“Marina! Come quickly! You have to gather the children and get to Boro as fast as you can!” Theos LaGon shouted at his wife as they met in the middle of the hallway.
“What is going on?! Why is our city on fire Theos? What’s going on?!” Marina questioned her husband as he grabbed her arm and guided her towards their bedroom quarters. As soon as he opened the door a maid handed him a bag filled with clothes and food. Marina yanked her arm back and straightened her fluffy red dress, “Theos… who are those women outside? One of them is shooting fire from her hands!”
Theos stopped scrambling around for a second and confronted his wife. They could hear people outside their palace screaming for help. The smoke from the nearby houses filled the halls quickly almost making it hard to breathe. The staff and everyone around them began to flee. “Marina… I don’t have time to explain. You must listen to me and take our children to my brother Stefan…”
Before he could get any further instructions out Theos’ three children burst through the doors frantic and scared. “Father everything is burning! We must call someone to aid us otherwise we will lose everything!” Rogelio shouted. He was the eldest and Theo’s heir in the LaGon clan. At the time, he was only twelve. “Father!”
“Ro, listen to me!” Theos let go of his wife and placed both hands on his son’s shoulders. His daughter and youngest son both ran over to their mother frightened. The cries for help started to feel overwhelming. He gently guided his son’s attention back to his, “Are you listening? They are here for me… Remember everything I taught you ok.” He grabbed his son’s arms tight as he explained. “We deserve to live freely and not under the rule of the Star Counsel. Remember that all of the Star Children are our enemies, that’s who’s outside right now. The most elite of them all, the Angels of Death.” Theos reached into his pocket and gave his son a small shiny metallic stone. “Hold on to this with your life, you hear me? You are the man of this family now Ro. I trust you to help your mother get everyone to safety. Without you, they won’t make it.”
Rogelio looked down at the shiny light weight stone, “What is this?”
Theos grabbed both of Rogelio’s hands enclosing the unique stone tight and said, “The only thing that can kill them… Now take it to your uncle and he will know what to do with it.”
Marina grabbed Theos by his shoulder turning him around to face her, “What do you mean they’re here for you?! Theos what did you do?”
“I’m trying to set us free, Marina. I’m the leader of the Free People, the Rebels… I swore to help bring down those Star Counsel bitches and their bastard minion Esio. I did what I had to Marina for us and for our people.” Theos tried to explain but with all the commotion it was hard for his wife to comprehend everything he was saying. She kept shaking her head in disbelief, swinging her hands around then began to cry.
Theos’ second in command suddenly burst through the door frantic. His bronze burnt orange and blue armor shined as it reflected the light from the fire outside. “Sir! They are calling out for you! The Angels of Death, they only want to speak to you… What do you want us to do? They have already killed most of our men and everything is almost burned down.”
Theos stood to his feet and began to push his family out of the door. “Anthony, escort my family to the tunnels then return back to me in the main court. We will put our new weapons to the test… Go! I will gather the remaining soldiers, and we will stand our ground.”
The leader of the LaGon Clan kissed each member of his family before they left running through the hallways. Theos ran in the opposite direction. He ran towards the main court where the remainder of his soldiers were already lined up waiting for their orders. “This has to work…” He whispered to himself. He handed his last men specially made spears with the unique glowing stone engrained on top.
Theos never noticed the stones glowing before. The color was a bright light blue. As he stepped closer to the four women the glow became brighter. None of the four women didn’t say a word instead they were focused on the glowing weapon. They stood motionless as they faced the soldiers until one stepped forward. “Theos LaGon, you will pay for your crimes against the Star Counsel. You should consider this an honor to be in front of all four Angels of Death.” She flicked her long beautiful straight blond hair off her shoulders. She wore all white which matched her crème color skin. “One of us could have came and slit your throat in your sleep. Instead, we wanted to make an example out of you. Out of all of your kind.”
“You can kill me tonight but that won’t stop the rebellion. We will live free one day and the Star Counsel will fall even if it takes my last breath! Soldiers ready your weapons!” The five soldiers with the special spears got in their ready stance. “On my word, take them out.”
