William Gloria Dakonmax steered the wheel of Chewynuts with great power as turbulent waves smashed against its hull.
He was the captain of this beautiful merchant ship and he was damn good at his job. Known as an expert of the sea. He had amassed quite a reputation.
The dark waters rose as high as the sky attempting to swallow the ship. Fortunately the sailors on the ship were quite experienced helping the captain to steer the ship across the waves without complete damage.
William thought aloud in confusion, "A Phantom Moon?" He could not understand. Was this the main cause for the powerful storm tonight?
He could feel droplets of rain hitting against his coat. His neck was already sore and it was hard for him to see ahead… but he persisted and he persisted until a faint light showed ahead in the distance, shimmering across the rain.
"A ship?"
"A ship in this storm? Other than mine?"
However the next second, the light that gave the lonely hope of new company vanished leaving behind the familiar darkness filled with droplets of water pouring down.
"A sailor's delusion?"
As William doubted his sanity, he took another chug of soora from the pouch in his other hand, revelling in its strong taste.
A strong distilled alcoholic drink made from unhooked sheep rice flour and powdered herbs mixed with water to make a dough-like drink.
The drink was a delicacy in the Wild East Bckbird Isnds. It is where the ship had st docked to sell its original goods in return for fearsome artillery. Now the ship was en route back home, the Bellivana Kingdom where the ship would directly dock in Mascox Family Territory, Duke Vdingo's private secret dockyard.
Shaking his head to keep up with the strong buzz that attacked his head, he took a hold of himself. Instantly he removed a betel nut from his pocket and chewed on it.
Instantly, driving the ship in the fearsome storm became all the more intense and fun. The effects were slow but they completely calmed William's nerves and gave a steady boost of dopamine and adrenaline.
The captain smirked and took a chug of soora, burping aloud."Truly there is nothing more exciting than driving into the unknown even after so many years. How could I even think of retirement? What a fool I am. I'd rather die at sea than on nd."
As the captain rambled drunkenly showing his appreciation for the waters, the sailors below were not as calm as him.
They were struggling hard to keep the mast and not slip off from the deck, many of them which had fallen prey to the waves.
Meanwhile below in the hull, Gatsby and Vesper were frantically removing water with their mugs out of the ship so that it would not sink.
The older man prodded the kid and the other sailors present with them."Fast fast fast! We have to drain all this water out or we'll drown to death!"
One sailor excimed aloud, "There's too much! The water is not decreasing at all! The waves are bringing in the same water we throw out!"
Gatsby filled buckets of water and threw it out, screaming aloud."Don't get tired now, those on the deck are doing the same! Throw the water out!"
Vesper unlike the other sailors and despite being a child monotonously threw water out of the hull and seeing the child working so hard many of the other sailors that were tired picked their buckets and continued.
Suddenly in the corner of his vision, he noticed a light in the distance. The little kid frowned as he noticed it disappeared underwater creeping closer to their ship.
Before he realised a few seconds ter the light showed again and this time it was close by and everyone in the ship had noticed by now.
"A ship!""What was that light?!""Is it a ship?!"
The next second they all noticed as the light disappeared underwater.
The captain burped, the expression upon his face that of confusion as he noticed the light having disappeared again.
Suddenly his eyes widened as he broke out of his stupor. He tried to steer the wheel but to his dismay, no matter how hard he tried the ship would not change directions at all or move in the direction of the charted course.
Suddenly the wheel began to spin continuously without the captain's discretion and the ship froze on the spot despite the raging current.
Akin to an earthquake, everything on the ship trembled as everyone felt the peculiar feeling of being lifted in air.
Suddenly the captain looked up, he had not even realized when but it seemed as if the ship had involuntarily travelled into the jaws of a Violet Whale, a legendary creature from the abysmal depths.
Seeing that the water was leaking out and the jaws of the whale had shut close, the captain took another chug of soora and spat the betel nut out, grabbing another to repce it.
"The Gods be good we are in the jaws of the devil but it has not swallowed us."
The captain held the rosary around his neck, with the symbol of a halo around a star and muttered softly."Oh Ruler of Endless Dreams and Sovereign of Boundless Reality, The Lord of the Lost that finds the Forgotten.I pray for your vision;I pray for your whispers;I pray for guidance through the twilight of dreams and the dawn of reality."
Suddenly as if answering to his prayers, many torches lit up inside the mouth of the Violet Whale. One embedded in each tooth of it.
William gnced at them amazed but he knew this was not the work of his god. However it was the result of his praying that had speedened the result of his fate.
In the distance, the crew aboard the ship Chewynuts and the Captain, all of them gnced in a singur direction where a humanoid figure walked with a flickering mp in hand.
As the man drew closer, the light from the mp flickered on its visage. The crew of Chewynuts gasped aloud all at once.
The figure stood four meters tall, its body covered in rough, shark-like skin, pale gray with hints of blue.
Its face was a twisted mockery of humanity, with wide, cold eyes and a jutting, shark-like snout.
Rows of sharp teeth peeked from its elongated jaw, and a dorsal fin ran down its back. Its arms were thick and muscur, ending in cwed hands along with a long powerful tail.
The creature smiled, its teeth evil under the dim light. It was then that the people aboard the Chewynuts noticed a drawing lit up from all the torches embroidered across the hard pate of the Violet Whale, a terrifying drawing of a pirate skull.
"Welcome aboard the Axis… ft world snackies. The abode of the White Shark Pirates."
