He thought thoroughly about what his course
of action would be next;
Should he remain where he is already? or should he get up and get on with his day, instead?
Val-or better yet-Valaeron, was not in a difficult position. He was in bed.
His motivation was close to zero, and his decision was leaning toward staying in bed and sulking.
Suddenly, he remembered; he had things to do!
He bolted up and got out of bed, his face showing only the most disappointed of emotions.
???: [Heeyyy!!! Get up already! You've got a ceremony today!]
Val: [I'm coming.]
His mother had called for him, even when he had already thought of everything. Because of that, his motivation stooped even lower.
Val thought of how he would love to remain in bed another three, no, four-maybe five hours.
He walked toward the bathroom. He brushed his teeth, and washed his face. The usual.
Not like he really wanted to do any of that.
His mom would be waiting in that big square in the center of the capital. Val always hated going out, specifically that area, since it was very busy, constantly.
He would always ask himself,
"Why are all these angels out here, all the time?"
He would be filled with disappointment, for some reason.
Even though he himself came out for his own reasons, like everyone else, he would hate the others for it. Quite hypocritical.
--
As expected, the main square was filled to the brim with angels.
Val wished he had stayed at home right now more than any other time.
As he walked, and walked, and walked some more, he looked at everyone's faces, one at a time:
One was concentrated, one was happy, one was sleepy...
As much as he hated being there, he was also curious what all these peoples' reasons for being present were.
Pretty hypocritical.
Realizing he was almost late, even though he wasn't even close to getting to the meeting point, he started oddly running.
Then he stopped, thinking that would make him awkwardly stand out, ad he did not want that.
He would stand out anyways, so it was no use. People were gasping his way, even though he was simply walking.
I'd say that's justified. After all, he is the heir to God.
--
Walking wouldn't get him anywhere on time;
He decided to fully commit to running, realizing he's already target of everyones' gaze.
He starts wondering if he'd prefer being a nobody. Someone unknown, but who still lives a great life.
He probably wouldn't. In the end, he doesn't hate his 'popular' life.
He steps foot on a playground, to get there faster.
Val: [Gotta get there...]
The playground was actually filled with his friends.
Angels he met at the school he went to, where he learned the most important concepts of this world.
Val: [On time.]
None of these were close friends;
He didn't have anyone to call a 'best friend' or anyone even remotely close. He never really understood the reaso--
Suddenly, he was falling face first toward the ground. The soft ground. The one playgrounds usually have.
"Shit"
Val hit the floor with his face pretty hard, he might have hurt himself.
He had tripped on one of his "friend"s' legs, which was extended out onto Vals' path. He hadn't realized, since he was busy thinking of a bunch of things.
???: [Waa! I'm so sorry... Are you okay Val?]
Val slowly got up with a highly disapproving look on his face.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Val: [I'm fine, Ace, thanks. Don't worry.]
Ace: [Oh, okay. I'm sorry again.]
Once he got up, he started running again. He forgave Ace, without a shadow of a doubt. It was clearly an accident.
That's what he thought to himself.
It was an accident. What else could it have been?
Finally, he got to the meeting point with a slight delay, but he was sure he would be forgiven.
He found his mom still, in a mob of people who were moving in every direction around her. She was checking the time.
He ran. His mom, finally catching sight of him, waved with a big smile on her face.
They had not seen each other since the last big event, about 5 days ago.
Royal life was difficult.
Val: [Hey mom.]
His mom was one of the few people he was happy to see anytime he could. She was a good woman, diligent, at least.
???: [Heyyy! I've missed you! How's it going?]
A smile appeared on Val's face. Frankly, he couldn't help it.
Val: [Everything's been fine, thanks. What's up with you?]
???: [I'm good! I've been pretty busy, these last days. Sorry i couldn't come visit before today..]
Val: [Oh, don't worry. I'm just... Happy i got to see you.]
That was hard to admit.
For context, Valaeron had been alive in this world for about 15 human years. At that time in an angel's life, one is not fully developed.
Even though he was significantly smaller than a grown angel, he was already taller and bigger than an average human.
Serves to say, in this phase of any angel's life, the mother is still an extremely important figure.
It wasn't any less important for Val.
Val and his mother, Caelira, were walking toward this ceremony spot, presumably inside the nearby temple.
They were laughing. Both were having a great time! So wholesome.
Caelira: [You mentioned something happening while getting to the meeting spot?]
Val: [Oh yeah. Uhh. Well..]
Caelira: [What is it? Something embarassing?]
She said that with a smirk on her face. She was right on the money.
Val: [I tripped on Ace. At the playground]
Caelira started laughing, managing to get a "You did?" out in between her laughters.
She hesitated, then she went completely serious.
Val looked at his mother, concerned.
Caelira: [It was an accident.]
She said that in the most serious tone possible.
Val kept the smile on his face, even though he was weirded out by his mothers' reaction.
He looked away, still smiling.
Val: [I know, I know.]
Val thought to himself: "Mom thinks I'm stupid at times."
He looked toward his side. There were many angels, minding their own business, going about their day.
He hated this environment, his surroundings. Full of people, he much preferred being alone.
But he was still having a great time.
Maybe going out today wasn't that big of a mistake.
Val turned his gaze back toward his mother.
Now where did she-
Val: [Mom?]
Val wasn't worried; nothing happened to cause that reaction.
He started looking around. After some perusing, he managed to spot Caelira talking to a seemingly high-importance individual quite a ways back from where he was.
He decided to wait in place.
Once their conversation came to a close, Caelira returned to Val with a disappointed expression.
Caelira: [Hey, so uhh. I'm really sorry, but i got some urgent stuff to deal with. If you wanna wait for me, i won't be long. Sorry, again, i can't skip this one..]
Val thought to himself: "Oh"
Val: [Oh. That's fine. I'll wait on those steps.]
Val pointed to a set of stairs close by, that brought to the inside of the building the stairs were attached to. Caelira gave a look of approval to Val's response and scurried back to where she came from.
Val was a little sad, or disappointed, but not surprised. She is Gods' wife, his second in charge, basically.
While he's in his room, with the power to do whatever he wants, his wife is left with a big chunk of the work.
Caelira wasn't the happiest with this, but she could handle it pretty easily. She didn't hate her life, either.
If she's in Heavens' capital, it's only natural she has things to tend to.
That's what was going on inside Val's mind.
Oh, and also, he really wanted to explore some of the area. The crowd had settled down to a manageable point, so he felt like it.
Val was actually an inherently curious and highly intelligent angel. At least, going off of what he had displayed so far in his life.
Val thought: "I'm young. I really ought to explore"
A voice, from not too far away, directed itself toward Val.
???: [Pull.]
Val felt his desire to explore growing.
