Chapter 66 Allen was far too ruthless

On the viewing platform, Hawke stared at the crystal mirrors, watching his son Marius beaten to the point of barely clinging to life. He was shaking with rage, his eyes filled with overwhelming fury.

Yet he knew perfectly well that Allen's actions had not broken any rules. The resource battle itself allowed apprentices to fight each other.

Because of this, no matter how furious he was, he could only force himself to suppress it and put on a calm and indifferent appearance.

At the same time, Berton was also staring at the crystal mirrors that reflected Allen's figure. His hands trembled slightly as he clenched his fists in excitement.

Without talent taken to the absolute extreme, without extraordinary comprehension, this would have been impossible.

Thinking of this, Berton could not help but let out a bitter laugh.

"That brat. So he was pretending to be stupid in front of me all this time."

"Always acting like he did not care about anything, yet secretly reaching this level. Such a troublesome little fellow."

Unable to contain his excitement any longer, he stood up at once and strode quickly toward the seating area where the academy elders were, asking loudly,

"Horn. The letter of recommendation. The one Augustine gave to Allen back then. Where is it?"

Only now did he suddenly remember that when Allen transferred into Luminara Magic Academy, the former headmaster Augustine had given him a letter of recommendation.

Thinking about it now, Augustine must have already known how terrifying Allen's talent was when he wrote that letter.

Horn looked conflicted. After hesitating for a long while, he finally spoke slowly.

"Headmaster Berton, that letter of recommendation is in the storage room."

At the time, he had also thought that Allen was just an ordinary apprentice and not worth special attention, so he casually put the letter into storage.

Berton urged impatiently,"Go get it. I want to see it right now."

"Yes, Headmaster Berton." Horn did not dare delay for even a moment and hurriedly nodded.

He immediately turned around and quickly left the viewing platform, racing toward Luminara Magic Academy.

  ...

Meanwhile, on the resource battlefield of the Shadow Mountains.

After thoroughly teaching Marius a lesson, Allen looked at him lying on the ground without the slightest ability to resist. The anger in his heart had mostly dissipated, and he completely lost interest in him.

Not far away, Hart watched Allen stand up for him and his sister and mercilessly punish Marius, who had bullied them. He could no longer hold back, and tears streamed down his face.

He had never imagined that someone would be willing to offend Marius and even stand against an Archmage for the sake of two apprentices of ordinary origin with no background.

Camilla supported her brother, who was covered in injuries and still somewhat weak, and slowly walked up to Allen. The siblings exchanged a glance.

Then they bowed deeply to Allen. Camilla spoke first,

"Thank you for helping us. This life saving grace is something my brother and I will never forget."

As she spoke, she pulled her brother along and took out all the resources they had brought with them when entering the resource battlefield from their storage pouch.

"Allen, these are just a small token from the two of us. They are nothing valuable. If you do not mind, please accept them. Consider it a bit of repayment from us."

Allen looked at the resources in their hands, then at their sincere and grateful expressions, and could not help but smile.

"There is no need. It was just a small effort. I did not act for the sake of these resources."

In his view, teaching Marius a lesson was simply because he could not tolerate his arrogance and bullying of the weak. There was no need for them to repay him with resources.

Hearing this, both Hart and Camilla were at a loss, their faces showing awkward expressions.

They could tell that Allen truly did not care about these resources, but after receiving such a life saving favor, they simply could not feel at ease without doing something in return.

Hart forced himself to straighten up and looked at Allen as he said,

"Allen, since that is the case, please allow my sister and me to repay this great kindness in the future."

"No matter what you ask of us later, as long as it is within our power, we will obey even at the cost of our lives."

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Seeing how resolute the siblings were, Allen secretly smiled bitterly. He had truly only helped on a whim, yet they were this persistent.

"All right, Hart, Camilla," Allen said helplessly."We can talk about it if there is a chance in the future. You do not need to keep it on your minds."

Hearing Allen agree, smiles finally appeared on the faces of the siblings.

Allen then turned to Ebel and the others, asking them one by one whether they had seen any sign of Kaelor.

But whether it was Ebel, collapsed at the bottom of the pit, or the four guards huddled off to the side, they all shook their heads instinctively.

"Allen, we have never seen Kaelor. We do not know where he is."

Either they truly had not seen him, or they were intimidated by Kaelor's background and dared not speak lightly. In either case, none of them could provide Allen with any useful clues.

Seeing that the questioning led nowhere, Allen did not press the matter further. Continuing would only waste time, so he decided to search for Kaelor himself.

The Shadow Mountains resource battlefield was vast beyond comparison. Allen's figure flashed as he moved at high speed, constantly searching for Kaelor's whereabouts.

Even so, after an entire day of nonstop movement, he had only covered about one third of the battlefield.

Along the way, Allen encountered several noble youths who were on good terms with Kaelor.

Pampered in their daily lives and relying on their family power, they were arrogant and domineering within the academy. Like Kaelor, they had come to the resource battle to seize resources.

Allen showed no mercy to anyone. Whoever stood close to Kaelor received no leniency at all. The moment he met them, he struck without hesitation, leaving no time for the other party to react.

