Chapter 8 – Moxie

Azi woke with a groan as her eyes fluttered open. Memories of the night before quickly flooded back to her whilst she sat up. She had failed, spectacurly, at her attempts to convince Fein to help her a second time.

Quite literally tossed out of Fein’s room, Azi had ended up spending most the night calming her new part down. Yet, sitting up in the bed she stared down at the want between her legs throbbing again.

“Is this going to be an every morning thing…” As much as she hated to admit she enjoyed the new addition to her body, it was exhausting.

She gnced outside the half open curtain, it was still early morning, and sighed. Ignoring the problem she got up out of bed and waddled towards the door. Unfortunately for her the bathroom sat across the house and she would have to brave the crossing with her erection in pin view.

Opening the door she peeked out, Fein was nowhere to be seen but the door to her room was ajar. It was as good a time as any and Azi quickly stepped across the open living space with her outfit in tow.

A cold shower did wonders to calm her down, though a fragment of her insane lust still burned even as the rest of her cooled down. After running her one and only outfit through a cleanse she donned the outfit and stepped back out into the main room.

This time Fein sat at the table, sipping a mug with a simple breakfast pced in front of her. Another pte sat opposite of her and Azi took it as her cue to sit.

“So, what’s the pn for today? Flea and all that.” Azi said, trying to lighten the mood. But Fein’s expression remained neutral. Taking the hint she sat and ate quietly and hoped whatever was in store for her wouldn’t be too gruelling.

“If you’re going to be staying here I expect st night to be an exception to your behaviour,” Fein started as soon as she finished her pte. “Back in Dalia was an exception to my behaviour, and as you are to be a student of Lisdan we cannot engage in that sort of retionship.”

“So if I wasn’t a student you’d have slept with me?” Azi questioned with a smug expression.

“The point being, don’t enter my room like that again,” Fein responded with an exasperated sigh.

“Fine.” A part of Azi felt a desire to push the conversation further but exhaustion twinged in her mind and she did not want to anger Fein. “So what is the pn for today?”

“The pn is simple, first we are going to have you examined by one of Lisdan’s Spirit physicians. Since you have no memory of ever contracting a spirit we need to make sure it wasn’t done so at the cost of your life force.”

  “And if it was?”

“That’s why you’re seeing the best I know,” Fein answered as she stood. She reached across the table and picked up Azi’s pte before depositing both into the kitchen. “After that we will visit the training grounds. If you’re going to succeed you’re going to need to understand your own power. Come now, we’re already running te.”

Before Azi had a chance to ask anymore questions Fein was out the door. She had to practically sprint to catch up to her as they headed towards the center of the city.

  _ _ _

“Really stands out against the rest of the city.” The pair stood in front of a rge white brick building that contrasted hard against the more rustic of the city. A universal sigil for health and care had been pstered onto a sign that hung above the door.

“Well, that is the point.” Even Fein stared at the building with a look bordering on incredulous. “The head physician had a say in designing the pce and they aren’t known for their subtlety.”

“I guess being able to quickly identify the nearest clinic helps, but did they have to pick such a gaudy white?” Azi followed Fein as she pushed open the double doors. A bst of cool air struck her as they entered the building.

A few people meandered about the waiting room, none looking particurly in need of care except for a kid sneezing into his mothers coat. Fein ignored the reception desk, giving the girl behind the counter a wave, and headed for a door leading to the back.

“Special privilege?” Azi questioned noticing the frowns of the other occupants.

“The head physician is an old friend, I’m allowed to stop by whenever I please.” Fein pushed open a door with the number four pstered on the front. Inside was a simple room with a couple stools opposite a counter and a rger chair at the back. A pedestal inid with runes set at the center.

“Take a seat, I’ll go get them,” Fein instructed motioning to the rger seat. She left the room, closing the door behind her.

Azi nodded and sat down. She had been in clinics before but non as fancy as this. Various devices and instruments sat upon the counter to her side. A massive diagram depicting the human body hung on the back of the door.

She only had to wait a few minutes before the door opened again and Fein returned with a disgruntled expression. Another woman followed her, cackling loudly at something unheard.

“Seriously? Even you succumbed to it? Not even mine could do that.” She closed the door behind her as they both entered the room. Taller than Fein and sporting a sturdier build the woman grinned at Azi.

“So, you’re the little minx Fein picked up in Dalia? Have to say, seeing you know what I’ve just heard makes sense.”

“Moxie,” Fein snapped as she shot the woman a harrowing gre.

“Oh lighten up Fein, it’s not every day I get to hear you, the Crystal Fox, was caught unawares,” The woman, Moxie, responded as she approached Azi.

“Uh, nice to meet you? What, uh, what exactly did Fein tell you?” Azi took the handshake offered to her.

“Fein, huh?” Moxie’s grin grew wider as she eyed the woman in question. “Well, Fein, told me about your little predicament as well as the lovely new addition to your body. It’s not everyday you hear about a spiritualist who was unknowingly bound to a contract.”

Heat rose in Azi’s cheeks as Moxie’s gaze darted down for just a moment. She shifted in the seat, awkwardly crossing one leg over the other as she shot an annoyed look at Fein.

“Don’t worry, Azi. Whilst it is rare, it’s not unheard of for a person to gain new… features, when contracting a spirit. If anything it’s a good sign, only those especially compatible with their bond can take on their features.”

“Fein had mentioned something like that…” Azi took a deep breath and tried to regain some composure. “Can you tell me what I contracted?”

“I can certainly try, though, I will warn you now. The list of spirits with a penchant for adding that particur piece of anatomy is short. And judging from the ‘other’ bit of information Fein let me in on.”

  “Moxie.” Fein interrupted.

“You’re no fun.” Moxie turned to Fein with a dramatic pout.

“Wait, what information? I know she told me I grew horns but that’s pretty common isn’t it?” Azi looked between the two with confusion.

“You want to do the honours?”

Fein sighed and cleared her throat. A subtle colouring grew in her cheeks as she spoke. “The… encounter, we had in Dalia was not normal. I said it was an exception to my behaviour but that wasn’t entirely correct. Your spirit, whatever it may be, influenced me to help you.”

“Influenced?” Azi began to recall the gnawing feeling from that moment.

“Yes, influenced. It wasn’t so much as coercion or mind control like other known mentally affecting spirits. If I had really wanted to I could have…” Fein trailed off, her face now a discernible shade of red.

“She got horny,” Moxie interjected. “Whatever your spirit is, it’s made her horny. Now, I’ve never heard of a spirit doing that, but I know of a few that might achieve a simir result.”

Azi stared at the both of them with a dumbfounded expression. Horny? Her power was to make someone horny. The revetion hit her like a train. She turned her attention towards Fein however the woman avoided her gaze and continued to stare at the floor.

The addition she could handle. An unknown contract forced upon her was almost a blessing in a way. But the power to stir arousal in others?

  She could not.
