Chapter 29 first physical education class

It was the next day. All the students of the royal class were gathered at the training grounds outside the main building. It was a vast land that was flattened to be used as terrain for training and exercice.

There were two places you could train. Inside the main building of prism, which was the gigantic prism shaped building in the middle of Peia, where the training facilities were more specialized and more specific to each person. Or outside, where the wide training grounds was. You could do all kinds of exercise that requires a large space like running.

"Alright, listen here you." A loud gruff voice called out to all of them, the tone of the voice demanding attention. Every head turned towards the source of the voice. It was a tall, muscular man. He had dirty blonde hair and a roughly trimmed beard that left a few cuts on his chin. "I am, Reinhardt. And from today going forward. I will be your physical education teacher."

The students slowly turned to stare at each other, unsure of how to respond. The man looked like he deserved the position of physical education professor. His muscles bulged through his clothes. They felt that with a simple move he could rip his shirt up with just the density of his muscles.

"We'll start today with brief exercises. Give me seven laps around the terrain." Reinhardt swiped his hand at them. The students remained still. He furrowed his brows at them. "What are you waiting for?" He spoke, his tone dripping with annoyance at their insubordination.

The students turned towards one another. "He can't be serious..."

"He doesn't expect us to run that big of a distance does he?" They were all reluctant to believe Reinhardt's command. "No, he has to be joking."

Suddenly, out of the crowd of students, walked out a brown haired girl with auburn curly hair and brown, hazel nut eyes. It was Rica. She faced the teacher. "Sir. You can't expect us to actually finish running such a distance... There are some of us here who aren't focused on combat like others. Me as an example sir." She spoke, her tone respectful, even and undisturbed.

Reinhardt's gaze washed over them and they all could feel his powerful aura. It was like that of an unshakable mountain. "I see..." He turned around, looking over the terrain. "Now that I look at it. This terrain is pretty big isn't it?" I overestimated them. He shook his head.

These kids aren't like the special division. He glanced back at them. "Three laps are enough." Reinhardt narrowed his eyes at them. "Or you can't do that either?" He scowled.

The students were too afraid of the aura he held to produce a response. They started moving, running at the professor's command. The sound of their feet against the ground resounded in unison as they all ran.

A few minutes later. Most of them were tired, huffing and puffing. They were on the last lap, the third one and they were half way into finishing it. Arron had no problem at all. He'd always been confident in his stamina. He's actually been chatting with Amanda the whole time. The princess, having been specially training herself and focusing on stamina, was not having much trouble either.

However, the ones who were not focused on physical prowess were having trouble. It was hell for them. They breathed heavily, exhaustion evident in their expressions. One of them was anastasia, she had that cold look even as she gasped for breath. Lilea, the artificer, was breathing heavily as well, her hands on her knees as she took air in greedily.

Regina was humming a tune to herself as she ran. She was shoulder to shoulder with Adam, who had an annoyed look on his face. "Why are you following me?" He spoke, without even sparing her a glance.

Regina feigned ignorance. "Dunno what you're talkin' 'bout~" She whistled in the air as she ran. Adam let out a sigh as he picked up his pace. Regina simply followed suit, matching her pace to his.

By the way, she's got really great stamina... We ran almost three laps around the terrain yet she's not even sweating. He stole a glance at her. But, no matter how sneakily he tried to do it, Regina noticed. She seemed to light up for a moment as she realized he was glancing at her. He, however, tore his gaze from her and continued running.

Regina pouted in annoyance as she ran forward as well. "You're definitely following me." Adam spoke, his eyes fixed forward. Regina feigned innocence once more. "I'm not sure what you're talking about." She grinned as she spoke. She loved messing with people like him, it made it all the more fun.

Staring at the two of them, was a brown haired girl, her hazel nut eyes peering at them. It was Rica. She was faring pretty well with the laps. She was sweating and she had to admit that she was tired. While she didn't specialize in physical prowess, she still didn't completely disregard it. She shook her head disapprovingly. She'll be in for a surprise...

