Stage 1, Fifth Spell: Secret Store ~ Seclusive Shopkeeper

  Definitely_not_a_human

We agreed to meet at my house today so that we can safely discuss about our Abilities, or Capabilities as Genso-san prefer.

So Genso-san can fly and dodge things really well, while Maria-san can see/sense supernatural stuffs, see the future and apparently transport us over to the Spiritual/Astral Pne where all the Kami, Seirei, Youkai and everything in between reside.

We have finished the discussion, and are currently sitting around the living room in awkward silence.

Then somehow it ends up with us being convinced by Maria-san to go out for some window shopping.

  Like actual friends.

  Ugh...

  Are we friends?

  Do they qualify?

  Do I qualify?

  I think so?

Anyways, we walk, and walk, and walk, and eventually I get tired of it and just levitate my legs with ESP to pretend that I'm walking.

"Are you not interested in anything, Sumireko-san?" I'm jolted out of my trance by Genso-san.

"Um... Not really. I usually order my stuffs online, since they're so hard to come by here in Japan."

  "I see."

Now that I look at her, doesn't she seem a little tired?

"You look tired." She is startled by my words. Huh...

"Hn, just a bad night sleep."

Hmm... I smell something wrong here.

"Ah, right, I forgot to ask before, but why is your hakama purple? Isn't it normally red?" Huh, I haven't notice it until Maria-san points that out...

"Well, the shrine I stay at has this old guide book. It's written that all clothing for official shrine business must be purple, bck or white."

"And you just followed it? No question?" She doesn't strike me as the type of person that would do that.

"There wasn't anywhere that sell purple hakama, you know? I just bought a few red ones, and they turned purple overnight."

  Wait what?

  I look at Maria-san.

Ah, she's also looking at me.

"And you didn't tell us this is because...?" Maria-san leans in close to Genso-san face aaaaand this isn't something I should be watching, so I turned around.

Hey! You! Stop staring at my blushing face! You are making it worse!

Oh wait, they're looking at the scene behind me. Oh well.

"Um... Ah... Eh..." Genso-san stammers. Understandable reaction. "I-I, uh... I forgor~" Ah, I can practically see her teehee pose.

Wait, no, that's just my ESP "seeing things not in my field of view" thingy.

Huh? Was that shop always there?

"Hey look! An occultism shop!" I pull Maria-san over, who in turn drags along Genso-san.

Hm? I think she said something...

  Whatever.

Our entrance to the shop is signaled by the ringing of a bell.

The first thing that comes to mind when I look at the inside is dim. The orange light from the few old style wall mps is just enough to see, but not too clearly.

  Then, the dispy.

  Oh my god the dispy!

  So many mystical items!

Real crystal balls (I checked, pin gss doesn't have any mystical properties), alchemy charts that actually make sense, uh... a half-length obsidian mirror? Why is it in a gss dispy? I mean clear quartz dispy.

And... is that a set of Zener cards!?

No, there are two... three... four... IS THAT A COLLECTOR'S EDITION!?

"WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" I have to shriek in excitement!

  "Calm down, ss."

"HIYAAAAAAAAAA!!!" And now I shriek for an entirely different reason.

Behind the previously unnoticed counter is a man who looks to be in his twenties.

The reason I say "looks to be" is because of his fashion, his tone and, of course, my ESP "telling people's age with just a gnce no matter how nonsensical that might be" mabob.

  He's actually in his sixties.

  How?

I must have been gaping because Maria-san has approached me and pushed my mouth close.

"Sorry for her behavior, she can be a little airheaded sometimes."

"Hey! I'm not airheaded! I'm just expressive!"

  "...Right..."

"Now, what is the reason for you three to visit my humble little shop?"

"Sumireko-san here seems to have taken a notice of your shop. If I may ask, why is this pce so..." She trails off.

  "Dimly lit? Hidden?"

  "...Full of malevolence..."

"Ah, I see. It's been a while since I st met a Sensor."

  Hmm?

"What you are feeling is, indeed, a kind of miasma." Maria-san seems to want to say something, but is cut off "Right there." he points at the mirror.

  Huh.

"Is there a reason why you put it on a dispy instead of sealing it in a secured pce?" Maria-san continues asking.

"That'd be because of its supernatural properties. You see, that thing, if left unobserved, will over a period of time summon... certain unsavory characters."

"There's more to it than that."

He pinches the bridge of his nose.

  Huh?

"I was hoping you didn't notice that. That is what makes it doubly dangerous..."

Suddenly, a mass of gray erupts from the bck surface, only to bounce back inside when it collides with the quartz.

  Is that really just quartz?

Activate! ESP "understanding what makes up something with just a gnce"!

  Holy...

  I mean it literally.

The quartz is saturated with silver and holy energy!

"Oh, cognitive hazard and information hazard in one? I see..."

Hmm? Is that buzzing I hear?

I turn to look at the source to find Genso-san producing a book from between the fps of her kosode...

  What?

"Um, sorry, my Migaibu is ringing."

All three of us stare as she open the book to read something.

As no one is asking the question, I decide to step up.

  "What's a Migaibu?"

She looks up from the book, "uhm" a little, then answers

"Miko guide book. (Miko gaidu bukku)"

Oh, the guide book of her shrine.

  ...

  Whar?

"And... why is it ringing?" The old shop keeper asks.

  "I don't know. That's why I'm reading it."

  "What?"

  Mo omou, ojii-san, mo omou.

Did the side of her lips just twitched?

  Is she enjoying confusing us?

"This book always seems to find a way onto my person when I left it. It also contains every single thing about the shrine I live at, updating in real time. At this point, I'm not surprise if it can work as a phone too."

"So, what does it says?" Maria-san asks.

"Uh... Onuin wahuu behoaunudiurua bearinukanenuge, sehuarashidin unudi behaniasashidin."

Then, all of us feel something breaking.

Maria-san turns to look at the mirror with surprise clear on her face.

  "Wha-"

The two of us (me and the shopkeeper) follow her eyes.

"So, uh, good news is that I think I just cleansed that mirror."

"You say it like you also have a bad news." I ugh at my own joke.

  Her face is bnk.

  My ughter fades.

"You don't have a bad news, right?"

"Every cursed object just turned into a blessed artifact." Maria-san answers for her.

""What!?"" It seems like today's most used word is "what".