Again, the blond woman standing in front of the others flicked her hair smirking this time. She nodded over of her shoulder to her sister standing on the far left. This Angel was dressed in all black and the top of her sleeves were simmered off. Her long black locks were into one thick braid which flowed down her back. She stepped forward and sprayed a burst of fire from her hands. In one move she killed the remaining soldiers surrounding their leader, leaving Theos all alone.
He dropped down to his knees clutching his spear tight as he looked down at the charred black ground. The beautiful blond Angel walked over slowly to the fallen and defeated leader. Just before she approached him, Theos decided to make his final move. He lifted one knee for leverage and threw his spear as hard as he could, giving it everything he had left in him. Just in the matter of time the blond Angel ducked out of the way leaving the sister behind her defenseless and surprised. The glowing spear went directly into the center of her chest making her fly backwards a few feet. The fire wielding Angel screamed out in despair. She quickly turned around and lit up Theos until he dropped dead turning into ash.
The Angels quickly went to their sister’s side. They circled her in a panic as they watched her die. From afar, Rogelio witnessed the whole thing. He saw firsthand how his father’s discovery worked against these elite chosen of the Star Counsel. They weren’t unstoppable, they weren’t immortal… “Ro, let’s go... There’s nothing left for us here.” Anthony also watched from afar and knew there was no point in going back. He made the decision to stay with his leader’s family. The best way for the LaGon name to live on was through Theos’ children and Anthony would make sure of that. That night was a new beginning for the LaGon legacy. That night, what Rogelio witnessed would stay with him forever…

Fifty years later…
“Sir! We’ve pinpointed it’s location. It’s going to land just over that horizon.” The navigator pointed to the small mountain peak and a cluster of trees a half mile away. He held up his specially made device which helped him locate the precise landing spots of the Fallen Stars. They were in the middle of the Kenta Desert late at night just after the sun went down.
“Good. I’ll gather the mil... I mean my friends to accompany you. If we leave now, we’ll make there before dusk.” The Rebel Leader replied. At the moment, the young navigator did not know whose company he was in. He was taken back by all the soldiers and equipment they brought just to see the Fallen Star.
“Sir, um excuse me? You know we cannot touch or interact with the Star, right? My job is considered sacred and…” The navigator stumbled on words before being interrupted.
“Listen, Tuni is it? I’m here to do a job just like you so once we find the Star, you can leave.” As the Rebel Leader started to turn around the navigator continued making his case.
Walking as fast as his skinny legs could to keep up the young navigator said, “It’s my job to report any Fallen Stars immediately to the Star Counsel and if I don’t…” Again, Tuni was interrupted. The Rebel Leader quickly turned around and grabbed his throat. “Mr. LaGon… please… don’t kill me.”
“You better not say shit you little weasel. If you want to make it out here alive, you will keep your mouth shut.” The Rebel Leader squeezed his grip tighter around Tuni’s neck. His biceps bulged as he tried controlling his strength. Just a little tighter and he would kill Tuni… The Rebel Leader brought Tuni close to his face and asked, “Do I make myself clear?” The young navigator nodded his head yes, the best he could.
“Uncle Ro, the soldiers are ready.” Hearing his nephew Alex coming up from behind him made, the current Rebel Leader, Rogelio LaGon, loosen his grip. Tuni dropped down to the ground coughing and holding his neck. For a man in his sixties no one could tell. He was super fit and built like a man in their twenties. Everything Ro stood for was about power…
The militia was made of fifteen men and women began walking towards where the navigator predicted the Star was going to land. The Fallen Star came shooting down towards to the ground like a missile from the sky. When it landed in the middle of the small forest area, the crash made a loud noise. “Just over that hill.” A female soldier pointed out as she stood in the middle of the debris of burnt trees. The bright blue glow was hard to miss for the glow began to radiant brighter as they approached.
“I see it…” The Rebel Leader turned around and faced his militia to make an announcement. “Listen up! We make this quick and easy as usual and get the fuck out of here. Understood?” Ro LaGon was the first to make his way up the sand hill. Both men and women nodded their heads as they followed him up the hill to the glowing light.
