Chapter 8: A Woeful Reunion (2)
She sat on the ground in disarray, her head hung low, turning around to block the scattered photos and frames with her body, when suddenly a warmth spread across her arm as someone gently grasped it.
"Miss, are you hurt? Let me help you up." He Yan's voice was close to her ear.
Suddenly, she turned around, her long hair scattered behind her shoulders tangled around her slender body, her clear eyes staring blankly at him.
In that instant, a faint, eerie glow flashed across He Yi's sunken eyes. The astonishment lasted only for an instant before disappearing, as if he had never known she was at the Shang's. But now, he knew, yet seemed like a stranger, with a humble, low smile, and an air of indifference, as if they had never met before. He gently grasped her arm, which was cut by shards, and slightly exerted force to help her stand up.
Chu Zui stood up passively, and at the moment he reluctantly let go of his hand, he stumbled slightly, raised his other hand to cover the spot on his arm that had just been grasped by him, and felt a faint burning sensation.
"Thank you......" She lowered her head, for a moment, unsure of what to say in such a situation and reunion.
In the world she and He Yancen were in, she was his little princess he held in the palm of his hand, doted on, spoiled, yet also proud. In front of him, Chu Zui had never been so disheveled before.
But now, after three years of twists and turns, the roles on this world's stage have unknowingly been exchanged, his highness above all, and her current insignificance and dishevelment.
There was also He Fan's gaze, as if looking at a stranger, cold, indifferent and uncaring.
"Chu Jie! How are you?" Lin Lin rushed into the elevator, seeing the messy scene and blood on her arm, while catching a glimpse of He Zong's palm with some crimson stains, she hastily nodded respectfully: "He Zong."
He Yan's icy gaze shifted away from Chu Zui, and he gave Lin Lin a light glance. His magnetic voice was cold and distant: "There's a hospital nearby, take her there to get bandaged."
"Oh, okay." Linlin nodded and supported Chu Zui who was standing there in a daze, shaking her shoulders: "Sister Chu, quickly thank General He, I'll accompany you to the hospital."
Chu Zui came back to her senses, looked up at the unfamiliar color in He Yanci's eyes, took a deep breath, and knew that she had just lost her composure due to excessive surprise. Just as she was about to speak, he nonchalantly took the wet towel handed over by someone beside him and wiped away the bloodstains on his hand: "She already thanked you earlier, no need to say anything more."
After he finished speaking, he threw the wet wipe into the trash can next to the elevator and turned around to walk towards the special elevator on the opposite side, and others followed him.
Chu Zui was pulled out of the elevator by Lin Lin, but suddenly rushed back in. In a hurry, she put the scattered pieces and those photos with cute smiling faces back into the box. As Lin Lin grabbed the box from her and hugged it, Chu Zui stood up, perhaps unintentionally glancing over at the figure that had already walked into the elevator.
He didn't turn around or look at her, as if their reunion after three years was just a calm and peaceful first encounter.
