have to rethink all my plans.” Not even checking the [Skill Book], Kamil fell into deep thought.

A big portion of his foolproof plan depended on collecting the various Gold-rank treasure chests containing precious rewards. But now he had to rethink everything.

“[Aura], such a useless skill.” Looking at the description of the [Skill Book], Kamil hid it inside his clothes and started to figure out a way to get down.

It took him hours but Kamil finally found a way down.

After returning to the village, Kamil was very exhausted. So, he returned to his room and did Ki breathing for a few hours.