Alex stayed behind and watched along side the navigator. Tuni twisted and turned his hands in different directions like the situation made him uncomfortable, well it did. Alex turned and asked, “Why is this whole ‘Fallen Star’ thing so important anyway? You look like you’re about to have a heart attack.”
Tuni slowed turned to Alex then put his hands in his pockets. “Yes young Mr. LaGon I am about to have a heart attack… The ‘Fallen’ were chosen Stars that descend from space and take shape of the inhabitants. The purpose of the Fallen Star is the mate with someone or something of their choice. As a result, Star Children or Star Creatures are born. Special beings with unique powers and abilities that are supposed to be used to protect and serve the innocent all around the universe. This is an important and sacred process… This was not the point of me bringing you all out here.”
Alex cut his eyes when as he listened to Tuni explained his philosophy. “Ok Tuni, answer me this… If these ‘Star Children’ are supposed to ‘protect and serve the innocent’ than why are so many people afraid of them? Why do they hide in shadows? In my opinion Tuni, that story about the Star Children is nothing but a ploy. A nicely wrapped cover made up by the Star Counsel so they can create an army for their empire.”
Tuni’s eyes widened when he heard Alex’s hate speech towards the Star Counsel. He began to back away slowly while putting up his hands like he was prepared for Alex to attack him. “Please Mr. LaGon don’t blame me for how you feel about the Star Counsel. I’m here because your uncle paid me to find a Fallen. Please I have a wife and a small son… I would like to make it back home to them.”
Alex also put up his hands and began following Tuni as he backed away. “Relax man, I’m not going to hurt you. We just have a strong difference of opinions is all.” Alex picked up the navigator metal device Tuni used to locate the Fallen and dusted off the sand. “How about I make you a deal? You show me how to use this thing, and I’ll keep you alive. Think about it Tuni, my uncle and his people got what they were looking for. Now you’re no longer useful… Plus, we need that Star more than you think.”
Tuni took a big gulp and looked mortified after hearing Alex’s ‘deal’. “It’s not something I can teach you in an hour. It took years to learn how to read the navigations. However, if it keeps me alive then fuck it…” The navigator rubbed his neck as he walked closer to Alex.
Tuni was not a stupid man… at least he thought he knew what was going on. He knew if he showed Alex exactly how to use the special device, he was for sure going to get killed. Instead, Tuni showed him the backwards and incorrect way. When Ro LaGon contacted him about the job, he made it seem like he and his group were devoted followers to the Star Counsel. Ro even offered extra pay if he could get there before it landed. ‘It’s a dream of mine to see a beautiful Star land…’ Tuni thought himself as he remembered Ro’s exact words. He should have known then there was something off about this gig.
The name LaGon kept spinning in his head. Tuni knew he had heard that name before… Moments later, Ro and his militia walked down the sand hill passing he and Alex. Two men were carrying a large wooden box held up by two large steel rods. The box glowed bright blue… it was unmistakable to what was in it. “Is the Star in that box?!” Tuni screamed out as Ro approached Alex. He whispered something in his ear, nodded then kept walking with his militia. “You’re Essence stealers! The worse of all the rebels! I knew I’ve heard that name before, LaGon! The most-evil of all the rebel groups… I curse you all!”
Alex walked over slowly to Tuni while rubbing his buzzed cut hair. He laughed to himself as he got closer, “You know what Tuni? I was just beginning to like you. Really, I was…” Alex pulled out his long freshly sharpened machete and pointed it directly towards Tuni’s chest. Tuni fell to the ground scared and helpless. He looked at the weapon then back up at Alex, “Now it’s my turn to let you in on a little secret. I know a thing or two about Counsel appointed navigators. They aren’t allowed to have families so, what you said earlier about getting home to your family was a bunch of bullshit.”
Tuni started scooting back as much as he could as Alex got closer. “Wait! I can explain, please! What about the deal you made with me?!”
“You’re right we did make a deal however it’s not something Ro approved… You have it all wrong Tuni, this is all about unfinished business.” Alex pulled his arm all the way back and swung downward as hard as he could killing Tuni with one swing. He looked up and met Ro’s gaze as he watched from afar. Alex nodded and said, “Unfinished business…”
