Before he could choose who he wanted to introduce himself to first, he was approached by someone. It was the blue-haired girl, with the charming smile. This unexpected action startled him slightly.
"Oh, hello there. I hope I didn't startle you. My name is Sayaka Maizono, I'm the ultimate pop sensation! Me and my group have made tons of cool music! But enough about me, tell me all about you!" She smiled at him.
"W-Well... My name is Ryota Mitarai, I'm the Ultimate Animator. I think I've heard of you before; your music must be quite good..." He said back.
"You're too kind, really. But did I hear you right? You're an animator? Like you make anime?" She seemed amazed at this possibility "That is so awesome! I love anime! I'm sure you make the best ones if you're in this school! I could totally talk to you about anime for days!"
Ryota seemed quite happy about her interest in his work. "That... would be amazing! Maybe we can meet up again another day. Either way, it was great talking to you. I look forward to our time here together!" Sayaka gave a soft smile and waved goodbye to him.
While looking for another cssmate to meet, he was so intimidated by the taller students that he inadvertently ran into one of the smaller ones.
"Gah!" they cried out.
Ryota looked to see the small girl in the green uniform from earlier.
"A-ah! I'm so sorry! I should've been looking where I was going. Are you ok? Are you hurt?" He said frantically, fearing he may have harmed this girl.
"N-no... I'm fine..." she replied, meekly. "Um... My name is Chihiro Fujisaki, I'm the Ultimate Programmer... You don't have to tell me your title if you don't want to..." she said looking away from him.
"I mean, it's the least I could do... My name is Ryota Mitarai and I'm the Ultimate animator. I hope that was a good enough..." he said.
"Oh, do you make... anime?" she responded curiously.
"Yeah, that's exactly it! Heh, I guess that doesn't really compare to your coding abilities though..." he said.
"N-no, that's wrong." she responded "Your talent is just as good... if not better than mine. And I l-like anime. I really love the cute characters and the neat stories. So, if you would... please share some of your anime with me." she said.
Her mannerisms reminded him of a bunny, for some reason he found that endearing. "I will. I definitely will Chihiro!" He and Chihiro parted ways as he sought another student to introduce himself to.
He chose to introduce himself to the nurse girl next. She appeared fairly normal and calm compared to some of the others and was standing apart from them. He walked up to her "H-hey, my name is Ryota, I'm the Ultimate Animator. I assume you're a nurse?"
"Y-yes, that's right... my name is Mikan Tsumiki, and I really hope we can get along..." she said nervously.
"Yeah, I do too. So, what kinds of things do you usually do, being a nurse must be hard work, having to help all kinds of sick and injured people..." He asked her.
"W-Well, I try to be of service to others however I can. I just want to see them happy. Sometimes it hurts, like when they yell mean things at me or hit me or throw things at me... but that's just a sacrifice I have to make! I just want others to be satisfied after I finish treating them..."
She says this with a bright smile on her face, Ryota tries his best not to look completely shocked at her attitude towards this.
"I-Is something wrong" she asked, apparently he didn't try hard enough.
"D-Did I do s-something wrong? I'm sorry! Do you want to hurt me? Should I take my clothes off? What will make you happy?" She was now utterly distraught over the fear that she has somehow upset Ryota.
"N-No! You don't need to do any of that... I-I'm happy with how you were before. I just didn't expect you to act so blunt when discussing your job... It's not f-fair what they do to you!" He replied in an attempt to soothe her.
She eventually calmed down slightly "Well as long as you're happy... then I guess it's alright!" her smile had returned to her face.
"Yeah... just stay safe, ok?" He said as he walked away from her, the details of their conversation still fresh in his mind. "Is she really going to be, ok?" he thought to himself.
Despite the rather troubling information he had just learned, Ryota found this to be easier than he originally thought. He was actually smiling at the prospect of meeting another new friend, hopefully one that was a little more joyful than Mikan. Feeling good enough to walk up to someone else again, he decided on the smaller girl with the pig tails and kimono. Surely someone so immersed in Japanese culture would be ecstatic to learn about his talent.
"Hey, my name is Ryota Mitarai! I'm the ultimate animator, pleased to meet you!" He said full of spirit.
"Pfft, animator? What, like you make anime? What a stupid talent, I can believe they let you in here..." the girl remarked with a look of disapproval on her face, shattering Ryota's newfound confidence
"Y-Yeah... Animator. I-I thought you would understand its importance. You have that kimono on, surely you know about the culture of Japan and anime's importance to it?"
"Hah! As If! I know all about Japanese culture, I am the one and only Ultimate Traditional Dancer, Hiyoko Saionji, after all! And I know that anime is only for kids and those weird otaku guys. Plus, you don't even look like you make good anime, you're all pale and tired looking, you probably stay up all night binging anime instead of actually making it!" She ughed to herself.
"You just don't get it!" Ryota said, rather aggressively for himself "Anime can help people and inspire them to feel hope! It is one of the most meaningful and important pieces of media in existence! How can you say you know Japanese culture when you can't even recognize that? Are you really that... that... Ignorant?" Ryota's anger had made him snap. He now looked at Hiyoko, hoping that she would simply quiet down or admit her defeat in the argument. However, this was Hiyoko...
