Book 1 : The lock, chapter 06 : The Army of One

Me and my (Blade ant]) were looking in all directions.

Behind us the tunnels had already collapsed from the explosion. In the front, in the tunnel to the left large boulders were falling and blocking the entry. All but a few ants were able to get through before it closed off.

In front of me, the main tunnel, nothing could be see, nor could I hear any clicking.

But that big tunnel in front of us, that's where the true danger would come from.

My ant stood strong, and was able to take the first ants one by one.

Seeing the reckless, suicidal charges of the ants I could feel my newfound intuition speak to me of more possibilities.

The old 'parry and neck bite' combination was wonderful, but a few ants down the line I could tell how easy it would be to use the sharp edge of the carapace.

Guiding the ant as best as I could and sending it all the mana I could spare to heal it's wounds I got lost in thought. Pondering what that feeling was nearly missed the first ant running in from the front.

Panic seemed to offer that moment of clarity and recklessness.

Ater parrying another bite my and rammed into the neck with it's sharp carapace. Just in time to dive and bite at the first ant from main tunnel.

The ants are pushing in as fast as they can now, reckless dives sheering off legs while blocking bites. Some of it's legs tore off and and are crippeling other ants.

The last 5 are diving on him together, and even with all the mana it's barely alive.

But diving on a razor sharp carapace was a mistake.

While my own ant is still down and regrowing it's legs, the last one collapses and turns to mana.

As soon as the fight ends my mind relaxes and it's attention gets drawn to a tiny phanotom.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

A phantom ant getting torn to shreds and holding off a horde by itself while regrowing legs can be seen in my mind

While I blinked away the phantom a tiny white ant came from the left and arrived in front of my core.

Did he slip through the small cracks between the boulders?

That tiny bite on my crystal gave way to a huge flood of white and black smoke.
