There were two sectors, each divided by a wall. There were two types of distinction that could be taken out from such a simple type of differentiation. The outer people and the inner people that were divided by two protective walls that were built for the safety and the well being of its denizens against the waves of Depraves that attacked the cities in droves every decade or two. It was a typical city like the others and it was one of the many that had littered the collapsed world in the present era. In the past, there were no walls. The first human settlements that had lived mainly flourished on agriculture and other smaller products but with the advent of Deprave multiplicity, natural steps were to be taken and it resulted in the walled city. The idea was that the Depraves had a natural cycle that every decade later, they would attack the human settlement and destroy everything that humans had built for so long. It was something that humans could not make a compromise so the human civilization came together against their common enemy, the Depraves, the things and the actual residents of the collapsed world, that whom could not kill the humans but destroy everything that they had built as it was impossible to die after the ingestion of the immortality drug. People could still lose an arm or a leg but they were able to counter it by using armor and the prosthesis therapy. However, the technology did not counter the loss of the head so even the immortality drug had its shortcomes so a person would surely die when his head was cut down while he would become ugly and could become a turned Deprave also known as Zhuan.
In this walled city, everything was silent and cool as it was the time of the year when the Deprave attack was going to happen but it was not a big deal for the short group that came in the jeeps from the mountain side.
“ I can see the city, we are almost there.” Amir reported to me what he could see through his wolf morphed eyes.
“ OK, good job.” I thanked Amir for the really good feedback. Amir was capable of morphing his entire body in a wolf type Deprave and if needed, he was also able to partial morph his bodies at will so keeping was a handy thing.
“ Yes, just approximately one mile is the distance between us and the city gates.” Tuz thought it was the best time to butt in on our conversation and came up with an even better result. I looked at her and when she noticed that I was looking at her, she looked away like she was a shy little girl even though she was an old hag who was at the very least three hundred years old. Such a disillusioned behavior was what made me unable to understand the females.

We were in a jeep and we were coming really hard at the incoming speed to the city. Unlike before when we were traveling down the mountainous slope, the speed and the mood that we were having was settled down and we were at the top of our spirits. The downhill slope walk was on foot but once we were out of the mountainous range, it was a sport of vehicles like a jeep or a monster truck. The night had fallen and the dark Depraves were going to come sooner than later but all thanks to the courtesy of the city night watch, the Depraves near the city were at a low number so it was a pretty nice pace at which we were going to meet them. The jeeps were equipped with anti-Deprave guns so any leftover Deprave that came in our was vaporized from the face of the earth as our jeep’s equipment was the state of the art technology so it was only some time before we reached the city’s outer wall unscathed and bored of the downhill travel.
In about ten minutes, we had reached the city wall and the city wall’s door was closed. A verification was needed before the city gates were opened so I simply threw the rabbit’s hair that Tuz had given me as to show my verification. The person who came to check our verifications after seeing me saluted me and quickly ran away. After two minutes, he came with a token and a card that was the reward that I had gotten from the rabbit Deprave hunt. The junior was followed by a stern looking man with a very angry face, he came up to the jeep and quickly extended his hand.
“ Thank you, sir. You solved our problem. The rabbit Deprave had given us a lot of problems and the security of the city was compromised a number of times because of this Deprave. It is my earnest thanks to you for again settling one of our problems.”
I listened to the man’s words of gratitude but I simply looked at Tuz who after seeing my glance quickly looked away and tried to hide her face. This stern looking man was called Anas and he had been ray shifted to the collapsed world about a hundred years ago. He was a responsible little lad and who was participating in a war before the men on both sides were brought to this accursed world that made no sense at all but it was said where there is a will, there is a way. I have already listened to his story a couple of times and given him words of encouragement but he was depressed at first but now a hundred years later, he was working as a senior city wall guard and his Pinyin was not a very strong one but he was still happy with it so I gifted him some of my older gears to make up for his lost equipment. Since that day, he has always respected me and honored me like this. I was thinking only if he knew that the rabbit Deprave was alive and well, and was right before him, what face would he make.
