Prologue

A boy with ragged clothing stared absent-mindedly to the horizon, mesmerized by the sunset.

The sound of waves crashing in a rhythm... Only adding to the ambience of the scenery.

After a few seconds of quiet contemplation, he brings his hands towards his face and groans...

The sound of sand quietly shifting catches his attention. He looks to the side and sees an orange crab-like creature with oval-shaped pincers.

The crab stares at him for a while then continues on its way, moving sideways into the ocean.

He followed the crab with his eyes until it disappeared into the water.

  "Where am I?"

He asked, unsure of where and how he got here, even the crab, he was pretty certain no such animal exists, it looked far too outlandish. But also familiar.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Or maybe it does exist, he saw one after all.

Looking around, all he could see were sand and the occasional boulders. Behind him lies a forest, and smoke rising to the air.

  "Smoke?"

Yes, smoke. He stood up wobbling and feeling an aching pain all over his body, a few cracking sounds were made as he did the action.

He wanted to sit back again right there and then, but he knew he needed to find shelter before it got too dark.

And with the presence of smoke means fire, hopefully a man-made one like a campfire, a shelter. So a person would be there, if that was the case.

He slowly walked his way to the direction of the smoke hoping whoever or whatever waiting for him there was friendly.

Probably not a good idea to approach an unknown in the middle of the woods but he was too tired to care.

  He just wanted to rest...

Along the way he could spot a few critters here and there but he was too tired to look properly, so he just ignored them and moved on.

He used the nearby trees as a crutch, leaning alongside them.

As he neared, he could hear the sizzle of the fire and occasional pop of burnt wood. He looked forward and was relieved to see a campfire, and a person standing beside it.

  Or was it 3 people?

He didn't know, his eyes were getting too blurry to tell.

The aforementioned person turned and ran towards him, motioning to grab a white-red colored ball at his waist.

The action startled him, but he could do nothing as he promptly fell down and lost consciousness.
