TVTC - 8

A knock came from the window. The rabbit peeked his head to the side of the pile of paper, seeing a pig behind the glass pane. A few seconds later, the pig entered the office. “So, what’s new?” The rabbit asked.

“Someone was way too into it when the ones they are in charge of finished the second floor. The boss was not mad at it, actually the opposite, so now, even if it seems too early for such a thing, when your humans pass the second floor, you can make them ask you three questions each.”

  “Each?”

  “Yeah, quite absurd.”

  “Okay.”

“I was here to tell you that because your humans are close to completing the second floor. However, I would like to ask something.”

  “Go on.”

The pig’s eyes rolled in a circle multiple times, widening his eyes. “Do you seriously not touch any of this paperwork?”

  “They're not my paperwork.”

  “What?”

“The ones next to me just have their desk full, so they asked me to place the pending ones here.”

“What? Do you not get any work?”

  “Nope.”

  “Seriously?”

  “Yep.”

  ***

Tas and Harley stared at a group of ten goblins a few trees away in the middle of a forest. The goblins all sat on the ground, guarding the area.

  [Progress: 99/100]

The two stared at each other’s eyes, their body in stance. In the spurt of a second, Harley jumped at Tas and pressed him to the ground. “Aghhhh!!!!!!!” Harley yelled to the top of his lungs. The goblins all stood up, spotting two humans, and ran as fast as they could. He then stabbed Tas’s wrist, locking it to the ground.

“You won’t get away bitch!” Said Tas, grabbing Harley as hard as he could. After a few seconds of struggle, Harley managed to escape. “Fuck you!” He said, standing up with an imbalance. While he was running, he turned around and stuck his tongue out, teasing Tas.

  [Progress: 100/100]

“Thank you.” He smiled. As soon as he was outside the goblin’s view, his speed already outpacing the goblins with ease in just a few days, he opened the door back to the cabin.

When he arrived, standing before him was the rabbit, wearing a warm smile. “Oh shit, more exposition?”

  “What?” The rabbit responded.

“Nothing, let’s wait for the other guy. Oh, while we are at it, do you have any way of dealing with that?”

The rabbit stood still, smiling brightly, his eyes the same single color of black. “You know, your black eyes really make your white fur stand out.”

“Thank you.” The rabbit chuckled a little.

Fuck. Tas get here quick, this guy is freaking me out. I’d rather talk to a stranger than talk to this guy. The awkwardness mixed with the constant fear of something, anything, if I don’t fucking get this guy entertained is insane.

“Fuck you man! The fuck’s wrong with you! We could have died togethe…” Tas’s head turned left and right, his eyes wide, each turn getting slower and slower. “Who’s that?”

“Wait… you’ve never met this rabbit? The one that appeared in the classroom.”

“Oh…” Tas’s teeth cracked, and blood dripped from his fist. Harley walked and tapped his back, smiling at him and the rabbit.

“Now that all three of you are in this room, it’s time to get your rewards! And I think Tas… It’s not me who put you in this place, but I think you’d like to hear the rewards. Three questions. I’ll answer three questions from each of you; whatever it is, as long as it is not forbidden, I’ll tell you anything.”

Tas’s eyes shivered. “Revive- Is it possible to revive the dead?!” He said quickly.

“That’s one question for you! Good one. The answer- is yes.”

Tas immediately forced his way out of Harley’s arms, running straight at the rabbit and grabbing the skin of his chest. “How do you revive someone?!” Tears moved on their own, his entire body began to shiver; anger, fear, hope, everything resonated in his body.

“The market. The Soul Stone. One soul stone can revive anyone, literally anyone, even if they have existed a million years into the past. As long as they were once alive, they can be revived.”

“Market!” A screen appeared in front of Tas. He released his grip and started to look frantically.

The screen had a grid system, with items placed in a column of three and an infinite array of rows. At the top was the search button, and to its left side were a button with a question mark on it and a button with a red coin. On a separate screen with the shape of a standing rectangle were categories, separating the types of items with food, weapons, armors, artifacts, abilities, experience, and to the bottom were three sections with a closed lock.

