Chapter 3 - Cloning Cannibal Silkworm

Lucien breathed in and out roughly, and looked back. There were many people huddled up in one place warily glancing at him. Lucien breathed a sigh of relief, and the man offered a hand to help him up. Lucien grabbed his hand and stood up.

“Thanks for the help, you are?”

“The name’s Theo Marcel. Just call me Theo, what about you?”

“Lucien Hale. May I ask what room this is?”

“Haha, no need to be so formal, brother. We are all aiming for the same university aren’t we? Well, we were…” Theo sighed, and he looked around.

“This room is the exam room. You can probably tell with the test papers scattered all around right? Damn it, I studied hard for this damned test too. Why did some ridiculous disgusting worms attack right now, what even are they? Some kind of mutant species or something? Goodness.”

“I see…” Lucien looked around. The people whom he made eye contact with flinched, their gestures becoming a bit more wary. Well, in a way, they weren’t wrong to act like that, especially the way Lucien looked right now. Scruffy hair, torn clothing, blood, and mysterious liquids all over his body, yet despite it, he was expressionless as if he felt no pain nor any disgust at the way he looked currently. Even Theo next to him warily eyed him from toe to up before he did a forced laugh.

“Haha, but damn, man. How many did you kill? With a guy like you here, I suppose we will be safe and sound!”

Theo smiled as he patted Lucien’s back. Lucien smiled bitterly.

“Sorry, but I won’t stay here for long. You guys shouldn’t either.”

“Huh? Why? Outside are droves of cannibalistic worms and you want to get out of here?” Theo frowned, confused.

“Remember the explosion from earlier? That is not an explosion because of some natural occurrence, neither are the worms.”

“Ehh? Are you saying it will happen again?”

Lucien nodded, looked through the windows before his eyes widened. He grabbed Theo and shouted.

  “Duck under the tables!”

Lucien said while he forcefully dashed and pulled Theo to hide under the long tables of the room alongside the chairs for additional protection. A great explosion then burst from the window and walls. Pieces of rubble flew everywhere, and screams resounded.

“W-what’s happening!” Theo said while forcefully hunched over below the table. Lucien ignored him then after a few seconds, he went out from the tables and looked around. Prior, around 30 to 40 students were alive, but due to the sudden explosion, flying rubbles and glasses, few were dead, while many are injured. Still, the quick witted ones who hid in the tables survived with less to no injuries.

“A-a person!” Theo gasped. Lucien glanced at the direction of the explosion. Amongst the smoke, a person stood up, coughing. It seems to be a she, considering her silhouette. A radio sound then resounded from somewhere around her. Lucien strained his ears.

“Agent Sien-, beep, are you s,beep, e! I repeat, Agent Sienna, are you safe?” The voice rang through the area. Judging from the static it must’ve been partly broken, not to mention, Lucien and the others could hear it.

The silhouette coughed some more before replying.

“I’m safe, though there are some injuries, they are minor. I will get back so-”

The agent then looked around and saw the students huddled up.

  “Students! Students are left here!”

“Damn it, prioritize evacuating them fast. We will try holding the Cloning Cannibal Silkworm back!”

‘Cloning Cannibal Silkworm. Right, that mouthful of a name is the name of the worm. I remember now.’

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

The agent then ran and revealed herself through the smoke. Her ponytailed black hair fluttered behind her back, she wore a full face thin black plated mask seemingly without any holes for her to see with, and her body was covered by a sleek, black plated armor that clung to her like a second skin. She had a gun, and various tools on her belt. Alongside a blue necklace which symbolized her rank.

‘Rank 3…Not bad, she is quite strong.’

“What the hell is with that outfit? It’s like some kind of weird mix of tech armor…” Theo mumbled.

Even though AI, flying drones, and such had become commonplace. There were no such things like the armor in front of them. The woman then spoke.

“Attention, students! This place is no longer safe, so I will go and escort yo-, fuck!”

The woman looked up for a brief moment and cursed before she dashed away into the students direction. Then, a humongous worm burst through the ceiling and landed on the floor. The purple wiggling body of hundreds of worms, stacked upon, congested, and sticking to each other, it would be more apt to call it worms then a ‘worm’ but the worm moved in synergy as if they were one body.

The worm collectively looked at the Agent Sienna and dashed towards her, all opening their mouths in unison. It was quite the sight for trypophobia people. Sienna clicked her tongue before a humongous flaming spear formed from besides her and fired towards the worm, exploding. The screams of worms resounded, some of the worm’s bodies turned into char, and ash before dropping yet more worms multiplied, filling up the wound. Sienna then turned towards Lucien, and Theo, forcefully grabbing them and moving away, lifting their bodies up like mere childrens and dodged the attack of the worm.

