Chapter 2: Trouble Finds the Lazy Genius
The next morning, Lin Xian stretched zily in his little wooden room.
The sun had barely risen, and the courtyard outside was already alive with noise.
Disciples were practicing sword swings, running ps, or meditating under trees.
Some poor kid was even dragging a giant log uphill while crying.
“Early morning training?” Lin Xian muttered, scratching his head. “No thanks.”
He flopped back into bed.
BANG!
The door smmed open.
A chubby boy with a round face and tiny fists stormed in. His name tag said:
[Chen Bao – Cloudpetal Outer Disciple – Self-procimed Boss]
“You! Lin Xian, right?!” Chen Bao puffed out his chest. “Newcomers have to pay protection fees! Hand over 5 spirit stones or… or… I’ll have to teach you a lesson!”
Lin Xian blinked sleepily. “Five spirit stones? Are you trying to rob me or feed a family of chickens?”
Chen Bao’s face turned purple.
“No smart talk! Hand it over!”
Without getting out of bed, Lin Xian grabbed a pillow and lightly threw it at him.
Thump.
The chubby boy crashed into the wall like a stunned dumpling.
“…Oops,” Lin Xian said, blinking innocently. “Forgot to hold back.”
Fifteen Minutes Later…
Rumors spread like wildfire.
“Did you hear? The new kid sent Chen Bao flying with a pillow!”
“A pillow!”
“Even Elder Hao uses a sword and he barely wins fights!”
“Is Lin Xian secretly an old monster?”
By noon, Lin Xian was famous across the entire outer sect.
Unfortunately, fame came with… problems.
That Afternoon…
Elder Hao, the sleepy old man in charge of the outer court, called Lin Xian over.
“You… boy,” Elder Hao said, yawning mid-sentence. “You’re… strong. Too strong. Outer disciples shouldn’t beat each other like that.”
Lin Xian csped his fists respectfully. “Elder Hao, I was defending myself.”
“Good… good,” Elder Hao mumbled. He scratched his head. “Still… since you’re… strong, why don’t you… represent us… in the Annual Sect Games?”
Lin Xian raised an eyebrow.
“Sect Games?”
Elder Hao nodded, eyes half-closed. “Winner gets… a spirit beast egg. Valuable… very valuable.”
A spirit beast, huh?
Lin Xian smirked.
In his past life, he once rode a three-headed golden dragon just for fun. Getting a little beast egg now? Piece of cake.
“Sure,” he said. “Why not?”
Later That Night…
As Lin Xian walked back to his room, a faint sound caught his ear.
Mew~
Under a bush nearby, a tiny creature peeked out.
It looked like a kitten, but its fur shimmered like stardust, and its eyes glowed silver.
Lin Xian crouched down.
“You lost, little guy?” he whispered.
The kitten yawned, leapt onto his shoulder, and curled up instantly, purring.
[New Companion Acquired: Void Tiger Cub!]
Special Ability:
The zier it gets, the stronger it becomes.
Lin Xian’s grin widened.
“This… is destiny.”
He looked up at the night sky, full of twinkling stars.
“Alright, new life. New beast. New fun. Let’s see how far we can go this time.”
The stars above seemed to wink at him.
Tomorrow?
Tomorrow, the real fun would begin.
