Drawing upon every ounce of strength she had left, she pushed deeper into the heart of the ancient forest. Each step felt like an arduous journey as the weight of fatigue bore down upon her. The jungle's symphony surrounded her, a chorus of rustling leaves and distant calls that both comforted and unnerved.
Her eyes scanned the surroundings, her gaze shifting from the towering trees to the intricate underbrush below. It was a realm teeming with life, a world of hidden wonders and potential dangers. She inched forward, her body guided by instinct and an unyielding will to survive.
The scents of the forest mingled around her, a tapestry of earthy richness and the musk of creatures that called this pce home. Her ears perked at the faint rustling of leaves nearby, and her heart quickened as her gaze fixed on a small group of creatures moving amongst the foliage.
Darting from leaf to leaf were a collection of diminutive creatures, their forms a blur of motion. They were swift, elusive, and just the right size to sate her hunger. Her stomach growled, a reminder of her weakened state and the necessity of sustenance.
She pressed on, her steps careful and calcuted as she stalked her prey. The creatures, small and wary, seemed to sense her presence, their movements growing skittish. She crouched low, her every movement deliberate as she inched closer, her fingers tensed in anticipation.
Finally, her moment came. With a swift, controlled motion, she lunged, her fingers closing around one of the creatures. It was quick, almost instinctive, and the creature's struggles were short-lived. Holding it gently but firmly, she brought it close to her, her heart pounding with a mixture of gratitude and remorse, and she couldn't help but regard the strange creature she had never seen before on earth. It was a small cat-sized lizard with red and green colors that has feathered, winged forelimbs and a long tail.
Returning to her shelter, the hollow amidst the canopy, she prepared the small creature for consumption. The process was slow going, cking any tools to carve it. She had to bite the flesh of the things neck and jerk her head to tear the flesh. She groaned in disgust, feeling blood pool in her mouth.
But she had no choice. With civilization nowhere to be seen, no tools or fire, she had to eat the lizard raw.
She suppressed the urge to gag and vomit. It was this or starve.
After finishing her meal she was startled by a fsh of blue light filling her eyes.
The Feral Survival System had made itself known.
