Hi. First and foremost, thanks to everyone who had been reading this story so far. I hope you have found it enjoyable.
I wanted to state one thing. This story can be found on Wattpad, AO3, and RoyalRoad. These are the websites where I post.
I would like to kindly ask a small favour from anyone. If you know of, and if you use any other websites to read your fanfiction, please check for this story, and notify me if you find it. Also, if reporting is an option on that website, I would appreciate it if you took the time to do that as well.
The reason I'm even pointing this out is that someone on AO3 has claimed that they've ran my story through AI cheker and that it's showing around 60-70% likelihood of my story being AI generated. This is not an issue for me in and off itself, and I will talk about AI later on. However, what strikes me as uncomfortable is that the said person has asked, twice already, to provide proof of my writing process.
I find multiple things about this whole situation strange.
First and foremost, honestly, I think it's strange that anyone would run a fanfic through AI checker. That might be because I'd never think to do that. However, with all the AI in art discourse going on in recent times, I can kind of see someone doing that.
* To be fair, I haven't had the time to check the validity of their claims and run my own chapters through an AI check to make sure. Probably because I didn't use Ai, but hey, I will do that tomorrow. Frankly, english is not my first language, and I've read that Ai checkers are a bit suspicious of non-native speaker, so who knows, it might be possible.
Anyways, what really makes me uncomfortable in this whole ordeal is that this person has asked for proof of my writing process twice already.
I've adressed their first comment [on AO3] with a lenghty explanation, and they never responded. They did, however, comment on the very next chapter I released, within a few minutes of the release. As the comments are under 2 different guest aliases, I'm thinking it might be a bot as well.
Now, the person has asked for screenshot proof of my writing process outline and/or chapters.
In my responses, I have noted that pictures of those don't prove anything.
I write my fanfic on wattpad (as stated in those comments), since it has my favourite interface and I find it easiest. The outline does not exist in written form, since I am a pantser. I could post a list of chapters in a screenshot, but that doesn't prove anything, in my humble opinion. On wattpad, it's easy to create emtpy chapters and call it "proof".
Even posting screenshots of unreleased chapters doesn't prove anything, as no one can guarantee they have been written by a human and not AI.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Therefore, I think someone might be trying to bait me into posting unreleased chapters so they can post them on some other site before I update them, claiming this story to be their own.
This is not to call anyone out, someone might just as well be weary of AI generated content, but I am also weary of intellectual property theft (not that this fanfic resembles an intellectual property, lol).
Anyways, if you can, please check and notify me if this fanfic has been posted on any website that is not Wattpad, AO3 or RoyalRoad.
On to the next thing. AI.
Eh, where do I even start. It's a broad topic.
Let's state this first - I have used AI in relation to my stories. My fanfic "Pokemon School Days: Giratina Risimg" includes character designs [only on Wattpad vesrion of the story] that have been generated by ai, since I can't draw, and I'm too broke to commision anyone. In that one instance, I have put a disclaimer that the "art" has been generated by ai.
*Since all of my works are free to read, and I don't earn money, I don't think creating characters hurts any artist. For the most part I did it for myself. I I had earned actual money fron writing that story, I'd definitely commision a human to design my characters, since, well, I'd have the money to do that, and a human would certainly do a better job (for real, AI sexualising minors has made me hate humanity...).
Anyways, other than that, I've never used AI to write, edit, or even just help write or edit any of my released works.
I write songs as well, and I have used AI to review them for me, so I can find what to improve. I have never done this for even a chapter of any fanfic I have written (I have no patience to read through a generic bare-bone analysis).
I have asked ai to rewrite my songs for me, and all that it gave me was hollow, generic bullshit that lacked any style, so yeah, no, I am not letting AI write/rewrite anything for me ever again.
I have used AI in order to "review" my other fanfic [Pokemon School Days: Giratina Rising]. Basically, I asked ChatGPT which of the characters would fare best in relity TV shows and how would they do in Eurovision Song Contest. Yeah. That's how I use AI.
* I get that this might come across as a subtle way to promote my other work, however, please DO NOT read my other fic. The chapters are extremely long, and it's in dire need of a HEAVY edit, and I am ashamed that people have laid their eyes upon it. Once I'm through with editing it, I WILL shamelessly plug it, don't worry.
Anyways, all of that said - this story has not been written by AI, and it is not AI assisted. I do not exclude the possibility of using AI in the future, I do think it can be used as a tool to make stories better, however, as of right now I have not used it in relation to this story in any way. If I ever do use AI in this story, I will add necessary tags, and will put up a disclaimer.
As for anyone else who might be suspicious of this, as of right now, I don't see a way to prove thid has been written by a human (me) other than recording myself type out a chapter.
I have 16 chapters written already, and even if I were to privately send someone entire content of chapter 16, that still doesn't prove it was written by a human. It only leaves a gate open for someone to release the chapter before me and claim the work as their own.
Again, I have no intentions of calling anyone out, especially not without proof, but I am quite weary of this, as well as theft of personal information. (I doubt anyone can steal personal information from a screenshot, but hey, someone MIGHT try).
Anyways, again, please be on the lookout for this story in case it appears on any other websites. I might just be paranoid, but I might also be right.
And again, thank you all for reading the story thus far.
