Chapter 006: Silver Lexus LS
Chu Zui didn't respond, and the existence of Xi Xi was originally something that couldn't be exposed to the light. At least in the eyes of the two elderly members of the Chu family, even if they cut off relations, one of the conditions attached to the lawyer's letter back then was that this child's existence must not be known by anyone during their lifetime.
Because they are concerned about their reputation! Because of their concern for reputation, they can abandon their own daughter and don't want their own grandson!
Luckily, the few close friends who were with me in the UK at that time were all from large aristocratic families and held British nationality, so my mother couldn't touch them, otherwise those sisters would have disappeared long ago.
A little drunk?
She just stared at the coffee in her cup, paused there in a daze and didn't speak. Xǔ Zhú Yù's grip on her hand tightened: "No matter what happens, as long as you're willing to go back, your aunt will definitely welcome you with open arms. Blood ties aren't something that can be completely severed by a lawyer's letter."
"Steamed fish." Chu Zui slightly pulled her hand out of his, raised her bright and clear eyes, saw him because of her decade-long unchanged nickname, suddenly dropped three black lines on his forehead. She couldn't help but smile: "I know it's my dad who asked you to find me, he's not as ruthless as my mom, but things aren't as easy as you think, and if one day you knew all the reasons..."
The conversation suddenly stopped, and Chu Zui's gaze was drawn to a silver Lexus LS speeding by outside the window. The car sped quickly, with its window half open, and the driver flashed by, leaving an indelible mark in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Seeing her staring blankly at a corner of the road outside the window, the coffee cup in her hand tilted, and she didn't even notice that the coffee was about to spill. He quickly got up and walked around to her side, grasping her wrist and leaning down to look into her suddenly dazed eyes: "Xiao Zui?"
"No, nothing." Chu Zui came back to himself, hastily putting down the coffee cup, and didn't notice the Steamed Fish standing very close beside him. He only hesitated with his gaze towards the road where the silver Lexus LS was no longer there, his breathing slightly hurried.
What's going on?
Am I wrong again?
"Are you feeling unwell?" Xǔ Zhúyù didn't wait for her response, and directly called the waiter to pay the bill. He then picked up the coat that was on the back of her chair and put it over his arm, helping her stand up: "Let's go, I'll send you home."
On the way back, Xu Zhuyu's car was playing a loop of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel", the quiet and warm melody, the intoxicating vocals, made Chu Zui slowly put down the heart he had just raised, silently gazing out at the pedestrians holding umbrellas outside the window: "It's raining."
The car suddenly turned a corner, and Xu Zhuyu didn't say anything until the car stopped 500 meters away from her apartment, when Chu Zui told him to stop.
"What's a decent place to stay around here?" Xǔ Zhúyù rolled down the window and took a look outside, cold rain instantly blew in, and the cool breeze also passed through their clothes.
Chu Zui didn't hesitate, hastily putting on her outer garment: "The entrance to the compound where I live is very narrow, I reckon your car won't be able to get in either. I'll just walk a few steps and I'll be there, you can go back now, don't bother about me."
"It's raining outside!" He grabbed her wrist: "I have an umbrella in my car, you..."
"It's okay, we're almost there." Chu Zui gently shook off his hand, turned around and smiled politely at him: "Thanks for today, bye."
"Tipsy." Xǔ Zhú Yù seemed to want to say something else, but Chǔ Zuì had already opened the car door and rushed into the rain, without looking back.
The icy rain and biting wind often made people suddenly sober, Chu Zui didn't look back at the car behind her, nor did she know if Xu Zhuyu had left, all she knew was that she couldn't turn back, just like the decision she made in a private hospital in England two years ago.
She can't turn back now.
