Epilogue Part 2
"Hey Amos!"
Amos was in his large King sized bed in the Throne of Alfheim with Reva and Freya fast asleep on both sides of him. He was staring up at the ceiling thinking of where he had come from and where he was going. Suddenly, he received a transmission from his holobadge. It was Stargate Command.
"Hey Sam!"responded Amos. "What's up?"
"Rodney and I were wondering if you could stop by Stargate Command; there's something we need to tell you," said Major Carter with a worried look on her face.
Amos quickly ended the transmission and proceeded to get out of bed. After he had gotten dressed he teleported to the room Sam and Rodney were in in Stargate Command.
"Woah, you scared the shit out of me!" said Dr. Rodney Mckay.
Amos rubbed the back of his head and laughed,"Sorry, I used Godspeed to get here as quickly as possible." Amos looked at both of them, a look of worry and discomfort plastered on both of their faces. "Your call seemed urgent, care to explain what's going on?"said Amos.
Dr. Mckay and Major Carter gave each other a worried look.
"You don't exist,"said Dr. Mckay.
Amos was baffled by Dr. Mckay's blatant and peculiar revelation.
"Huh, what do you mean I don't exist, I'm right here,"said Amos.
Stolen novel; please report.
"What he means to say is that you don't exist on the Planet Earth," said Major Carter.
A frightful look came over the face of Amos Fyree as he tried to comprehend the meaning of their words.
"We checked for birth certificates, social security numbers, dental records, the whole nine yards, yet we couldn't find anyone with the name Amos Fyree," said Dr. McKay.
"Um… but I'm from Chicago, I went to Dorothy Day High School. I'm from Earth."
Dr. Mckay nodded his head as Amos spoke.
"Listen, I'm sure you did grow up in 'A Chicago' and attended 'A Dorothy Day High School' just not the one here,"said Dr. McKay.
Amos squinted his eyes trying to understand what Dr. Mckay was trying to say then Major Carter opened her mouth and explained.
"We think you come from another universe – an alternative timeline,"said Major Carter. "We've consulted with the Asgard on the device you used to get here."
"The hourglass," blurted Amos.
"Yes… the ancient hourglass device created by the Lantean scientist named Janus. It appears that the device does not just send people back in time,"said Major Carter.
"It sends people to alternative timelines,"finished Dr. Mckay.
All this time Amos had thought that he was sent back 15 years into the past, now he was being told that he wasn't just sent into the past, he was sent into another timeline.
"Well what does this mean, for the future and the events that already transpired,"said Amos.
"Nothing will change,"said Major Carter.
"Not in your timeline, at least,"concluded Mckay.
Sam continued, "We believe that Janus made this device so that he could safely travel back in time without doing irreparable harm to the timeline."Sam then grabbed a small string that was laying on the table. "Imagine time is like this parallel line. Everything you change in the past will always affect the future. However, what if you could go to a different line directly parallel to this one. Both lines appear the same, look the same, and both are heading in the same direction, however —
"No matter what you change on this line, it won't have any detrimental effects on the other line,"finished Dr. Mckay.
Amos folded his arms and rubbed his beard, then began to think.
"You mean to tell me that all the efforts I've done to change the future won't happen? That you and Dr. Jackson are still going to die in the future – my future?"said a worried yet inquisitive Amos.
Major Carter dropped her head then raised it again and said, "That's right. Until we learn how this device actually works, or either the Lanteans or Janus show up, there is no way we can save the other version of me and Daniel in the other timeline. I'm sorry."
Amos hunched over as if he had the wind knocked out of him. When he had finally regained his composure he stood up and said:
"Well, if that's the case, we need to put all of our effort into building this Commonwealth and prepare for the return of the Lantean race."
The End.
