Chapter 3 - The temple

Second wind is a combat ability, I think. I suppose there is only one way to test that out. But first, shelter. I’m cold after the fight at the river, and it’s nearly nightfall. I hurry back into the forest, longsword in hand. After a while of searching, I found a dense clump of trees where I could hide easily. I grab a handful of sticks, pile them up on the ground, and start rubbing two together, trying to start a fire. Then, a glint catches my eye. I think it could be another chest, so I hurry over. But instead, it is a large stone pillar, with rubies and silver embedded in its side. Looking past it, I can see more pillars, all seeming to form a pathway. Suddenly, smoke billows out in front of me, forming into a humanoid creature. “Greetings, I am the defender of this temple, and I must kindly ask you to leave.” Lesser smoke wraith - ??? I take a step back. I’ve never seen a ??? Beside a name before. I grip my longsword. “And if I don’t?” “Well then, I suppose you wanted this. The creature dashes forward and claws at me. I am taken by surprise and only barely manage to bring my sword up in time, but a scrape is still left across my arm. I strike back, but fumble and leave myself open to another strike, which the wraith capitalises on.

I suppose I was looking for an opportunity to use Second Wind. I activate it by simply willing to, and feel healing flow through my body. I thrust my sword forward again, and it cuts the wraith. A wisp of smoke is disconnected from their body. The wraith flinches but retaliates. They summon a small orb of blue fire and toss it at me. I duck to the side, just in time to see the tree next to me get annihilated. I slash the wraith’s chest, but miss, and suffer another claw. My arms begin to tire, but I manage another slash. It connects, pushing the wraith back and dealing significant damage. The wraith summons another blue orb, and I don’t have time to dodge. I get pushed back, and my left arm feels awful. I use Second Wind again, this time it feels less tiring. I deliver an almighty strike, and the wraith finally falls.

This temple had better be worth it. I stagger forward, marching slowly through the path. I come to a small structure. It’s a small stone hut with a door and a strange symbol on the door handle. I grab it, and a system prompt pops up. “Full restore? Y/N “Yes of COURSE!” I shout, then quickly clap my hands over my mouth. The sun has fully set now, but people or animals could still be roaming about, but I am calmed by a warm feeling passing through my body. I pull the door open, and inside there is a giant hall. I step outside, still seeing the tiny stone hut. Inside, a giant hall with giant tree trunks supporting the roofs, torch sconces on every wall, and at the end, a throne with a skeleton sitting on a chair. “It’s bigger on the inside!”