She shifted her gaze elsewhere as she ran. She threw a glance over at two individuals who were happily chatting despite their predicament. It was quite strange really. Why are they so close with each other when barely even know each other? It's still the second day of school. She furrowed her brows.

The princess was her friend. They were already familiar with each other since Rica had previously visited the royal palace a few times. They hung out in the royal garden, drank some tea, ate some snacks and talked. They were pretty brief friends though. But, now that they were studying together, Rica and her were going to be good friends.

She invited the princess out for a quick outing to eat and explore the city. The princess accepted and they went out. But the strange part was that Arron, the commoner boy and the only commoner in the royal class joined them on this outing. He did only eat food and left right after. Is there something going on between those two? Did they know each other before the academy?

She pondered over it for a few moments but she didn't get to finish her trail of thoughts as a blue streak zipped past her. Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the person who overtook her. It was Evelyn, the duke's daughter, also someone who she met up with often in the royal palace. Evelyn ran, ignoring any and all stares that she got.

The blue haired girl took the lead of the students. Running forward. The final lap was almost done, and she was going to be first to finish it. There was a single drop of sweat falling down her chin.

She clenched her jaw. I can't let anyone overtake me again. Evelyn's feet kicked off the floor and she reached the end of the lap easily. She only took a single moment to catch her breath before she straitened her back, taking on a noble posture. She had her hair tied in a pony tail, despite her state, she still emanated grace.

It took a few minutes, but the rest of the students reached her and several of them dropped onto the floor, breathing heavily. It was clear most of them were exhausted. But there were those that stood without problem. The instructor clapped his hands, drawing the attention of everyone towards him.

"Alright. I understand now." He put his hand on his chin, rubbing as a contemplative look crossed his face. "I will divide you all into two." He said, holding up two fingers. "One for those who don't specialize in physical prowess. And the other is for those who's main focus is the body."

"All of those that are on the ground will continue doing three laps of running every physical education class." Reinhardt spoke calmly as he looked over those who were on the ground. His words drew out a collecting groan from all of them.

"Do we really have to do it? We're not even going to fight in hand to hand... We specialize in ranged battles!" A boy with brown-beige hair spoke up with a groan following his words suite.

A white haired girl that had her hair tied into pony tails caught her breath quietly, it was Lilea.. She tilted her head upwards, sweat dripping down her cheeks. She met the gaze of the professor, without words, she conveyed her unwillingness to go along with this routine. She was disinterested in going through this training regiment all the time...

She wanted more time to focus on her magi-tech. But... if this was what she had to go through to remain in Prism and continue develpoing her devices. Then, she was willing to do it.

Rica didn't have a problem with the arangement. If that was all, she could finish three laps everytime no problem.

"My words are final." Reinhardt stomped his foot onto the ground, causing it to break slightly. His eyes glazed over them, scrutinizing and searching. "Just because you don't specialize in close quarters combat, does not mean you need to slack off on your physical training." He scowled. "You're Prism students. And not only that, you're in the royal class. Do not bring shame to our academy by disregarding your body's state."

His words carried an air of finality to them. As if nothing would change his decision. The students knew for certain that whatever they said wasn't going to change his mind. It's either they accept the training regiment as is or risk getting penalty points.

"Any objections?" He surveyed them with his eyes. They begrdgingly remained silent and turned their gazes elsewhere.

"Good. Now for the next activity..." He glanced back at the many arenas in the terrain. There were over 20 arenas there, all with grey-ish white tiles. They were there to be used as combat arenas to host one versus one duels or duels of other types. "You will be having duels. Pick a partner if you so choose." He spoke as he turned his gaze back towards them. "All of you will participate so it's better that you get a partner now."

"Weapons will be provided. Each arena has a weapon rack right next to them. Pick what you want." Reinhardt spoke as he proceeded to moved towards the arenas. expecting them to follow, which they did.
