CHP 162: BATTLE OF SILENCE

Haozi calmly stepped back from beneath it, only then did the horse slowly lowered it's legs, bowing very low in veneration.

Jin Ni instantly jumped down from her horse and darted towards Haozi.

She raised her small head to look at him and bombarded him with questions.

"Who are you?, Why do you have my Father's token?, How did you get it?"

Haozi lowered his hand, kept the token and tried to answer.

But she didn't even allow him to, before shouting angrily.

"Can't you answer me?!, Did you steal it?!, Did you really?!"

Chen Haoran slowly dismounted and stepped towards them. He patted Jin Ni's head and faced Haozi.

"Yes?" He asked quite casually, as if he didn't try to lope his head off just now.

Seeing that his tactic worked, Haozi slowly regained his confidence. He looked straight at Chen Haoran and questioned. "Are you in command?"

Chen Haoran stared at him without a word, but Jin Ni looked incensed.

"How dare you lowly servant question the commander, you must be seeking to die!."

Chen Haoran slowly turned to her, annoyed. "Will you shut your mouth for once."

"No, I won't!" She puffed up her chest in anger before continuing. "Father refused to give me a token, how could this lowly thing has one?!, That is unfair!"

Chen Haoran rolled his eyes and shot back. "That is because you are a brat, a witch even, one with anger issues!" He criticized angrily.

"How dare you!" She shouted at him furiously.

Chen Haoran ignored her and turned to Haozi.

Haozi immediately take out the jade slip and handed it to him. "Since you are in charge, this is for you."

"Young Master take the mission seriously." He added.

  Jin Ni's ears perked up.

"Young Master, who is your rude-"

"Your brother" Haozi cut in, glaring at her in annoyance.

"Young Mast— huh?!" Jin Ni stopped mid-rant, stunned.

Chen Haoran ignored them, he broke the seal on the slip and peered into it.

A moment later, his brow furrowed.

Jin Ni stepped closer to Haozi, her anger completely doused. "You mean brother Yu?, Where is he?" She asked curiously like a cat.

Haozi gave her a side glance and ignored her.

Jin Ni didn't seem to mind, she continued asking questions, while looking around, trying to catch a glimpse of Jin Yu.

"Tell me now, is he hiding nearby?, what is he doing in City of Vled? Why is he not here himself?"

Haozi gave a curt reply. "I don't know."

Jin Ni was about to flare up when,

  Crack!

Chen Haoran crushed the jade slip into smithereens, his face filled with Fury.

"How dare this little brat!, What does he take the Jin name for?!" He asked in both anger and disbelief.

  Haozi brow furrowed.

  Is something wrong?

Jin Ni stared at the crushed jade dispersing in the wind.

"Why did you break it without showing me?, What did he say?"

Chen Haoran glared at Haozi, and questioned angrily. "What trouble is he trying to stir this time?, What is the meaning of this?"

Haozi was confused, but replied honestly. "I don't know."

Jin Ni chimed in criticizingly. "How could you not know, you were always with him!"

"I only met brother Yu a few minutes ago!" Haozi shot back.

  "You little serv-!"

"Enough!" Chen Haoran shouted at her.

"You too!" Jin Ni shouted back.

Chen Haoran looked like he wanted to punch someone but refrained.

He angrily turned back and stepped closer to the Jin brothers, a black-golden paper-like trinket appeared in his hand, he spoke into it and at the same time, the whole squad could hear his voice in their ears, even Haozi.

"Pretend not to know Young Master Jin, just follow my lead." He said with gritted teeth.

"Yes!" The men answered in unison. No curiosity, no questions.

  Only Jin Ni asked him.

  "Why?, Why would I pretend?"

  Haozi perked up, also curious.

Chen Haoran glared at her. "Ask me again." He answered rudely and mounted his horse.

"You litt-!" She wanted to curse at him but stopped, she mounted her horse angrily while muttering. "I will ask him when I see him."

Haozi stepped aside, lest he get trampled by the two angry people.

Jin Ni glared at him. "Are you trying to run away?"

Haozi also glared at her. "Why would I even run."

"Good. Someone grab him." Jin Ni commanded and went after Chen Haoran who was now in the distance.

One of the Ri(Silver) Warrior grabbed Haozi's shoulder and threw him behind himself, riding off after Jin Ni.

The other Warriors followed closely behind.

  ----

The Golden Sun had set by the time Jin Yu reached the dome-shaped building, the twin Moon was becoming faintly visible in the clouded sky.