“She’s so strong…” Theo, who was already shaken by it all, mumbled. He seemed to have slightly lost his mind. Sienna then dropped Theo, and Lucien, near the other group of students and turned towards the worm.

“Students, sorry about this. But could you guys go run by yourself? As you can see, I’m quite busy! Damn it!”

Sienna cursed again before a transparent blue barrier formed in front of her. The worm in front moved around weirdly, as if it was going to do a special attack. However, before that happened. Fire spears rained from the hole of the building crashing into the worm and burning it. Then, four other masked people came from the hole, and landed on the ground. They all wore the same suit, and thin plated mask with no holes and their blue necklaces could be seen.

‘A group of Rank 3 is having trouble defeating the worm? Is the worm a Rank 4? No, I suppose it is just that the worm is just a Rank 3 that has some kind of troublesome Seed…’

And perhaps because of that Seed, the worm was able to escape the subjugation site and implicated the Evelstein University making the subjugation even more troublesome.

Lucien then felt a foreign sensation coming in, and his heart felt slight pain. Corruption has began. Lucien smiled, if a human is exposed to a high level of Chaos Entity, or any form of Chaos whatever it is, then they would start getting corrupted. If a human fails to overcome the Corruption, then they would fall and become another Chaos Entity, however, if they succeed…

  ‘Then they become a Chaoswalker.’

And to become a Chaoswalker one would need to endure the corruption, but also to be careful about the amount of Chaos they are taking in so as to not overload themselves and turn them into a monster.

‘In that sense, this silkworm is perfect, it is not too high nor too low in chaos. But the agents are now here, so I cannot forcefully go towards the main body of the worm. Well I would probably die anyways if I did without any protection, if so…Might as well do as I originally did in my first life, in a slightly different manner of course.’

Lucien thought and observed. One of the agents looked at Lucien, Theo, and the other students with a glance before he glanced back at the worm.

“Sienna, go quickly and escort these students. The four of us are enough for this worm.” The agent, who spoke like he was the Leader, didn’t bother using the communication device, instead he spoke through the mask. Sienna nodded, and turned towards the students.

“Hear that? Let’s go fast. Everyone gather round, let’s move!”

  “Wait, maam agent.”

The woman then looked at Lucien. Though Lucien cannot see her expression, he could sense her frowning.

“Just call me Agent Sienna. What is it? If you’re scared would you rather be off here with that thing?” Agent Sienna pointed at the worm. Lucien nodded his head.

“Actually yes. I will stay here.”

“Huh? Are you crazy?” Agent Sienna said while tilting her head. Theo then grabbed Lucien's shoulder.

“Hey brother, that’s a bit…Too insane no? Let’s just go.”

Lucien made eye contact with Theo, and shook his head. He came all the way here to get Corrupted and awaken as a Chaoswalker, not to escape safely. But he cannot say that since he is supposed to be a ‘regular civilian’ right now that doesn’t have any ideas about the supernatural.

“Rather than going through the hundreds and thousands of worms in the hallway. I would rather stay here and defend myself here. I am confident in my fighting capabilities…And this entire time none of the worms had gotten attacked us have they?”

Lucien glanced at the worms and the people fighting which made Sienna, Theo and even the students in the back who were silently observing did as well. Hundreds of cards flew around and rotated as they sliced through the many worms that are constantly dying and multiplying. Flame spears also constantly struck the endless worm's body. There was also a man tanking against some of the worm’s attacks with his body bursting with flames.

“That is because they are focusing their best to defend you all. If you decide against following me, then you will have to bear responsibility for it. Because we will be focusing on exterminating the worm by then, instead of defending you.”

“That’s fine by me.” Lucien said. His reasoning might seem stupid, but it’s fine as long as it doesn’t make them suspicious.

Sienna silently watched Lucien for a few seconds before she shouted.

“Anyone else want to stay here? We don’t have much time so decide in five seconds. One, two, three-”

“I will stay here.” Theo said, smiling bitterly. Lucien’s eyes widened as he looked at Theo. Lucien could also hear the sigh of Agent Sienna. However after she had counted to five, no one else raised their hands.

“Alright then, let’s move, all of you, chop chop. As for you two foolish stooges there…Goodness, here.” Agent Sienna threw a couple of things towards Lucien and Theo. They were two knives and a gun.

“Use your fist, and your knives to survive. Don’t regret your decision.” Agent Sienna said before she moved, alongside the other people who decided to leave, and before she went out she shouted.

“I’m escorting them now! No need to hold back anymore!”

“Took you long enough! Wait, what about those two students?” The man with the flaming body shouted.

“Leave them be. They can handle their own share.” Agent Sienna said.

“Seriously? Ah fuck it! Leader, let’s do it.”

“Yes. Let us finally kill this thing.” The Leader said before cards formed all around him and flowed, hundreds, and maybe thousands of them.