Within a single day, every noble youth connected to Kaelor whom Allen encountered met the same fate. Not one escaped.

Each time, Allen would first deal with the guards around them. Even Archmages were utterly powerless before him.

Only after that would he beat those arrogant noble youths until they were barely recognizable, forcing them to suffer in full.

On the viewing platform, as everyone watched Allen sweep through the battlefield in the crystal mirrors, the crowd erupted completely.

"Allen is just crushing everything in his path!"

"This is clearly him establishing authority. No matter who the opponent is or what background they have, as long as they are connected to Kaelor, they get beaten. No exceptions!"

"Exactly. After this battle, no one will dare underestimate Allen again."

"But I am really curious. Why is Allen so determined to find Kaelor? What kind of grudge do they have?"

"Who knows. Maybe Kaelor himself will get beaten next."

"My heavens. Kaelor is the Governor's son, with an extremely powerful background. If even he gets beaten by Allen, that would be truly spectacular."

"What is there to fear? Allen is Headmaster Berton's apprentice. Our Headmaster's magic rank is no worse than the Governor's."

"That's right. If Allen loses, then there is nothing to say. But if he wins and the Governor dares to bully him using his status, the Headmaster will definitely not stand by."

"When the time comes, even the Governor will have to give the Headmaster some face."

Listening to the surrounding discussions, several noble lords from Aetherlan City looked extremely grim.

The ones being beaten by Allen were their sons, yet they could only watch helplessly.

They knew very well that Luminara Magic Academy's status in Aetherlan City was in no way inferior to that of the Governor's residence.

Headmaster Berton's strength and prestige were even more far beyond theirs.

The noble lords cautiously glanced at Berton, who sat in the main seat. At this moment, he appeared as though he had not heard any of the surrounding discussions at all.

Yet they all knew clearly that this seemingly calm Headmaster was famous for being petty and vindictive.

Anyone who offended him had never met a good end.

They thought to themselves that if it were apprentices of other academy elders beating their sons on the battlefield, they would have already exploded in anger.

But when facing Berton, a man of profound magic who was extremely protective and meticulous in settling scores, they truly did not dare.

They could only force down the rage in their hearts, daring to be angry but not daring to speak.

At this moment, Berton seemed to sense the intense and wary gazes of the noble lords. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly as he said with a faint smile,

"My apprentice is good in every way. High talent, strong strength. The only problem is that his temper is a bit hot, and he does not know how to hold back."

As he spoke, he paused briefly, his gaze once more settling on the noble lords.

"You would not mind, would you?"

At these words, the noble lords stiffened all over. They hurriedly put away their grim expressions and forced flattering smiles.

"Headmaster Berton, what are you saying?"

"Those little brats of ours have been spoiled by us. They are arrogant, unruly, and disrespectful of rules. They deserved a good lesson long ago."

"For Allen to discipline them is their good fortune. As long as they are not beaten to death, feel free to beat them hard."

"Please rest assured, we absolutely do not mind. Do not hold back at all."

A satisfied smile appeared on Berton's face, and he slowly nodded.

Headmaster Berton watched Allen as he mercilessly beat a noble youth, thinking to himself, This apprentice of mine is already extremely powerful, with talent unmatched by anyone, yet he still lacks decisiveness.

Within Luminara Magic Academy, it is fine. With the academy protecting him, even if he holds back out of kindness, there will be no real trouble.

But in the outside world, where dangers lurk everywhere and powerful individuals gather, once he has taken action to intimidate an opponent, he cannot afford to hold back.

If he does not eliminate the threat completely and crush the opponent's will to retaliate, he will only be leaving endless trouble for himself, and revenge is inevitable in the future.

Once this resource battle is over, it will be necessary to have a proper talk with Allen and teach him some survival rules.

This is a savage world where the strong prey on the weak, and only the fittest survive. Being too kind or holding back often leads one into a dead end.

In the Shadow Mountains resource battlefield, Allen once again cleanly and efficiently dealt with a team of noble youths, shattering the guards around them.

By now, the sky was gradually darkening, yet Allen had still found no sign of Kaelor.

He glanced up at the dim sky and, without any hesitation, flashed forward, quickly pushing deeper into the battlefield.

At the same time, several noble youths who had previously been beaten by Allen were helping each other along, fleeing in a pitiful state deeper into the battlefield.

Allen was far too ruthless. His merciless beatings had left all of them with psychological scars.

No matter what threats they made or how they flaunted their family backgrounds, Allen remained unmoved. When it was time to strike, he struck without restraint, leaving them completely powerless to resist.

Their only thought was to put as much distance between themselves and Allen as possible.

In a clearing deep within the Shadow Mountains, Kaelor sat on a flat stone, watching the people around him fighting and clashing with each other.

"Elliot, you really need to step it up," Kaelor said, a teasing smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

"If you do not give it your all, if you do not play your trump card, this Elemental Fruit will end up in Ulysses' hands. By then, you will have to walk away empty-handed."

Kaelor watched as Elliot and Ulysses desperately struggled over the Elemental Fruit, and a trace of amusement appeared on his face.