He stopped in front of the building but didn't enter, he still remembered the discomfort he felt while inside it.

He should check whether the imposter has not ran away. But trusting the power of the City Lord, he didn't even bother.

He knew the imposter was nothing but a cornered beast, he has no way of escaping.

A man suddenly appeared in view.

  Talk of the devil.

Jin Yu looked at his 'friend' he had played with earlier, Wu Han.

Wu Han glared at Jin Yu like he wanted to eat him raw.

"Call out your friend, City Lord invites both of you over." He spoke without an ounce of courtesy.

Jin Yu gestured to the black building with a smile, obviously telling him to do that himself.

"Hmph" Wu Han humphed and was about to enter when Rong Yue came out of the building.

Rong Yue didn't let Wu Han speak before striking him with a question.

"Did you really kidnapped my servant?, You must really be tired of living!"

Jin Yu's eyes lit up, he immediately chimed in from the side. "He definitely is!, how dare you kidnap the servant of Young Master Jin, you uncultured cog!"

"Whether it is kidnap or escort, we will know after verifying your identity, now come with me."

Rong Yue lashed out furiously. "Your head will be the first to roll after verifying My Identity."

Jin Yu nodded in agreement, adding fuel to fire. "He must be looking down on the Jin Name, Such disregard, you think an Immortal is a joke?"

  Wu Han glared at him.

  Jin Yu glared back.

"Bastard!" Rong Yue cursed at Wu Han.

Wu Han looked at Rong Yue. "If you have nothing to hide, then you should be eager to prove your identity, why are you wasting time?"

Jin Yu didn't let Rong Yue reply, he pointed an accusatory finger at Wu Han, as if he had just done an abominable act.

"Are you saying Young Master Jin is fake?!, That he is an imposter?!, Is your head full of shit?, Or our little 'exchange' earlier had damaged your brain beyond repair that you can't think anymore?!"

Wu Han finally lost his cool.

Wu Han trembled from trying to control his killing Intent.

Jin Yu only stared at him in disdain.

Rong Yue looked at Jin Yu suspiciously. Why is he more angry than me?

What he didn't know is that, Jin Yu was intentionally buying time for Haozi, in case he has not meet the Jin brothers.

He should have delivered my message by now. Jin Yu thought and looked at Rong Yue.

"Young Master Jin, don't mind this lowly animal, let us go and prove your identity. Only then can you teach them a lesson."

Jin Yu didn't wait for his reply, he grabbed Rong Yue by the arm and glared at Wu Han as if marking his face.

"You just wait for my brother's comeback, I will personally teach you a lesson."

  Then he phased out.

Wu Han didn't stay either, he also disappeared.

Jin Yu and Rong Yue appeared in front of the City Lord's Mansion.

Wu Han appeared a few moments later.

A smile tugged at Jin Yu's lips as he swept his gaze over the Cavalry of Men dressed in black battle suits, sat atop sturdy horses rippling with strength.

They were divided into two groups.

A group to the left had a distinctive reddish-brown emblem on their chest, horse alike.

Each and every one of them was brimming with peak Stage of Essence Core Realm, full of life.

The second group had silver emblems shining brightly on their chest, while their stallions had silver sheen fur.

Their aura was overflowing with peak Nascent Soul Realm cultivation, as if they will step into the transcendent realm in the next moment.

If one look at each and every one of their emblems well, one would see the etching of a Dragon and Sunburst on them.

At the very front of these men, was a young looking man in his early thirties, his posture was firm yet relaxed. Merely sitting atop his black horse, he exudes a quiet authority.

  Chen Haoran.

These twenty-one men stared at Jin Yu without a word.

The smile on Jin Yu's lips slowly disappeared when he saw that all the Jin brothers were looking at him.

  His brow furrowed.

Was Haozi not able to deliver my message?

Rong Yue's heart was beating heavily in his ribcage, that he almost cried from pain.

It felt like his Soul would fly out of his body any second.

The worst he had expected was a few men coming to confirm whether he is Jin Yu or not, but this... This is a Cavalry!.

When the Jin brothers shifted their gaze to him, his Soul totally flew away.

He almost dropped to his knees to beg for mercy but Jin Yu held his arms firmly.

Yin Lei, the City Lord watched all these without so much as an expression.

Though she was certain that Rong Yue wasn't who he claimed to be, she still watched intently, expecting the Jin brothers' reaction.

Even Wu Han that had been angry before, stood quietly to the side, watching the growing silence with bated breath.

The air got tense, both party having a battle of silence.
