"Okay now can we ask him how he survived?" Willow asked Arath.
We'd been traveling for about an hour following my head mare towards the dungeon. Of course all three of them were curious about the duel, I was just surprised they waited so long to ask.
"Yes you can. We are far enough away from anyone that we won't be overheard." Arath replied.
So that's why they didn't ask straight away.
"I am curious too Lazarus. That ability should have burnt you." Kayalett softly said. "Not that I want you to get hurt it's just.... How?"
I smiled at them all. "Honestly luck. I have a god skill called Limitless Primordial. I originally thought it allowed me to use my skills even if they were on cooldown but it also turned my resistance skills into immunity's. Too bad it's got such a long cooldown itself."
All three of the girls gave me wide eyed looks. Not unexpected I guess when you tell someone you could effectively survive anything.
"Can I get a skill like that?" Willow asked with just a touch of childlike wonder.
"No I don't...." I stopped myself, there was the Primordial option for both Arath and Willows csses under the evocation options. Maybe they could? "Ummm let's say no for now."
"For now?" Arath questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"For now." I replied back giving her a wink.
"Umm am I the only one concerned he has a god skill?" Kayalett mumbled.
I gave Willow and Arath a surprised look. I'd completely forgotten she didn't know. I haven't had much time to tell her all things considered but I sort of assumed everyone in my harem knew.
Arath was the one to save the day. "Kayalett I'm a padin. How many do you know of that are actually allowed to have a husband or wife?"
"None." The spider woman returned the start of understanding in her eyes. "Wait he's the one who activated your padin css."
It wasn't a question more a statement and my head mare gave her a nod.
"And you just casually let him go about without any care in the world? You even left him in my care. Arath what was I suppose to do if something happened I'm just a healer."
I scoffed a little louder than expected. "Kayalett I watched you turn invisible and string up an assassin. You are way more than 'just a healer' I'd say you're one of the strongest in our group right now."
"Really?"
All three of the girls seemed to be surprised by that.
"I mean yeah. This might actually help if we discuss this now. Willow what's your css and how many skills do you have?"
The brown centaur looked a bit put on the spot now that all the attention was on her.
"Well I'm an archer, nothing special in that regard and I don't currently have any skills that benefit my css. I used them all to increase my smithing skills when I made your weapon and Sabet forced me to put all my skill points before that into cleaning and cooking." Her voice trailed off with her sentence so I pced a hand on her fnk.
"And that was a wonderful choice on your part about the smithing and we'll we all know that idiots fate. Thank you." Trying to change the subject before Willow got too embarrassed. "What about you Arath?"
"Padin of course. I currently have a skill that summons a shield." She gave a demonstration by summoning the two handed kite shield I'd seen her use a few times. "And also have a small heal if I can touch someone as well as my armor." Again she summoned the blue pte armor I was familiar with.
"Both the shield and armor consume mana as they are hit until I run out and my armor can be pced on someone else but it doubles the mana it consumes that way. So I can be our front line tank for a bit but need to rest to gain it back. My heal however uses essence so if we get into a bad spot and I run out of mana I can heal myself through the attacks with that instead. Apart from that I have a few basic skills like faster running speed and the normal resistance one."
Not something I want her to experience but good to know. I was actually really excited about the armor ability because she'd used it on me before when we were dealing with the harpy and it had been pretty effective. It would also make her or someone else fundamentally invincible if we made her drink mana potions constantly.
"Kayalett what about yourself?"
The arachnid blushed. "I see why you said I'm the strongest. My css is Battle Cleric. It's a type of healer that can regain their essence by causing pain. I have many skills that help to both cause wounds and heal them."
"Can I have a more in depth description of your skills?" I asked wanting to form a complete picture of how our party could function. Having Kayalett be able to heal us more if we could get her to damage something was an interesting strategy as my usual pns were to keep the healer as far from combat as possible without hindering their job.
"Of course. I have a basic Heal that costs more essence the further away whoever I'm trying to heal is and a burst heal called Mend that is expensive to cast but gives a slight heal over time effect for a long duration, this one can be used at any range so long as I can see them."
Kayalett put her hand into her little storage dimension and brought out a potion. "I can substitute potions instead of healing if we end up going for a long while without rest but it's inefficient and expensive but also only restores health and mana. Essence potions are a little out of my skill set at the moment." She pced the potion back and gave a small smile. "My storage dimension is full at the moment but depending on how many of my potions we use I can carry some stuff on our way back."
"And any passive skills?"
"A few that increase my essence capacity and it's efficientcy, but my most useful one is called Diagnosis. It gives me the information about what ails someone so I may better treat it instead of just healing the conditions. As for other skills you've seen my invisibility, that's my highest skill at level 38. It helped me escape a lot of situations before I came to the centaur vilge, it uses mana so I have both same as Arath."
"You're going to have to expin the difference between mana and essence to me." I said trying to follow what they were saying.
"Of course. Mana is like a pool inside you that you slowly use to cast spells. The more spells you use the faster it depletes. You can refill this pool simply by waiting as it fills up at a fixed rate for everyone, unless you have skills that boost it's regeneration."
Got it. That's simir to what I'm use to.
"Essence is slightly different, we teach our young to think of it like air. It flows more freely than mana and is regained by eating food that is rich in essence itself, it is primarily used with healing skills."
Okay. Makes sense i think. Not quite what I expected but having two separate resources would make builds more unique the further into them you get and with there being no limit to the amount of skills you can get it's no wonder people like the Paragons are really strong.
Willow was just as interested in the expnation as me it seems as the mare tried to mouth the description quietly besides me.
"I think I understand. But just for crification you can stay invisible for as long as possible and it wouldn't effect the amount of healing you could do?"
"Correct." Kayalett seemed to be coming out of her she'll a bit when she was expining something. It was nice.
"Can you do both at the same time?" Willow asked.
Now that was something I wanted to know as well.
"No unfortunately." Kayalett sighed.
"That's fine." I said trying to perk her up a little.
It was good to get a grip on how the team will work. We were definitely a newbie group that's for sure, as much as it pained me to admit it. I use to be able to solo dungeons so this will be a test on how much I can remember about being part of a delving team.
"What about you Lazarus?" Arath asked and I could see the interest of the other girls clear as day.
"I'm a bit of a mix I'm sorry, no real role I fall into because of my css." I began to list off my skills expining what each one did when asked, at least to the best of my ability. Still didn't fully understand a lot of my Primordial skills. I did manage to hold in my ughter when I mentioned I had the sex skill as all three of them blushed.
"Well." Arath coughed trying to cover her rosy cheeks. "I think that gives us a decent start."
"I'm so jealous you can level up skills for free. I would have level fifty cooking if that were the case." Willow grumbled.
"And that is something that doesn't leave the four of us right?" Arath almost growled.
"Cross my tail head mare."
"Of course."
Both Willow and Kayalett replied.
It was nice to be able to trust them with this secret. Hopefully I could get them to grow with me and not be left behind as I'm pretty sure I have close to the same amount of skill levels as them and I've only been in this world for a week.
