83 Winchester

The rickety old car’s wheel vibrate. Diesel grabs at himself and moans in pain, “Are you alright?!” He growls, “I’m fine!” I shake my head, “You aren’t fine. You just got cut up by an intergalactic assassin.” He squints, “He didn’t look it.” I rub the steering wheel, “The smoke is new though.”

He tenses up and I let us roll to a stop. “Keep going!” I sigh and look down at the blood trickling down his side. He grits his teeth and the wound seals itself shut. He grimaces as I take out a scope. “I’m fine! Let’s go!” I adjust the scope, battalions and battalions of tanks, barely any room to move through the massive crowd.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

I suddenly chance upon Jack, chained to a post. He looks up with a surprised look. Soldiers follow his eyes and they become frantic. I lower the scope and climb back down, “Hostages.” “I can take them.” He tries to get up, but roars in pain.

“We have to move.” "They saw you?" I groan as I arm myself to the teeth, "Yeah, we have to ditch the car." He groans and grabs at his head. "God, the pain." I shake my head, "Come on, I'll hoist you up." He takes my hand, "Ready?" I groan as he moans in pain, but I manage to get him upright. Without me, he would've fell out the car.

He leans over me as we walk towards the forest. "Rose is lucky to have you." "It's a job." He chuckles, "Don't just brush it off, you're everything to that girl." We both hear cars coming our way, so I lower him down and lay flat.
