Chapter 2: Freefall into a new life

  Something was not quite right…

I didn’t know how, but I was pretty sure that I wasn’t supposed to be falling.

  Wait… falling?

“Oh crap!” suddenly I was wide awake and screaming at the top of my lungs.

How did I end up here? And what exactly should I do to survive this load of shit I woke up to? It was not everyday that you awoke to a freefall and I sure as hell was not thrilled to die right now.

Way too fast for my taste, the ground came into view, and I saw a large tree below me.

There! That was my only chance to survive this! Admittedly it was a pretty low possibility, but I didn’t exactly have the luxury to choose in my current dilemma.

Slowly I managed to change my position into more of a dive than an uncontrolled fall and targeted the huge oak tree I chose as my lifeline.

Now all I could do was clench my teeth and brace for impact!

  Wamm!

“That’s bulshit!” I cursed loudly. To more I was not able right now. I completely missed the tree and crashed at full speed into the ground.

Moaning I sat up and examined my arms and legs. Everything seemed to be in order and nothing was broken.

Thinking about it I felt pretty good considering that I just fell from the sky.

“How in the hell is that possible?” How was I not even hurt a little bit after such a fall?

Angrily I glared up at the tree that possessed the audacity to not even look a little ashamed that he did not catch me and rather stayed completely lifeless.

  “Stupid piece of wood!”

Rubbing my head I stood up and investigated the place I crashed into.

It seemed to be a vegetable field into which I blew a giant hole with my landing.

In the distance I could see a bunch of decrepit houses and a mob of people slowly advancing to my landing site.

“Ah!” Perhaps I should get away as fast as possible. I did not believe these people would be happy that I destroyed their fields.

Determined I limped in the opposite direction of the angry villagers, hoping to somehow get into a nicer neighborhood so I could ask around and find out where the hell I even was.
