Five routes.
One island.
One hour that changed everything.
And somehow, even after all that, I still feel like there are a hundred more versions hiding between the waves.
That’s the thing about Rent-A-Girlfriend.
It’s full of moments that feel like they almost happened.
Moments that should have lasted longer.
Words that should have been said differently.
Glances that could have changed everything if someone had just held them for one second more.
That’s why I wrote The Hour Between Us.
Because I kept thinking about that missing stretch of time after Kazuya jumped after Chizuru. I kept thinking about what could have happened if rescue had come late. If the sea had given them one impossible hour alone. If fear, love, anger, truth, tears, peace, or one reckless kiss had been allowed to breathe just a little longer.
And now that these five routes are finished, I want to ask something simple:
If you seriously love Rent-A-Girlfriend the way I do, tell me what scene I should write next.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Drop a moment, a what-if, or a scene that’s been living in your head in the comments, and I’ll give you my fanfiction take on it.
Maybe it’s a scene the anime rushed past.
Maybe it’s a conversation that never happened.
Maybe it’s a confession that came too late.
Maybe it’s a quiet balcony moment.
Maybe it’s a completely different route where one choice changes everything.
Whatever it is, I want to hear it.
One of my favorite things about fanfiction is that it lets us open the locked doors canon leaves behind. Sometimes just a crack. Sometimes wide enough to walk through barefoot and never come back the same.
So this chapter is yours.
Give me:
- your missing moment
- your favorite what-if
- the scene you always wished you could see
- the version of Kazuya and Chizuru that’s been haunting your brain
And I’ll write the next chapter based on a reader request.
In fact, I’m going to treat the first request I receive as the next story.
So if you’ve got a scene in your head, now’s the time. Don’t be shy. Don’t overthink it. Just throw it at me.
Maybe it's a date between two characters.
A kiss that never happened.
A fight that should have happened.
A confession interrupted too soon.
A night walk.
A rain scene.
A train station goodbye.
A jealous what-if.
A “what happened after” chapter.
Anything.
If this little five-route project meant something to you, I’d love to keep going.
So go ahead.
Tell me your missing moment.
That’s the next tide I want to follow.
Thank you so much for reaching the end of this story. I cannot wait for your comments. This has been a very nice journey.
I received one request already. I'm excited.
Here it is!
Write the scene where Chizuru gets home after the island, closes her apartment door, touches her lips, and completely stops functioning.
While I'm writing this one please send me your requests.