“Well, it seems like his last question will take a while. How about you? What do you want?” The rabbit instantly appeared in front of Harley, passing through Tas.

“You won’t take a question just because I ask simple things, right? Like this one?”

“Of course not. I’m not a genie.”

The moment he heard the rabbit’s rewards, his mind had already started to think. Asking about reviving the dead is stupid. Anything that might exist in the market is a stupid question. What I need is information. However, what information do I really need? Content of the floors? The number of floors? How to get home? Shit! There’s nothing in my mind. What the fuck do I ask.

“It seems this will take far longer than I expected. What a disappointment. I’ll be back in five minutes. Any more questions after that would be voided; you have five minutes to think. Oh! That woman in the back! You can ask questions too! Though, I already know what you’ll ask. Yes, he’s dead.” The rabbit once again disappeared into a black mist, leaving the three to be in deep thought about everything.

Harley didn’t have enough time to think, he knew to himself that there was no way he could think of something good to ask in those five minutes. All that he needs to do in those time is to get the most value he could, even if they were all practically useless.

The world. I can ask about the power system. Does magic exist? Is there a lobby where I can meet everyone? Shit, no, those are useless, what am I even gonna do with those information… oh… I just had a good idea. Two more! I need two more.

“I found it! Soul Stone! One million store points? What! What! Shit! Shit!” Tas looked for the sell option, knowing that the magic cores were the currency for the Market. To the left of the screen was the sell option. Once Tas had clicked on it, a different screen had a brief appearance.

  [Market Rules]

[1. Purchases are limited to 2 per 24 hours. The timer will begin after the second purchase.]

[2. Only 10 items per day can be sold to the market with no regard for quality. The market counts each individual item and does not consider batches to count as one.]

[3. The auction is opened at the end of every week. The auction allows players to trade 2 equally valued items. This can only be done once every week.]

“What!” Yelled Tas, removing the screen as soon as he read the second rule of the market. Behind the screen was the selling option, Tas hurrying to gather ten magic cores and selling them all immediately. He grabbed the magic cores at the floor and placed them one at a time inside the screen.

The image of the magic core appeared on the screen, a number was placed at the bottom right, indicating the amount. Once he had collected all the magic cores, he then clicked the sell button.

[You Have Sold 10 Inferior Magic Cores For 10 Points.]

“What… 10… 10 points… no… 10 items per day…” His hands started to shake, his fingers twisting, calculating. “That’s one hundred thousand days! -365 days a year… 274 years…” He fell to his knees. Just as his entire life lost hope once more, Harley talked.

“Brother, your over dramatization is ruining thinking, for fuck sake, it’s just the magic cores of a Goddamn goblin, go kill a dragon and sell that. Think for a little, 10 points, it’s 10 points cause it’s fucking goblins. God!”

Five minutes passed quickly, the rabbit appearing on the exact second, demanding their questions. But before he could even speak, Harley volunteered himself. “Answer my questions first.”

  “Gladly.”

“No! Let me ask first!” Tas grabbed the legs of the rabbit.

“Seriously, stop touching me with your filthy skin.” he didn’t even react, and his hand still held on.

“Oh, come on! Fine! Ask him your fucking last question.”

“What is the average income of a player in the currency of Store Points once they have reached the 20th floor in a single day?” he asked, surprising both Harley and the rabbit.

Now, that’s actually a really interesting question! Hahaha! How did he even think of that? That’s so unnecessarily specific and… I don’t know.

  “Answer that, rabbit.” Said Harley.

“First of all, I already said this on our first meeting, but my name is Rooge. Please refer to me respectfully.” Said the rabbit. He then continued. “Now, to answer that question… is actually interesting. I had to search it up in my database for a few seconds just to calculate your question. The answer to it is twenty thousand a day.”

  “Twenty… that’s just 20 days… it’s possible.”

The rabbit smirked, scoffing at the ray of hope in the human’s eyes. “If you could survive till then.” He turned back to Harley. “Now, what are your questions?”
