When I open my eyes again, I find myself in a rge bedroom, very much that of a young girl, maybe around te childhood. It has several different stuffed animals all over the room. I could see a desk with a group of books on it.
Confused about what was going on, I stood up and noticed that I was wearing a very light nightgown for sleeping in.
I made my way over to the mirror in the room to look at myself.
But what was on the other side of the mirror was completely shocking.
The person I saw looking back at me was a small girly figure with dark hair and gray eyes.
The face was younger then I remembered it, but it was clear what was going on for me.
I was reincarnated, or transmigrated, into Starcrossed Adventurer, as my own character.
This was reeling me.
Like so many people, I fantasized about this happening when I was younger, but the thing is, reality is often much more disappointing.
But before my brain could think about any of that, someone entered the room I was in.
The door opened and several women came into the room. They consisted of several maids, two people who I recognized as my parents from the game, and a girl who I did not recognize from the game.
But when they saw that I was over by the mirror my ‘parents’ came rushing over to me, along with the young girl.
“Nyx, you're awake” my ‘mother’ said to me, bringing me into a bear hug. My ‘father’ then hugged her as well.
I knew that if I were seeing this from the outside, it would be a heartwarming scene, but I was just confused.
Nyx’s parents weren’t fully fledged NPC’s in the game. If you didn’t go out of your way to interact with them, they only ever showed up in the prologue.
The prologue itself was basically just the framing device for why Nyx ended up becoming involved with adventurers.
On a trip when she was younger, she was attacked by a group of monsters and she at one point needed to defend herself. So she picks up a weapon of the pyer's choice, and fights a few monsters before she is helped. The weapon you picked served as the bonus you gained from the prologue, giving you a boost in its proficiency level and a modifier for its combo.
My brain was firing really quickly trying to remember what could possibly be going on in front of me.
But before I could say anything, my ‘parents’ started talking. “We have been so worried about you. Someone, go get the doctor right away” my ‘father’ said.
And for the first time, I was able to say something through my confusion. “Doctor?”.
But I don’t think they heard me, since they rushed me back over to my bed.
“Sweety, you probably still need your rest. The doctor will be here to check on you soon” my ‘mother’ said.
During all of this, behind both of them, the same girl who came in with them earlier stood behind them.
She had silver hair, reminiscent of the type on my fathers head. She also had his red eyes. In all honesty, this was the first time I really paid attention to his features. From what I know my character to look like, she would take more after her mother, with the same bck hair and gray eyes.
Quickly, a man came rushing into the room. By my guess this was the doctor they had called for. He does a few checks on me then goes over to talk to my ‘parents’. Trying to hear what they were saying, I heard a few interesting things that confused me.
The basic gist was that a few days ago, I had started a massive fever and had fallen into a small coma.
Nothing my family did would lower the fever and I didn’t wake up.
They had no clue what was happening and called for a doctor to check me out.
The doctor had no clue either and said that they should probably call the church for help.
This made sense in the game logic for me since the church reted quests were how you unlocked healing magic.
But before they could, I woke up today, with no fever.
The doctor said that it would probably be best for me to get more rest, but I should be fine. With that, the doctor left.
But something he said stuck to me.
“Your son should be fine going forward”
This made no sense to me. Nyx was female when I made my character.
And beyond that, my current body looked like a girl, and based on everything in the room, it was a girls room.
Even the sleeping clothes were for a girl.
But, I was their son.
Quickly moving my arm to check, it was right.
This just made my confusion greater.
But the doctor left and my ‘family’ came back over to me.
“Nyx, you need to get some more sleep. We’ll come back before dinner to get you” my ‘mom’ said and kissed me on the forehead.
My ‘dad’ gave me a head pat and left with her, followed by the maids that came with them.
This just left behind the other girl, or should I say the girl that came in with them.
She quickly turned around, gave me a big hug.
She then said, “Get well soon. I’ll come visit you whenever I get the chance” and she left as well.
She was a few years older than I was, I guessed. I didn’t have one in the game, but she must be Nyx’s older sister.
Lying back on the bed, I looked up at the top of the canopy.
This was way more vivid than any dream I had ever had, but just to be sure I bit my tongue.
“Ow” I say quietly to myself.
I had heard when I was a kid that you can’t feel pain in dreams, so with that, I confirmed that what was happening was reality.
But what kind of reality was this? I was my video game character, but gender flipped from when I made them.
For some reason, even though I am still male, the room I was in was clearly for a little girl.
But while my brain was reeling, some transparent screen popped up right in front of me.
